Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Not sure what happened with my elf order, but I ordered a full size and mini toner, and a lip balm. £7 delivered. Great price, and I really needed toner - and am trying not to spend money on impulse purchases.

What I received looks good, but apart from the mini toner is not at all what I ordered.

Do I go through the faff of returning?

If you’ve received all that for £7 I’d keep it. That’s a steal!

YeahWellWhyNot · 14/11/2024 22:05

@hugsI'd keep that lot too.

hugsandpugs · 14/11/2024 22:06

@MidnightMilkman just had a look at the elf site and the products you have there are worth £40 😵

@SootspriteSearcher did you get manga on Harper Collins site? My boys are just getting into it but I haven't a clue and it's hard to pick up secondhand!

No I didnt unfortunately. I've mostly picked up from vinted and when I've bought new I tend to go to forbidden planet as they do 3 for 2. If you are looking online, world of books have alot secondhand and pretty good prices!

How old are they? I can ask dd for recommendations she has read ALOT of manga, I dread to think how much her bookshelves full are worth 🫣 she's been reading it for around 5 years now.

Has she read Nimona? Absolutely excellent LGBTQ graphic novel that I have bought for all the teens I know.

She hasn't, I have added it to the list! It says it's a Netflix film too!

Waffles21 · 14/11/2024 22:11

Thanks @Linnki think that was it, will keep an eye to see if any deals come up, thank you!

Beingacatbed · 14/11/2024 22:11

@ArthurChristmas22 I’m exactly the same! So many bits for the girls but finding it much harder to finding stocking fillers for ds13 so very happy when i find any :)

SweetPeaPods · 14/11/2024 22:13

I went real life shopping at a local designer outlet today. They now have a rituals shop where everything was a little bit cheaper than normal. They have some travel bits in a 3 for £10, includes shower foam, hand creams etc which I thought would make lovely stocking fillers.

Any ideas for a book for a 12 year old who is just getting into politics/current affairs? Since starting secondary school she has been very interested in what is happening in the news/the US election. She has also been learning about African stereotypes at school. I’m thinking she would like some sort of simple world history or politics book.

@Scutterbug
links for the mcguigans wine
shiraz

Chardonnay

Wasn’t there an issue with this one year? I seem to remember ordering what I thought was 6 bottles (it says a case of 6 but pic is of 1 bottle) and only 1 was delivered. Then arguing with Amazon about it. I think I got 2 bottles in the end but customer service wouldn’t budge any further.

Threeboystwocatsandadog · 14/11/2024 22:24

JDWilliams have 20% of almost everything with the code STARS. unfortunately not off electronics. They also have a free Christmas throw with a £50 spend. I bought 2 nutribullet portable blenders to get the throw but I need two more of THESE in different colours. Has anyone seen them or any codes to get them cheaper than £29.99 please.

Would a subscription to The Week Junior be suitable? Think it’s a kid-friendly news magazine, but not sure of the age range

I'm not sure if it's too simple but usborne do a book on politics.

And the good night stories for rebel girls is good as it's all about inspiring women through history.

thereisamouseinthehouse · 14/11/2024 22:40

Weird Fish have 30% off pretty much everything at the moment.
Last year, both the England cricket and the England FA store had some good Black Friday deals.

Any recommendations for bubble tea kits?
Any ones to avoid? Are they worth it or not? Opinions very helpful.

I am looking for a Vegan one and I don’t want to spend more than £20

Thanks
