Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Was there a mountain warehouse code or have I missed it?

It was the code FROST for 20% off. I think it did include free delivery as well at one point but that has ended now although it still works for the 20% off.

Any ideas for an office Bad Santa? I had to google what it is but for those like me that don't know, once your name is drawn you can either pick an unopened gift from the pile, or steal someone else's gift that they have already opened. Budget is £15, and as it's being done in this format the gift could be for anyone! Confused

I put in an Ulster weaver order last Friday but it still hasn’t arrived, anyone else who ordered, have you received yours yet? Maybe I’m being a bit impatient but I find things usually take 2/3 days to come so being a week I’m wondering if something’s up.
Thanks for the new thread reastie 🎄

I was thinking the exact same thing a few days ago and nearly posted about it. Then yesterday I finally got a dispatch email. So hopefully it will arrive next week.

On the Adanola hoodie front, if anyone comes across a discount code I would be hugely grateful. Managed to get DS 25% off his Nike one thank goodness but my DDs is still at full price.

I got 10% off signing up as a new customer but couldn't find anything better than that

They do seem to be taking longer than anything else. Ordered a few things from the thread over the past week and it’s all arrived apart from this. Must have had a lot of orders.

oh my this site is just fabulous! What is the sizing like? I am a true 14. so not sure to go for the 14/16 as they say they come up big.

I was about to ask this too. Some lovely things on the site and was about to order but the sizing has put me off. I'd normally order 12-14 so worried that a 10-12 might be a bit small and a 14-16 too big. Can anyone advise on how the sizing runs?

CandyRaining · 23/11/2024 11:37

Sorry for the messy link, if you click the bottom part of the link it works.

slimmyjimmy · 23/11/2024 11:39

@CandyRaining my Ulster Weavers order arrived this morning

Famousthehero · 23/11/2024 11:46

Hmm it’s my ds bday today, one of his gifts was the bargain beast lab thing.

it needed 6! AA batteries, the instructions were very confusing so I’d advise reading through first, all the ‘ingredients’ we put in the top just did a vague unimpressive fizzle, and the QR code included which you’re meant to scan for a video about how to play with your beast were a broken link to nothing.
guess they are clearing old stock and maybe we were unlucky. Anyway ds5 is happy with it and dd7 asked for one too 🫠

I'm a size 20 and the 18/20 fit me very comfortably. I see they have an extra 10% off today only on their satin pyjamas with code SILKY10

@DraftUp Hobbycraft have a couple of mushroom embroidery kits half price.

Talisin · 23/11/2024 11:50

@nickdrakeslovechild @XiCi I just have the one pair of pajamas from them (so far!) and they come up big but not falling-off-me big. I would say the 14-16 comes up as a larger 16 for example so if you’re more 12 than 14, go for the 10-12.

comewhinewith · 23/11/2024 11:57

There's £20 bonus cash back with Quidco on the Lego website today, plus 9% I think - there's a few good Black Friday deals too.

Vimaybe · 23/11/2024 12:00

Does anyone know if black friday weekend typically has big sales on Look Fantastic? I've got a few bits in atm but only 25% off is working on them. Can't decide if i should hold out or not.

allyouneedisloveand · 23/11/2024 12:28

Has anyone seen any good offers on cheese or snack hampers ?
Thanks

Carrie76 · 23/11/2024 12:29

@Usernamechangeforthis12 how about charging banks for the nephews? Always handy to have lots of good ones have been recommended

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/11/2024 12:36

@itsimpossibletochooseausername I rate Aldi wrapping paper

Iwanttoputmytreeup · 23/11/2024 12:39

@allyouneedisloveand
Laithwaites.co.uk do some good hampers and if you are a new customer you can £40 off an £80 order....I can send you a code but there are several on the referral thread. They do cheese and wine, snacks and alcohol free as well as the wine based products

Roka have 50% off selected bags for BF - currently early access for email subscribers, you can still subscribe on their website! Just treated myself to a new backpack for work.
