Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone have any idea where I can get nice satin pjs for teen DD? She wants long sleeved/long legs and pastel colours. She's not tall enough for adult sizes.

Tried all the obvious clothes shops. I don't mind paying for food quality, the only ones we can find are on amazon which would cost likely fall apart after one wash!

Hoping someone might know of a lesser known brand?

Thank you

@jocktamsonsbairn I am hoping Yeti might do something for Black Friday as have a few things to get. They are amazing though so recommend even if you do have to pay full price.

I am looking for bouji gardening gifts for my dad. Budget up to £200. I usually get him a Whichford pot which he loves but wondering if there is anything else that is a guaranteed hit but that he won’t already have.

Implementations tools are lovely - copper which repels slugs. The long Dutch hoe & the short hand hoe are both great

Hi everyone
Can anybody remember the thermal mini sticker printer that you can use to print revision notes etc please? Thinking it may be good for my son for his GCSE revision and now can’t find it! Thanks so much

https://uk.thermanote.com/products/thermanote-wireless-thermal-printer
great quality compared to the Amazon made in/posted from china thingies. £21 something each if you buy 3.
On another note, on another thread, poster mentioned Dior bundles with two minis for around £20 from their own website. Can’t find any, has anyone seen them this year? Many thanks

We got some gorgeous satin pyjamas at Night Store last BF. Really good price and personalised embroidery for just a couple of pounds more.

Does anyone have any recommendations for books on the Harper Collins website? I've already bought dd1 some manga so would like to get some books for dd2. She's 12, and will read pretty much any genre as long as theres LGBT characters in it and the book isn't too thick.

She's obsessed with the heartstopper books. I got her quite a few other books with LGBT characters for her birthday from charity shops but she's finished them all now so looking for more and don't have time to scour charity shops! Although not sure I will top the lesbian flag wrapping paper on a box saying DD2's LGBTQ+ library! She declared it her favourite and best present!

Has she read Nimona? Absolutely excellent LGBTQ graphic novel that I have bought for all the teens I know.

WhippetsRule · 14/11/2024 20:09

Wow thank you for the quick replies on the satin pyjamas, off to check them out

ArthurChristmas22 · 14/11/2024 20:11

@Beingacatbed thank you! I've been REALLY struggling on stocking things for my DS. His sister is currently doing very well out of Benefits makeup offers and PLouise. At 14, it's just getting more tricky!

LostMyRubySlippers · 14/11/2024 20:26

Think this is quite a regular offer but Amazon have a couple of different cases of mcguigans wine on offer where you can tick to apply a discount. If you also do it as subscribe & save then it brings the price down to approx £25 for 6 bottles

SpottyBumPony · 14/11/2024 20:33

Ancient and brave collagen

Code KATIESNUTRITION gives 20% off, it works on subscriptions too. I got the true collagen down to £18.75 with free delivery. It looks like a social media code, I don’t know the original person.

There’s a £10 referral scheme, I don’t know if it stacks. I’ve put my code on the referrals thread

Hi I've seen some people asking about m n s discounts. At the moment they have 15% student discount on mens women's and home ware if that helps and you know a handy student. Unfortunately not on kids wear for the pjs I need!

Darkbutstarrynight · 14/11/2024 21:12

My Laithwaite's wine and cheese hampers have come....2 hampers and some separate red wine was a total of about £42 as used referral off the referral thread to get £40 off a first £80 order. They've got some lovely hampers of food and wine gifts, as well as deals on (multi packs) of wine etc

@SootspriteSearcher did you get manga on Harper Collins site? My boys are just getting into it but I haven't a clue and it's hard to pick up secondhand!

juicyjellybaby · 14/11/2024 21:23

No 7 brush set down to £5.06 at boots would make a nice stocking filler

Another thank you for the Harper Collins code, £50 later. I must not buy anymore books, also need to step away from this thread 😬

Out of stock now 😞

Darkbutstarrynight · 14/11/2024 21:33

@Ceejadess
I am rubbish at linking but if you go to page 1 of this thread reastie has kindly added the link in the first post. I have popped my referral code on there, but there are others :) Add the code, make sure the order initially totals over £80 then it will apply it automatically

MidnightMilkman · 14/11/2024 21:52

Not sure what happened with my elf order, but I ordered a full size and mini toner, and a lip balm. £7 delivered. Great price, and I really needed toner - and am trying not to spend money on impulse purchases.

What I received looks good, but apart from the mini toner is not at all what I ordered.

Do I go through the faff of returning?
