Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Not a bargain but this is such a helpful thread. I need to get a gift for a 10 and 12 year old, they're brother and sister, I was going to get them a voucher each for the local cinema, the voucher would cover film and popcorn, the cinema is very easy to get to from their house on public transport or by car, is this a good gift or a bit of a pain for the parents?

doistay · 15/11/2024 19:05

Can someone remind me where the football kits are from, whether they are big or small on sizing and what the delivery time was like please.

Thanks!

@gaggiagirl https://www.laredoute.co.uk/pplp/100/75363/75443/cat-84169.aspx?brndid=spode have it on sale with a flash discount

I see it made my link a Mumsnet referral 🙄

MN has made links into affiliate links for a couple of years now. For what it's worth, I also have that charger and would recommend it.

Upcircle skincare have 25% off at the moment. If anyone is looking for stocking fillers for someone into sustainability as well as self-care, they are an excellent brand- products are made with ingredients that would otherwise go to waste (coffee grounds, raspberry seeds…) and packaging can be sent back for refills at a discount. This should stack with a £10 referral code so I’ve put mine on the referral thread: the minimum spend is £15.

gaggiagirl · 15/11/2024 19:24

@Wellwhoknewthat fabulous price thank you so much!

I think that's a really nice gift - at those ages they will need a parent to go with them though

Check the size guide for sizing. I've always found it to be accurate.
I ordered in October and it took 2 weeks exactly to arrive.

EXTRA30 gets you 30% off the outlet at Ulster Weavers Outlet | Sale | UP TO 85% OFF ALL OUTLET LINES | Ulster Weavers I got lovely teatowels from here last year

I was just going to post the exact same thing!

There is not as much in the outlet as there was last year, but it looks like there are some nice things. It looks like they have restocked the outlet since last week.

After the discount:
A good selection of tea towels under £2
Aprons under £6
Oven gloves arounds £4
Fabic doorstop £3ish

Free postage over £30

I bit the bullet and bought the full price ones I was wanting, and added some tea towels and a doorstop to bring it up to the free delivery threshold.

Some of you may remember a few years ago on these Christmas threads, the bargain spode Christmas tree dinner set. I purchased it and would like to add more cereal bowls and side plates if anyone can advise where is best and most bargainous to buy from.
Ive been able to buy additional dinner plates for my set from tk Maxx at a reduced price if anyone is looking for more plates or spode items.

I can't help but I'm still sad I didn't buy the bargain Spode set

Ulster Weavers discount someone was asking about tea towels on a previous thread

@onedayiwillbehappy Jellycat rarely allow discounts on their products. Temptation Gifts is an official stockist (there will be others but you have to be careful they are genuine stockists)

For those looking for powerbanks, I was at a conference the other day and had a charger crisis as I'd taken my powerbank but not the lead. A lovely lady lent me her veektomx one which comes with a usb, old apple and usb-c attachments and leads as part of it so you can't forget them or lose them. I haven't used it myself yet but DD and her friends were impressed with it yesterday as it charged two of their phones at the same time (one using the usb-c and the other the old apple charger)

thereisamouseinthehouse · 15/11/2024 20:15

If you do a real life purchase in a John Lewis store, they are giving out their Black Friday scratch cards. I just got a £5 off voucher. I have no idea if I did well with that or not! They also had a lot of offers on

shinny · 15/11/2024 20:16

Keep an eye out for an email from tesco - I've just had one offering 4 free cinema tickets for select showings at Cineworld! There is a one time use code in the email to access the tickets.

Edited

I've had this but although it says Movie Nights all my options were for Saturday morning screenings in a couple of weeks and subtitled.
I want to see Paddington before then!

The 100ml is £36. What's a good price (I quite like this one, so may treat myself at the right price!)?

Isthisonme · 15/11/2024 20:30

Being thick bit what's the difference d between a milk frother and the hot chocolate makers ? So they somehow stir or something? Am torn as DFIL might make a hot choc but it would be less frequent than a latte

thaegumathteth · 15/11/2024 20:33

@NoWordForFluffy I know it's not a bad price but last year I got it for £29 so I'm holding my nerve
