Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

God these are moving fast! I’ve missed like 5 threads!!!

I’m 99% done for this year apart from teacher gifts

has anyone seen any good deals similar to the burts bees baubles/crackers? I’ve already got some stashed away for DS1 but forgot DS2 was starting school too and didn’t get enough

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 15/11/2024 14:48

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz

@NWnature Also make sure that your order totals over £80 without postage and apparently not champagne...

Depends how many you need and what your budget is, but L’Occitane crackers are 4 for just under £20 amzn.eu/d/5SOfjzL

Thank you! Their live chat is fab - so quick and helpful. I have “fine wines” which were excluded, but have replaced with some other white burgundy and got the £40 off and free delivery! Excited to try. Cheers !

@Arewesureitisntbedtime have you looked anymore into the offer? Is it just them dates at the bottom or will it let you pick any? Wicked seems to be on the date we can't do 🤦

lemonsmum · 15/11/2024 15:02

@Arewesureitisntbedtime it's ok I've managed to put in code and see the faq 🙂 looks like just them dates times and first come when you get to cinema

It seems to be just the dates that are on the email unfortunately - I'm very happy to go and see Wicked but my boys would have preferred Paddington or Moana but they are on the 2 dates we can't do.

Also when the tickets came through they don't seem to have assigned seats - doors open an hour before the film so might have to be prepared to get there early particularly if you need 4 seats together.

Laithwaites codes are a pain in the A** but they are very helpful on the phone and have always honored any codes that didnt work

Be aware that it wont work on champagne

Doesn’t work on beer or larger either which I worked out after a lot of faff earlier today!

Wellwhoknewthat · 15/11/2024 15:13

@stripedlion what about lego - either one of the architecture sets or the technic ones

Daisiesanddaffodils24 · 15/11/2024 15:14

Baileys 70cl on offer in my local Asda. £10 down from £16.50.

Intrigued by the ELF chat (my order came fast and was fine) so I looked on the app, I have free lip duo in my rewards if I make another purchase.
I don’t need anything though…

Bugger…finally decided to cave and get the ELF app but my phone won’t let me download it as I don’t have iOS 16 and I haven’t got enough storage to update😡

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 15/11/2024 15:34

Can anyone remember if Asda ever have offers on the Christmas decorations before xmas day? Thanks to this thread I now loath paying full price for anything.....im a bargain hunter!

It’s on the website too

Hi, does anyone have an Argos code at all please? Spending £60. I did try to sign up to get £10 off but when I enter the code it says my order isn't eligible 🙁

My boots order from Tuesday is a disaster. Some of the powder make up is broken and online support is rubbish leaving only option of returning to a store (nearest is nearly an hour away) so completely defeats the point of ordering online. After the shambles of getting on the website on Tuesday, and it crashing as many times as it did I won't be ordering from them again.

I recently ordered some gift sets from Boots and one of the bottles wasn't closed properly in the box and leaked all over. I contacted them via phone and they agreed to send out a replacement for the damaged item. May be worth calling them up?

IlovePond · 15/11/2024 15:41

Lots of lovely homeware reduced in store at the Futon Company. I have just visited the lovely shop in Tunbridge Wells and had to have a strict word with myself.

Bargains:

Stoneware teapot: £6
Stoneware egg cups: £2
Large coloured and decorated mugs: £5
Pretty glasses with coloured rims: £2

Imo, these would make nice Xmas presents. I always find that FC reductions are better in store for knickknacks/homeware.

IlovePond · 15/11/2024 15:42

My ELF parcels are apparently at home waiting for me - I am agog with anticipation…

IlovePond · 15/11/2024 15:43

My free Chocoloney has been despatched 😺

Fuckingfuckssake · 15/11/2024 15:49

Thanks @Summerdew

I know I'm about to open an ELF shaped can of worms but my account is showing free delivery (£5 min spend) and Surprise Reward: FREE Lip Duo (gloss and Oil)

So I got another £5 Gel moisturizer and the lip duo, and ill deffo give that away this time.....

Edited

Thanks for this! Ive placed another order, if it turns up OK I'll have the lip oil and eyeliner in the damaged packaging which I had refunded, free birthday lip gloss, lip gloss and lip oil in the freebie offer (funnily enough the clear lip oil is the one that I ordered but they sent eyeliner by mistake) lip balm and a travel mascara all for £8!

Can anybody recommend a decent power bank for charging phones, ideally with an indicator on it to show how much charge it has left? Around the £10/15 mark, even better if less?

Also the cable which connects it to a phone too ... we have the Amazon basics tiny one before but they seem to be big and miss whether they have them in stock

Thanks ☺️

Tiger stores ones are really really good. The cables from there are good too.

alternatively I’m a big fan of the anker wireless ones, more pricey. But you don’t need to buy the cable. They normally come down for black friday

BLACKFRIDAY50 no longer working at HaperCollins but BLACKFRIDAY40 does and it stacks with Quidco which is 22% Cashback!
Trying to find which books we want that are HC published was hard work but got a really nice looking copy of the Night before Christmas, a Mog gift set for a baby and a couple of YA things for DS.

Memmemof2 · 15/11/2024 16:26

Not sure if anyone has a Cruella De Vil fan to buy for, but this doll is currently down to £17.70 on Amazon, from £41.99
