Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@TheCrow
Some people aren't happy with just a discount.

I just got an email saying my Tonys chocolate from O2 is on its way FYI

Yes me too

Theraffarian · 15/11/2024 16:31

Just placed another ELF order . My original one arrived today with the two free lip glosses.

Had the free duo lip oil and lip gloss set added to my account , then it let me add a free travel mascara , two free anti aging serums , and free delivery . I was swapping between the app and website , so don’t know if got confused , but will be happy with all the freebies , along with the items I actually paid for .

Iggi999 · 15/11/2024 16:38

@Callipygion I've just bought one too! (A Tesco planted tree)

Elf also didn't work for me. Order was there on PayPal (at authorise stage) but never went through on app even though tried twice. I just gave up as already have the benefit mascara for niece but some lip glosses would have made me Best Auntie Ever.

Edited

How many nieces do you have? I’d be happy to send you some of mine if you want? I’m not gonna use 4 🙈

I’ve just been to B&M - lots of alphabet sacks and stockings but only in cream.

In Aldi, lots of giant Kevin the Carrot and small Secret Agent Kevin’s, (which I didn’t particularly like).

They also had extendable honks for £12.99 and these.

Can anyone remember if Asda ever have offers on the Christmas decorations before xmas day? Thanks to this thread I now loath paying full price for anything.....im a bargain hunter!

Might be worth keeping eye on rewards app- I currently have a coupon for £5 off £30 on trees/ lights?

Love the idea of an extendable honk 😂

oversized hoodies, any other brands aside from White Fox that I need to be considering so I can get dd 15 out of her boyfriends one?
Also, for same dd, looking for a nice perfume, she liked Ariana Grande’s Cloud last year but wanted to get something different
thanks in advance

Raindancer411 · 15/11/2024 17:01

I must have missed the free chocolate on 02 Confused

mumonthehill · 15/11/2024 17:06

Speedo have a 50% sale and have some nice swimming hats even a festive one. Might be a fun advent gift.

OatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 15/11/2024 17:07

The little candle co - highly recommend for wax melts, great Jo Malone inspired scents. 20% off everything including sale with code BLACKFRI

IlovePond · 15/11/2024 17:08

🙈 @Mumto3thatsme - that’s what happens with autocorrect and typing while DH is driving on the m/way!

NotmySundaybest · 15/11/2024 17:17

Not very Christmassy but Jet 2 have a cracking sale on holidays 25/26.

VeruccaSalty · 15/11/2024 17:33

@hugsandpugs Oh that's an extraordinarily kind offer, thank you. I feel a bit guilty taking it as the benefit mascara is a perfectly good gift, but it's that funny thing of feeling like well if £20 is budget I should really spend it all Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of a bargain thread! So yes would be delighted to have it (and pay postage) but am also sure there are worthier recipients!

ruralwanderer · 15/11/2024 17:35

Lidl have cheap Christina lights, tinsel and other decorations in. I got a string of 100 fairy lights for £3.59 which will be ideal for my homemade door garland idea 😁

BangFlash · 15/11/2024 17:48

Loving this thread.

Mum wants a Henry vacuum. Has anyone seen a good offer or discount at an electrical store?

I honestly would rather someone make use of them as I didn’t actually think they would send so many 😂🙈 if you PM we can sort out getting them sent to you, how many do you need? 🎄

In my local Asda they had them on offer for £120 today

MaybeMrs · 15/11/2024 17:55

My elf order has arrived and is wrong. I’ve got a primer instead of a mascara 🤷🏻‍♀️ emailed them to see if they do anything about it.

Can anybody recommend a decent power bank for charging phones, ideally with an indicator on it to show how much charge it has left? Around the £10/15 mark, even better if less?

Also the cable which connects it to a phone too ... we have the Amazon basics tiny one before but they seem to be big and miss whether they have them in stock

Thanks ☺️

This is my favourite, the paw shape counts down the remaining power.

They used to come in a gift box with a charging cable and little torch thing, doesn't show that now though.

Price is £16.50 but I have a box to tick for another 20% off

Hollister has £10 off a £40 spend if you sign up for their rewards I used a new email address.

Teens and young adults on my list requested PJ's from there.

Offer stacks too if you have any other codes :)
