Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Thanks for the Laithwaites info. I could see something I'd buy as a gift for around £50, but now need to get it up to £80 instead to get the £40 off! I can't buy separate things as I'll need it posted straight to the recipient.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get nice satin pjs for teen DD? She wants long sleeved/long legs and pastel colours. She's not tall enough for adult sizes.

Tried all the obvious clothes shops. I don't mind paying for food quality, the only ones we can find are on amazon which would cost likely fall apart after one wash!

Hoping someone might know of a lesser known brand?

Thank you

Have you tried cyberjammies?

My top tip is make sure you’ve got the Airtime rewards app. You get money off your mobile bill. You register your cards with it, then just shop as normal so works with TCB and other discounts. My OH has a work phone so I registered his cards on my account. Most discounts are 2-5% but it all adds up. I get about £150 deducted off my bill per year. My referral code is in the other thread where we can both benefit from a £5 bump 🙂

I sat on the Grumm offer overnight , and although checking the reviews this morning I’m glad I didn’t order the shower gel bars , decided to get the perfume and they are out of stock . Really need to not linger !

I really like the shower gel bars and the shampoo.

hugsandpugs · 15/11/2024 10:12

So the extra order I done with ELF to get the free birthday lip gloss has arrived - for some reason it kept letting me add the lip gloss to basket and they have actually sent me four of them out free!!

I didn't realise this either. If you open your tesco app, there's a section that says "coupons". To receive coupons, you have to follow the instructions to allow marketing. You literally just select accept and then you should hopefully start getting coupons based on your shopping habits. I did this 2 days ago but don't have any coupons showing yet... I'm hoping the money off clothing comes through before the 25% ends.

I got £1.50 off £6 of toilet roll and then several for bonus points on a certain level of spend on items where I'd normally buy a slightly lower value! You also need to open each voucher and add it to your Clubcard to use.

Borris · 15/11/2024 10:23

can anyone recommend an ice cream maker for DD? Budget is around £50. Ideally not too big so it doesn’t take up too much cupboard space.

I’m guessing with the budget the only options will be the pre frozen bowl type?

Iggi999 · 15/11/2024 10:24

If anyone needs calendars (photo ones) vista print are doing one of their many offers - 3 for the price of 1. Handy if doing for the GPS!
code is 3X1
They also have 50% off customised mugs.
Ive ordered from there before, they are decent quality

Someone posted this one before - it's £89 on Amazon but has a 45% off voucher so comes down to around 50. It's a condenser type.
I don't have one, so read the reviews to check! But I am tempted.

Not happy with Elf ... I jumped on the Baaaaa-nd wagon 🐑 on Monday and eventually had the £10 off, birthday and free shipping rewards show. Went to pay for my basket and the money off reward wasn't showing but was in my rewards history. So thought never mind I'll just use the free shipping, popped a lip oil and reckoned I'd get that and my birthday gift. But shipping was applied of £4!

Cobyached Elf and asked if they would reinstate the missing offer. They say they can't but would refund me £10 after. But even then I can only use one reward at a time apparently Confused

I did say a "colleague" had been able to use all three that day but they aren't budging.

So really can't be arsed to pay delivery and buy an item just to get the free gloss.

So I'm very huffy at all you lucky buggers who were able to make it work for you! Guess some you win some you lose.

Greenkindness · 15/11/2024 10:46

Just got my Olaplex order without the free gift - no mention that it wasn’t going to be coming to me. Have emailed - hopefully it’s coming later.

CaptainBenson · 15/11/2024 10:47

TK Maxx had some good bargains today. Lots of toys and all their Xmas gifting sections are set out.

I got EVE LOM cleanser red sticker reduced to £5 in the beauty clearance area. Nothing wrong with the packaging, all still sealed so I'm very chuffed.

And the Smashers Light up Dino egg was £6.99. They're £10 everywhere else!

If you have a child that likes the Smashers eggs, Tesco also had a pack of two standard ones for £10.

Elf also didn't work for me. Order was there on PayPal (at authorise stage) but never went through on app even though tried twice. I just gave up as already have the benefit mascara for niece but some lip glosses would have made me Best Auntie Ever.

CalliopePlantain · 15/11/2024 11:28

Rymans have hotties for £15, not sure if just store specific though

Not sure what happened with my elf order, but I ordered a full size and mini toner, and a lip balm. £7 delivered. Great price, and I really needed toner - and am trying not to spend money on impulse purchases.

What I received looks good, but apart from the mini toner is not at all what I ordered.

Do I go through the faff of returning?

I had the same issue (though received primer rather than mascara). I emailed them and they offered a refund or sending out the correct item. I plumped for the latter - we shall see if it arrives!
