Thread 13 - the one where I'm dashing for the school run!

1000 replies

Reastie · 22/11/2024 07:25

Apologies for the rubbish title - I'm trying to get the kids ready and don't want my daughter to miss the bus!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

If you have any voucher codes to share (or want to check for any) then have a look https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212144-sharing-voucher-codes

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes here . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

dn13 wants a fungi embroidery kit and some fungi mushroom cute stuff. Any ideas?! Thanks

Urban outfitters have some mushrooms bits and pieces, they did have an embroidery kit but I can’t find it now. Etsy will definitely come up trumps

Thelifeofawife · 23/11/2024 09:50

@PersisFord mine is all about White Fox at the moment. I thought it was out of fashion now but apparently very much still in.
There are various 20% & 30% off deals. But from following these threads I’ve come to know that you can pick up a bargain on eBay or Vinted, as people are buying the wrong sizes - they come up big.

cheesychipsontheoche · 23/11/2024 09:57

Pink palm puff is the popular hoodie brand but ridiculously expensive and ships from the US.

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 23/11/2024 09:57

smyths £1 cute stocking filler and on 3 for 2 there's a a couple of flowers as well.

Thanks so much for the Nike tip 👍

Any Adidas codes I've missed (looking at stacked Gaselles for me!)
Any Urban Outfitters codes too? Their sale is already good, but some full price trousers for DS2 are needed!

If anyone missed it, Vans website has many offers.

RainbowColouredRainbows · 23/11/2024 10:11

Are switches any good? Dd7 after a games console and not my area of expertise! I know she plays Wii sports at after school club so I'm guessing this is where it's come from

Thelifeofawife · 23/11/2024 10:24

Karcher products - does anyone have these and recommend? Thinking of something for my DF

Also, any exciting ideas for my stepmum? In the past she’s had jewellery, scarves, gardening stuff. She’s very particular with skincare and beauty so I wouldn’t buy something like that. So far she’s got the escape to the chateau book (because I’m a 🐑)

These are TOP TIPS thank you!!! She is 11 so pretty close, I'll try to drop it in conversation casually.

Yes I'd definitely try and have a sneaky chat about it as it changes so fast with teens. My dd (14) wanted Adenola this year and was adamant she didn't want White Fox. Pink palm puff hoodies are lovely for tweens but they ship from the US. I was looking at them this week and it said you have to order by 28th Nov for Xmas delivery. Shipping is free though so they are around the Adenola/White Fox price point.

Theimpossiblegirl · 23/11/2024 10:33

Yesterday DD asked for Marc Jacobs Decadence which had been on offer with Very. Went on to purchase and it's gone back up to £109.
I'd really appreciate anyone helping me to find it cheaper. Not sure about eBay, I assume dupes.

Also has anyone received an order from Solace Jewellery? I'm waiting on some earrings this week and today received a box with just a packet of sweets and card thanking me for supporting them. I'm really hoping that this was just a little extra thank you and my earrings are on their way and not that some little toe rag has intercepted my order. The box wasn't sealed. Just folded into itself to close so no really way of knowing

I had an order from them a couple of months back and the sweets came in the box with the earrings, so I’m guessing yours should have been in there 😕

I placed an order with them a few days ago. I’ve had a confirmation email but no sign of despatch yet.

Does anyone know if Roka bags are doing any Black Friday offers this year please? Been waiting all year after missing last year's offers!
Also are there any codes for free delivery at Pandora? I hate paying for delivery! Thank you 😊

Roka have 50% off selected bags for BF - currently early access for email subscribers, you can still subscribe on their website! Just treated myself to a new backpack for work.

Missscentsation · 23/11/2024 10:38

I do love this thread! I came on to ask about whitefox Black Friday offers, but thanks @XiCi I'm off to Adanola!

This thread has served me well
Being in trend which oodies, then white fox now this l, thank you you wonderful
People!

We got our son one last year and it's great. What I like about it is that it can be played on the tv (either by himself or as a family) but portable so can be taken out and about as well.
We enjoy playing mario kart and mario party as a family. I've just ordered sonic and Mario olympic games off ebay to play as a family game as well (santa will bring this as a gift to all of us!)

There is a new switch console out next year though.

friskybivalves · 23/11/2024 10:48

On the Adanola hoodie front, if anyone comes across a discount code I would be hugely grateful. Managed to get DS 25% off his Nike one thank goodness but my DDs is still at full price.

mybrainisbusybeingawesome · 23/11/2024 10:49

Was there a mountain warehouse code or have I missed it?

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 23/11/2024 10:54

Thanks for all the great tips so far….I’ve been away and Christmas is suddenly too soon! I need to start today and finish by next weekend but completely stuck on a few and hoping for some ideas…..

I have 20-something nephews to buy for. £20 ish and no idea what they are into. Have previously got them bargain oodies/ watches.

Also present for a 60s couple - diabetic so hampers out. Have previously bought theatre tickets which went down well. Similar would be good but need to be flexible as they are always on holiday!!

anyone got a code for Online Home Shop? I have nearly £100 in my basket but hoping to reduce it a bit.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 23/11/2024 10:54

The rate at which Claire’s change their offers is bewildering.

All I really want are three palm pals. I missed the best offer, which was a buy 3 get 3 free that stacked with 30% off.

Then I was going to get just the palm pals when they had 40% off, but that went away.

Now the buy 3 get 3 offer is back, but I don’t want to spend £24, even if I would get another £24 of stuff (that I don’t need) for free.

BendyBusBuggy · 23/11/2024 10:56

@itsimpossibletochooseausername , depends on the style you're after, IKEA do cheapish sturdyish wrapping paper

They were 40% off in store when I was there on Thursday. Not sure if they have changed the offer again though!

Have they got an rhs garden nearby or national trust?

hilton vouchers if the budget allows or dinner vouchers?

They changed it (again). I shouldn’t complain really, it just messes with my head that I might not get the best bargain 😅

I was one of the people who recommended the Night Store. We got our pyjamas from there this time last year and they are still looking fabulous.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I've just had an email saying Argos have 20% off lego advent calendars

oh my this site is just fabulous! What is the sizing like? I am a true 14. so not sure to go for the 14/16 as they say they come up big.

Wishingiwastracytutor · 23/11/2024 11:06

Hi has anyone got anything off a £60 shop in Argos please ?
