Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Anyone seen nice Wicked pjs for a 7 year old that don't cost the earth? She's going into hospital so nice pjs may soften the blow but they're £28 in M&S which I wouldn't pay for pjs for myself!

Asda or Primark?

Im sure I saw Wicked stuff in Primark but can't remember if there were girls pjs, but might be worth a look x

DeathStarCanteenGal · 22/11/2024 08:54

couple of things in emails which might help...
Look Fantastic have 25> off today only with the code HURRY- they give the example that this takes a SDJ set worth £70 down to £36ish ...
and 25% off everything at Bam, who make bamboo socks, amongst other things. doesn't seem to need to be a code...

TheContinentalHotel · 22/11/2024 08:57

@SweetPeaPods the Black Friday offers for the hotel packages are on the website already. Hadn't realised that the others aren't! Website says from 22nd November to 1 December

I’m looking to buy a North Face coat for ds. He’s 12 and small for his age, the L is age 12 and XL says 14-16. Can anyone who has a north face wearing child advise if the sizes run small. Many thanks

Backatsquareone · 22/11/2024 09:04

Worth keeping an eye on prices at John Lewis. Two things on my list which were full price a couple of days ago now have 20% and 25% off

YorkshireFelix · 22/11/2024 09:27

@TheHappiestChristmasTree try primark! I bought my 10yo dd some glinda ones yesterday from the women's section. They go down to XXS and were shorts and t-shirt style so might be ok for her unless she's super slim. Not sure if they have them in the kids but you can see their range online and check stock in stores which is helpful!

hugsandpugs · 22/11/2024 09:28

Not a bargain but just to say boohoo man customer services are great. My order hasn’t arrived so contacted them to chase it up and for the inconvenience of it not arriving yet they have sent me a £5 gift card.

Gotta try and contact Royal Mail now as it should have arrived Wednesday but looks like it’s been sent to the wrong delivery office which is a good 10 miles away! 🙈😬

I just asked at the end of the last thread about the Spicery. I have bought their kits in previous BF events. This year I just need refills but there's currently no discounts - drat! - does anyone think they will drop?

In the the meantime if anyone is looking for the whole kit I have found 30% off on Not on the High Street The Spicery’s Curry Legend Cookbook Kit By the spicery. Sadly, I am only after the refills.

If anyone sees any good bargains on good quality thermal socks let me know!!

Primark. The men’s are best but ladies ones are good. I buy them every year.

hugsandpugs · 22/11/2024 09:41

Canterbury have a good sale on their rugby boots. Just managed to find a pair of purple junior ones! (Only size 3 left!) They are half price at £22.50 and then it takes an extra 40% off at checkout so they come down to £13.50. Insane price! My DD is going into a size 2 but debating getting them to put away at that price.

IlovePond · 22/11/2024 09:45

@Autumnleaves4 - I have been looking at the sacks/stockings in HB - been to a few stores in various parts of the country recently. In all of them, I’ve only seen red velvet sacks without initials and red stockings ditto. These have either got Santa or a post box/letter thing on.

This year’s initial range is in a beigey cream material with a furry top. They have sacks for £9 and stockings for £5.

Of course there might be some red initial ones knocking around somewhere. However, you could maybe buy the plain red ones and add an initial yourself.

alfiebest · 22/11/2024 09:47

I use this company a lot for hard to buy for people, they do personalised hip flasks. I emailed to see if they were doing Black Friday before I ordered again and they said no, but they’d run a discount code for Mumsnet £15 off £30 spend on the whole www.swigflasks.com site MUMSNETFRI valid until 02/12/24

alfiebest · 22/11/2024 09:48

Also got an email from handmade Christmas company with their Black Friday offers, glad I twitched earlier though and bought the lined sack because it’s not much more discount than what I got previously and some are sold out already

PersisFord · 22/11/2024 08:28

I've just opened an advent calendar from my mum and it's beautiful!! For the grown-up calendar connoisseur....

And that MW frost code worked for me this morning!

https://www.windowcards.co.uk/advent-calendars

Oh my goodness they are absolutely gorgeous! I've bookmarked their site and will 100% buy one next year. They're so cleverly done.

hotchocdrinker · 22/11/2024 09:49

Although it doesn't seem to be showing on their website, I've had an email from Harper Collins to say that for today only everything is 50% off with the code BLACKFRIDAY50.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2024 10:06

Does anyone else have an issue with their 20% off kids' clothes from M&S? It's only taking 10% off the pyjama offer of 2 for £16. 🤷‍♀️

WeaselTrap · 22/11/2024 10:12

Thanks for this! Picked one up for my mum who’s having a bit of a shitty time at the moment. A boozy choc every day will certainly help cheer her up 😊

mumsm · 22/11/2024 10:12

Thank you @MrsPerfect12

Tu 25% off - if you go through argos you can use the Argos vouchers to save even more!

CandyRaining · 22/11/2024 10:19

I put in an Ulster weaver order last Friday but it still hasn’t arrived, anyone else who ordered, have you received yours yet? Maybe I’m being a bit impatient but I find things usually take 2/3 days to come so being a week I’m wondering if something’s up.
Thanks for the new thread reastie 🎄

IamChipmunk · 22/11/2024 10:20

@NoWordForFluffy I used the 20% off this morning on a top for dd and it's worked. Taken the full 20% off...

Wellwhoknewthat · 22/11/2024 10:21

Are the M&S chocolate cocktail advents in store only? Can't find in the app and website only gives me the option to "add to list", still £10 on ocado

Notlongnow1 · 22/11/2024 10:37

Bippityboppitybooo · 22/11/2024 08:18

Did someone say yoto were starting black friday today? I've not seen anything!

That was me and now can't find the post from them on facebook but will keep looking!

Notlongnow1 · 22/11/2024 10:38

@candyraining mine arrived yesterday but had also had an email from evri saying delayed due to snow disruption.

@nowordforfluffy same issue here. Was taking 20% off last night just been to checkout and only 10%.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/11/2024 10:40

Yes, 20% off yesterday, but I needed to wait for pay day today and now it's 10%, despite claiming to be 20%!
