Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Hmm still a long link, how do you turn it into a word?

You can click the little link icon then type the word you want in the box, hope that makes some sense

Edit: that didn't work. It removed my square brackets and made the demo one look odd!

Basically, after the link, put a space then your description, then close the square brackets.

Hello! I’ve been following these threads for a couple of years now but never actually posted until today - does anyone know if Halfords do any kind of Black Friday discount on kids bikes? I know some are reduced already however the one we are looking at for our son isn’t but I just wanted to check before we order 🎄

Some good bits on the sports direct website …

managed to get DS (11) two pairs of Nike track pants joggers, adidas rugby boots.

DS (13) men’s Nike shorts, Nike tshirt, Nike boxers, rugby ball, pack of 3 Nike socks

Me vans trainers, Calvin Klein long bralette, white high tops.

Had a 20% extra code for my birthday off sports direct so managed to get it all for £90 including delivery. 👏

Fingers crossed it all arrives.

The Nike socks were the cheapest I’ve seen them at £8.49 I think for 3 pairs …

Edited

How did you get the birthday money off? I need to get some expensive tracksuits and resent every penny 🤣

I’m not actually sure they just send me a random email with a birthday code for 20% off first time it’s happened! It wouldn’t work on Nike trainers I wanted for DS though …. I’m guessing Nike trainers are excluded from the offer 🙈

More spode Christmas tree chat! I've purchased my extra bits from the spode and portmeirion site. They have 15% off Christmas tree china and There is a free gift of 4 Christmas tree stemless wineglasses with purchases over £70. No discount codes can be used with it. I've tried my blue light and my new customer code 😕. Anyway I'm delighted to have the stemless wine glasses

@gaggiagirl I saw lots of Spode Christmas Tree crockery at TK Maxx with up to 60% reduction on some pieces. Worth checking there as well.

I posted earlier in the thread about make-up/toiletry bargains at Beauty Outlet but, for anyone with Wicked/Wizard of Oz fans or makeup collectors to buy for, I must highlight the remarkable cheap and loveliness of this Revolution Wizard of Oz set reduced from an RRP of £39.95 to £10. It contains two lip glosses, one eyeliner, two hair bows (elastic), one blush, one tin heart highlighter AND an 18-pan ruby slipper eyeshadow palette!!!

I was sceptical about the original price but my delivery just arrived and I'm blown away. It won't stick to this post so I'm attaching a rubbish photo in the post below (with my aged hand for scale) to show you the massive gorgeously festive golden box plus this unboxing video to reveal the contents because I don't want to break the sticker seals.

I bought two to go in goodie bags for when I take my DD to see Wicked (film) on Friday but I think they're far too nice and am seriously tempted to save them for under the Christmas tree instead. You could divvy up the contents (but it would feel mean) or gift it with a DVD of the original film for a really fab, themed pressie. I think this might be my favourite accidental Christmas bargain😍

Just ordered one for my currently Wizard of Oz obsessed dd. Also spotted a mystery beauty box for £10 so added that to the order too 🙂

CoffeeAndEnnui · 16/11/2024 17:11

@Mumto3thatsme I hope she likes it (you'll be tempted to steal it if you're anything like me!) and that the mystery box is a goodie.

GoodIsGoodEnough · 16/11/2024 17:14

Thanks so much @NoWordForFluffy!

I've been on these threads for years (under various names), this is the first time I've managed a clicky link!

Jedstre · 16/11/2024 17:18

Glad you’ve cracked the links @GoodIsGoodEnough 😀
thank you but the curler you linked is too thin. I’m after a barrel curler/tongs not a wand, if any recommendations please.

Hi, after not needing the Solace earrings offer previously my dd9 how not decided to get her ears pierced.

Are there any more offers with Solace or does the previous link to the giftset still work?

Lifeisart · 16/11/2024 17:47

Has anyone ordered from Beauty Outlet online? I'm not sure whether to trust the site.

I put a photo up of a pre Black Friday sale I can’t find my email now (once I delete them they seem to go off somewhere else 🤷🏼‍♀️). It was 50% off over £60 spend I think with BF50 and then 40% off a lower spend with BF40

BoilingHotand50something · 16/11/2024 17:54

@CoffeeAndEnnui thanks so much for that! They seem to be going for £40-£50 elsewhere. This has saved me from a birthday present problem.

Not online. I've brought things in the physical shore though and it's all been good

BoilingHotand50something · 16/11/2024 18:04

@Lifeisart i had a delivery this week after a poster on here recommended. It was all good although I was initially suspicious.

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 18:20

@Bongbangbing - I’ve just logged onto ELF and on the opening page is the lip duo offer. Are you on the app? It’s definitely working for me on the app on my phone.

When you click on Rewards it should then come up for you to click Redeem. You do have to put stuff in your basket first, though.

If you are on the app already, try deleting it and reloading - that worked for @tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz

Apologies if you’ve already tried this.

The miraculous £10 makeup gift set from Beauty Outlet😍

(And my aged hand)

Thank you for this - perfect present for nieces.

IlovePond · 16/11/2024 18:35

I went shopping irl today. TKMAXX was very busy 🙀

They had:

Eve Lom products - cloths, cleansers, night cream and spot treatment
Olaplex
Lots of Korean skincare with long expiry dates
Face masks galore
Nails Inc sets
Bath bomb 12 day a/c for £9.99

GWP with Lancôme in Boots and at JL

Scratchcards with purchase at JL - although I had to ask the staff for them both times I bought things as they forgot to give them to me.

Lidl was like the zombie apocalypse-but I bought a SDJ dupe spray - the pink one - it is lovely. I also noticed they were doing JM hand lotion and hand wash dupes in Wood Sage and Salt, so they’ve come home with me too.

I visited JM to have a sniff at the real Poppy and Barley - it seemed ok on me, so I think I’ll keep my Aldi no39 bought in error yesterday. (Should have got DDog the dog a/c when I was in Aldi yesterday but forgot 🙀)

Managed to get oldest adult DS a jacket for his birthday from Zara - not a bargain, but successful as it a) fits and b) is, apparently, ‘alright’. This is high praise indeed from the adult offspring at PondTowers so I am feeling pleased at a job well done!

Lots of the a/c behind the counter at my local M&S this pm.
