Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I know it’s been mentioned before, but Seasalt have 20% off orders over £75 until Sunday. It stacks with their 3 for 2 on gifts.

I got several of their lovely boxed sets of socks, normally £28 per box, but it works out as £15 per box after the discounts. Under £4 per pair and they are a very nicely presented and “special” gift.

There are quite a few other things in the 3 for 2 … scarfs, jewellery etc.

It doesn’t stack with other additional codes. So the 20% and 3 for 2 stack, but if you add eg student discount it removes all the other discounts.

stripedlion · 15/11/2024 13:30

Can anyone recommend toys or kits for a child interested in engineering and architecture please. Aged 8. Have already got them a book.

Was this just on real trees did you notice please? Looked on the website but can't see any offers.
Trying to work out if it's worth the trip as I don't have one that local to me.

I didn’t see any artificial trees, so I don’t know, sorry. The trees were all outside at my local store. Could you give yours a ring to ask?

kkr168 · 15/11/2024 13:37

@stripedlion what about something like this...

@CalliopePlantain the £5 referral code should work on all items. I bought a candle which was already reduced from £17.50 to £10.50 and the code worked to take off the extra £5.

Notlongnow1 · 15/11/2024 13:44

@redjoker me too! Still says 5-7 days though!

Trainstrike · 15/11/2024 13:51

ELF has arrived all present and correct, but I did only order three very basic things.

Wishingiwastracytutor · 15/11/2024 13:52

I’ve missed the Elf thing, can someone link me back to it please

Same here mine arrived today and all fine but just 3 basic things.

My boots order from Tuesday is a disaster. Some of the powder make up is broken and online support is rubbish leaving only option of returning to a store (nearest is nearly an hour away) so completely defeats the point of ordering online. After the shambles of getting on the website on Tuesday, and it crashing as many times as it did I won't be ordering from them again.

candlesandflames · 15/11/2024 12:41

Has anybody please got an Argos code for a £100 spend?

£10 off APJRDYRL4BGU

candlesandflames · 15/11/2024 14:01

@mickandrorty thank you so much! I have actually found one elsewhere so this code is available if anyone else can make use of it

Arewesureitisntbedtime · 15/11/2024 14:06

Keep an eye out for an email from tesco - I've just had one offering 4 free cinema tickets for select showings at Cineworld! There is a one time use code in the email to access the tickets.

You can call them. I ordered a few bits and they arrived in a huge box, smashed to pieces. I called them, explained what happened and they sent out again. Arrived fine the second time.

Worth a look in the last of Sainsburys toy sale clearance. I picked one up Weds for £15.

redjoker · 15/11/2024 14:15

I know I'm about to open an ELF shaped can of worms but my account is showing free delivery (£5 min spend) and Surprise Reward: FREE Lip Duo (gloss and Oil)

So I got another £5 Gel moisturizer and the lip duo, and ill deffo give that away this time.....

Famousthehero · 15/11/2024 14:15

Intrigued by the ELF chat (my order came fast and was fine) so I looked on the app, I have free lip duo in my rewards if I make another purchase.
I don’t need anything though…

Can anybody recommend a decent power bank for charging phones, ideally with an indicator on it to show how much charge it has left? Around the £10/15 mark, even better if less?

Also the cable which connects it to a phone too ... we have the Amazon basics tiny one before but they seem to be big and miss whether they have them in stock

Thanks ☺️

Keeponkeepigon · 15/11/2024 14:20

Deliveroo have a £7 off in November on a £20 spend.

It works on Boots orders - if you live near one!

Some great deals at Boots on the perfume at the moment especially if you can apply the additional Deliveroo discount.

@NWnature
I don't think both Laithwaites codes work together as they are both for 1st time users...I tried to make my order as close to £80 as that effectively made it a 50% discount

Ah thank you, I’ve now tried just a £40 referral and it says it’s applied but isn’t adjusting my £ total before check out. Grrr

Laithwaites codes are a pain in the A** but they are very helpful on the phone and have always honored any codes that didnt work

Be aware that it wont work on champagne
