Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!

1000 replies

Reastie · 26/11/2024 07:55

I think I always (or nearly always!) call the one with Black Friday this name. I'm assuming this thread will see us through the weekend and I'm not premature!!! Make sure you keep your Black Friday bargains genuine bargains - not everything that looks reduced actually is as good a deal as it looks.

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

New look £25 gift card is reduced to £21.25 on Amazon as part of Black Friday. This would be good for a gift or if anyone is buying themselves something for Christmas!

Just to add there are some other gift cards with 20% off too- odeon, vue, Pizza Hut

There was a great amazon deal last year on zuru robo fish 2 packs. Has anyone seen anything this year? My daughter has finally asked for something for Christmas 😅 And I've already got a 2 pack of turtles because her brother is obsessed with turtles...

Edited

The entertainer often gave deals on these

I ordered last year, all was fine so ordered 2 this year but they've only sent 1. They have ignored me and I've had to raise it with my bank

That's awful. I've just had an email from them promoting the advent calendar. If they are struggling to fulfil orders, getting them wrong, and have no customer service point of contact, then they have no business continuing to promote their product in my eyes.

pinkksugarmouse · 27/11/2024 19:51

Just want to be chuffed that I have sorted all DD's (almost 22) present for birthday and Christmas. To be honest I don't buy anywhere near as much now she's grown up but it's still nice to be sorted.

I'm curious as to whether any clothes shops will do BF deals on men's shirts. DH is so hard 3 buy for and always says he's fine with a couple of books but if there are some good offers on men's clothes I might take the opportunity.

OneQuickReader · 27/11/2024 20:07

Anyone know of any discount codes for Smyths toys? Thanks a lot.

CandyRaining · 27/11/2024 20:11

Can anyone help please? Need gifts for a 14 year old unknown girl (for the Tesco gift giving). Says nothing about the girl and what she’d like at all. Budget is around £25. I’m thinking as I know nothing about her to get lots of different types of little gifts eg some body spray, art stuff, a book etc in the hope that she likes something. Or maybe a voucher would be better. Any ideas where for? Any ideas much appreciated!

Anewuser · 27/11/2024 20:13

Just saw (and used) a deal for a 1p personalised A5 card with Card Factory.

Code is PSQ41PCARD

H&M have 20% off everything for BF if you sign up to become a member. I think it's on till Monday. Their prices are already reasonable, and I've been in today to buy shirts, t shirts and jumpers.

Thelifeofawife · 27/11/2024 17:34

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz where did you find the railcard code? I’ve had a look on my account but can’t see anything for rail

They were actually issued at the start of the month ... I claimed but don't think I'll use so wanted to pass on so it doesn't go to waste

Digisquidgy · 27/11/2024 20:20

I am possibly late to this but Boots don’t do their 3-2 offers online. It seems to be in store only.

thisgirlloveschristmas2024 · 27/11/2024 20:25

Just read that M&S won’t be doing the sparks 12 days of Christmas this year. Have loved this the past 2 years and won some little stocking fillers

PlanBea · 27/11/2024 20:27

I've just bought a lovely dress from AYM who are running their only sale of the year - minimum 15% off site wide with some items having extra discount. I absolutely love this brand, I've got at least a dozen dresses by them, some from Vinted and some direct from them.

It also stacks with the code THANKYOU10 for another 10% off, and once you complete your purchase you get 10% back as store credit if you sign up to their loyalty scheme.

What??? Oh no! it was real fun last few year... where did you read it?

Missscentsation · 27/11/2024 18:58

Gymshark, 70% sale plus an extra 20% off bottoms with BOTTOMS20 there's leggings on for £18, so about £14 pair. One for them, one for me 😉

Do you know what the length is like? And are they all quite as wedgied as they look? I've been meaning to try them for a while but scared they'll make me look like a bargain basement Kardashian

Dropthepilots · 27/11/2024 20:30

@Digisquidgy Boots definitely do the majority of 3 for 2 offers online, only a few exceptions e.g. some food and drink items. I've ordered several lots of 3 for 2 for click and collect with no problems.

Hohohopeful · 27/11/2024 20:30

Sigh- Boden do brilliant kids winter coats. Got them last year with 40% off on black friday. Last Friday I noticed they had 30% off so I thought that that may be their offering this year. I ordered 2 coats. Today they have 40% off. So annoying. I don't know of companies understand it just makes you delay shopping next year 😡.

Also- 40% off nice winter coats today at Boden 😀

Re Fahlo Bracelets

Thread 14 - the one with BLACK FRIDAY!
fishfingersandchipsagain · 27/11/2024 20:44

I have 2 slightly odd tips:

Amazon - the “5% discount if you add another 3 qualifying items”. I hardly ever am organised enough to group things into orders. But if you are buying something bigger, adding three 5p SIM cards gets you the discount. So technically it’s worth it if you are spending anything more than £6.

Argos (found out unintentionally), if you return an item purchased using a money off voucher, they don’t take account of the voucher. Eg I bought three items totalling £60 and used a £10 off voucher. I returned 2. They refunded £40. So technically my remaining item only cost £10.

Oreyt · 27/11/2024 20:45

I posted this before I saw the two posts about how good they were 😂😂

Oreyt · 27/11/2024 20:47

I bought 2 Pandora Charms and 2 Bracelets and got one box. Seems silly when I clearly ordered for 2 people (both my dds) 🙄🙄
