Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Btw: My friend got the M&S calendar in store yesterday, so not too late if anyone is still interested, (it’s sold out online).

Ooh what calendar is this. Sorry, I feel like I've missed something somewhere.

Edited ro add: ignore me. I've just realised you probably mean the beauty advent gift thingy.

I think many threads ago there was some chat around Harry Potter chocolate frogs - which I didn't know would be on my list until this morning. Does anyone know how to get a bargain here? They seem very expensive and apparently Santa is bringing a box of them!

Jelly belly website had them. Not sure how much a bargain they are though

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 16/11/2024 13:51

@Spaceracers maybe you can get a bit crafty with the frogs. Most chocolate shops sell frogs. Hunt around for a good price then present them in a nice gold box?

We used these when we were in their area but am sure if you google search there are probably plenty of others available

Has anyone else had an email offering a free grumm set of shower bars or fragrances for a £4 delivery charge? It won’t add them to my basket. I’ve emailed them for help, but as the email came via a brief beer subscription thing I got off here years ago I assume some of you will have got it too.

Someone posted a link to these a couple,e of days ago , but they sold out quite quickly , hence no longer being able to add to your basket .

thisgirlloveschristmas2024 · 16/11/2024 14:20

Has anyone seen any bubble tea make your own sets on offer anywhere?

Thanks

whereareyousleep · 16/11/2024 14:28

@Spaceracers I'd buy a mould and make your own you can get the moulds on eBay that what I do when my son had a HP themed party they were super easy.

OohShakiraShakira · 16/11/2024 14:48

I tried my olaplex stuff and have to say I'm not impressed. My hair feels kinda dry and crunchy... also lots of fly aways/static. Not a fan! Glad I only ordered small sizes.

Itsanadventure · 16/11/2024 14:51

If anyone could pm an Argos voucher I’d be hugely grateful. I think I’ll be spending around £70/80

Not a bargain but my Sainsbury’s often have them in the world food aisle on nectar offer.

B&M have them in, individual ones for £2.30 - I picked a few different flavours as stocking fillers. They had them with cups for a few £ more.
I hunted all over the shop but they were in that row as you enter the shop

Bongbangbing · 16/11/2024 15:00

I can't make the elf offer work. I've registered and downloaded the app but all I get is free delivery. What am I doing wrong?

@BrieCamera my daughter has asked for these and this is what I have done. Have you checked your Amazon promotions? Some accounts, have £5 off £10 spend and £3 off £10 collection point orders.

Currently Amazon have price matched the dolls with slime and pet for £21.99, I used the £5 off to get it for £16.99. I also found a like new one in the Amazon Resale (used to be amazon warehouse) for £9.99 and had £3 off for click and collect. The only thing wrong with the resale doll was the packaging had a tiny rip which I had to look for.

Without meaning to sound stupid… where do you see your Amazon offers?

M&S have had them in past years much cheaper than the likes of fancy sweet shops. In little packets rather than a box though, and no card, though not sure if the more expensive ones come with cards anyway.

Can someone please explain to me how to make a clicky link? I don't understand from the first housekeeping post! Feeling a bit dim.
Thanks!

GoodIsGoodEnough · 16/11/2024 15:35

Thank you for the John Lewis reminder. Just checked my app and I had £10 off beauty so purchased a couple of hair bits for me I've had my eye on!

I’m looking for barrel hair curler/tongs for my teenage daughter. Any bargain recommendations please?

As pp have said, you can find a couple of flavours (mostly fruit) in B&M. Sachets to make one drink, and ones that come with a reusable boba cup and straw.

Tesco sell the same type of drinks-only sachets as B&M, including a multipack one. It's in the tea aisle.

TK Maxx have boba kits in card boxes but no cup. You're more likely to find different flavours here. I bought a taro multipack but saw brown sugar, matcha milk, strawberry milk...

Someone on a previous thread linked to the bubblepanda website, where they were doing a huge sale. I ordered one as a gift, it had a cup and several flavours, and it was a huge success.

CoffeeAndEnnui · 16/11/2024 16:06

I posted earlier in the thread about make-up/toiletry bargains at Beauty Outlet but, for anyone with Wicked/Wizard of Oz fans or makeup collectors to buy for, I must highlight the remarkable cheap and loveliness of this Revolution Wizard of Oz set reduced from an RRP of £39.95 to £10. It contains two lip glosses, one eyeliner, two hair bows (elastic), one blush, one tin heart highlighter AND an 18-pan ruby slipper eyeshadow palette!!!

I was sceptical about the original price but my delivery just arrived and I'm blown away. It won't stick to this post so I'm attaching a rubbish photo in the post below (with my aged hand for scale) to show you the massive gorgeously festive golden box plus this unboxing video to reveal the contents because I don't want to break the sticker seals.

I bought two to go in goodie bags for when I take my DD to see Wicked (film) on Friday but I think they're far too nice and am seriously tempted to save them for under the Christmas tree instead. You could divvy up the contents (but it would feel mean) or gift it with a DVD of the original film for a really fab, themed pressie. I think this might be my favourite accidental Christmas bargain😍

Oh good MORNING Christmas people, I am about to begin for the year (don't judge me). I have been lurking on these threads for ages anyway because I love the vibe!

This is a random one, but I am doing up my daughters bedroom for Xmas and I have some curtains and blinds in my blinds2go basket. So far 5%off curtains, 10% off blinds and extra 10% off early black Friday. Do you think i should hold my nerve and wait a bit??

I am in a similar boat but it's a rug I need from a differenrt retailer that is £££. I emailed the customer support and they said there would be a sale for BF so you could try that?
