Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

ELF offered me either a refund or replacement items for my damaged/wrong order so can't fault their customer service

Elephantino · 14/11/2024 13:18

Got my Skye candle today it's gorgeous for £5.50 delivered. Going to use a couple of other referral codes with different email addresses. I've also added mines to the referral thread. Thanks to the poster who added the bargain here

Whilst I know we are all here for the bargains I do feel it’s not really very moral to take the mickey out of small business who are trying to tempt new customers with a special offer by using multiple fake emails etc. This is a kind corner of mumsnet but it has a huge reach and many of these offers are done at a loss or at least a minuscule profit in the hope of making future larger sales- so when people share it on a large scale then take the piss it just doesn’t sit right with me.
By all means the larger companies with their massive profits- fair game. But this? No.

IlovePond · 14/11/2024 23:35

My ELF orders are due tomorrow- I am now wondering what will arrive and in what condition!

I am looking forward to trying ELF out as I don’t think I have ever used anything from them before.

10pfreddos · 14/11/2024 23:36

Thank you to whoever put the harper Collins post up.. James Webb telescope book and 5 books for DS 🥳

YorkshireFelix · 14/11/2024 23:41

My ELF arrived today. All items are correct and no damage to anything at all.

Same here … happy with the order tho wish I received the incorrect bundle the other poster had earlier 😅🤣

thaegumathteth · 15/11/2024 00:07

I agree @fourelementary Skye candles have excellent customer service and it's not fair to take the piss

Elephantino · 15/11/2024 00:21

sorry people think I have took the piss with the candles. I did place 2 further orders but have added other items (matching reed diffusers in same scent as the candles) using my own email address not a fake one and my mums email address as I ordered on her behalf for my aunt as she doesn't do online shopping (online anything) I wouldn't have bought anything without the referral code.

@ArthurChristmas22 I’m exactly the same! So many bits for the girls but finding it much harder to finding stocking fillers for ds13 so very happy when i find any :)

Sorry if already been mentioned but there are threads for teenage boy gifts and stocking fillers - I contributed a long list last year. I think I peaked then as now I have zero ideas 😅

Does anyone have any idea where I can get nice satin pjs for teen DD? She wants long sleeved/long legs and pastel colours. She's not tall enough for adult sizes.

Tried all the obvious clothes shops. I don't mind paying for food quality, the only ones we can find are on amazon which would cost likely fall apart after one wash!

Hoping someone might know of a lesser known brand?

Thank you

Adding these to the list of recommended satin PJs... my DD has them in navy and palest pink, and loves them. We wash them all the time and they are coming out as new [also dry in a flash...]. You can get them personalised for an extra £9. I didn't bother the first pair (as i thought she might think it a bit cringe at 15) but then we got some for her best friend and when i said it was possible she was put out that hers hadn't been! So I did do it for the next set. We went for the XS. DD is a size 6 and about 5' 4".

Thanks for the amazon wine deal. I have just ordered both!

Broken12 · 15/11/2024 05:42

My ELF order arrived, all fine and ended up with 2 free birthday lip glosses 😊 (same order they just sent 2 for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Delahot · 15/11/2024 05:58

im after a football quiz book/game for 2 football crazy lads (17 and 20). All the ones I’ve seen have loads of historic type questions which don’t mean anything to them. Anyone seen anything with current stuff if that makes sense?

Clucket87 · 15/11/2024 06:14

Double Cashback day on Quidco today.
Any ideas for my dad's girlfriend? She has a springer spaniel so I was thinking one of the Contigo Westloop thermal mugs, but would one with a handle be better for when she is walking the dog? Any advice gratefully received! X

Do you have a referral code left? It looks like lovely stuff and I would like to place an order.

Missscentsation · 15/11/2024 07:14

@WhippetsRule Shein do really nice silk PJs, they're good quality and very reasonable price.

Has anyone seen and ‘hotties’ (I think that what they are called) on offer? The ones you pop in the microwave? Saw some at a local garden centre but they were £20 each.

Just bought this lovely throw from Debenhams, would make a lovely gift (but it’s for myself), they have a few on offer.

Thanks @Lovemusic82 lots of lovely design throws, though like you bought for myself😂. Will go with my lovely Dreamland heated throw which I couldnt do without now. Noticed they have a few heated throws on the Debenhams website reduced as well.

Apparently primark have released their own snow fairy dupe sets. Aldi also have a snow fairy shower gel dupe available.

Theraffarian · 15/11/2024 07:33

I sat on the Grumm offer overnight , and although checking the reviews this morning I’m glad I didn’t order the shower gel bars , decided to get the perfume and they are out of stock . Really need to not linger !
