Thread 11 - the one where I’m nostalgic for a cinnamon bum kit

1000 replies

Reastie · 13/11/2024 15:09

Thanks @Beautifulsunflowers for the title. It was close between that and E.L.F on a shelf and some others - too many to choose from!

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I also just purchased my first ever Gruum freebie. A set of 4 roll on fragrances, supposedly worth £48, on the usual “just pay postage” offer.

I admit I wouldn’t usually get things from there as a gift. I know people have said they like them, but the constant freebies do seem to devalue the brand. However DS specifically wanted roll on fragrances, so there will be good for a stocking filler!

No code, but available at the bottom of this link https://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/news-offers/offers/gruum-18/

Afternoon all. Could anyone pm me a code from UNiDAYS for a company called bo and tee please? I'd never normally ask for that as my nephew gives me a code but the item DD would like is selling out quickly.

Thank you very much! Love this thread every year.

FriendlyLaundryMonster · 14/11/2024 16:26

picked up some trousers for Ds at Tesco with the 25% off offer, but it’s still only 30 days returns, which comes up too short for Christmas. It’s not somewhere we normally buy clothes from, so not sure whether to risk keeping them.

ReindeerAndChristmasCheer · 14/11/2024 16:28

@Lovemusic82 I’ve just bought some hotties from TKMaxx for £12.99, they seem to have lots of options.

Beautifulsunflowers · 14/11/2024 16:34

I made a thread title!! Can't believe it! Thanks @Reastie

One litre bottle of Baileys reduced to £8.50 at Morrisons or £10 at Sainsbury's or Costco.

Thank you SO MUCH for this @AnotherBreakfast

It was particularly bargainous for me because they sell Leckie Study guides. I literally had £100 worth in my Amazon basket ready to check out, but got them from Harper Collins instead so a £50 saving.

Obviously I then spent those savings on other books 😂Their website isn’t great as it makes it look like they have a small range, but it is their entire catalog.

I actually found it easiest to have two browsers side by side and search on Amazon to get better pictures and some reviews. They have some beautiful cloth bound editions, boxed editions, even signed copies of some (I noticed the naturalist collection books, which are quite collectible), and Mina Lima as a PP pointed out.

Just highlighting in case it helps others 50% off everything at Harper Collins with code BLACKFRIDAY50

https://harpercollins.co.uk

Thanks so much! This was an incredible discount. Saved £35 off my Amazon basket.

You have to spend £45 in Morrisons to get that price, however. And have their loyalty card.

Talking of Cinnamon Buns
The Range had little cast iron pan/cinnamon bun Kits for about £6.99 when I was in today (can't use the pan on an induction hob so I didn't buy 😕)

Does anyone have a spare O2 priority code or LPU Legacy code for the Linkin Park presale for June 2025? Just seen they have one UK date and DW would love to see them live (especially after losing out on Coldplay tix earlier this year 🫣😩)

imnottoofussed · 14/11/2024 17:16

O2 priority isn't a code I don't think. It's usually a link from the app straight to the presale so don't think can be shared

Presale is 19th 1pm so no access currently

imnottoofussed · 14/11/2024 17:18

You can preorder the album to get presale

Has anyone seen and ‘hotties’ (I think that what they are called) on offer? The ones you pop in the microwave? Saw some at a local garden centre but they were £20 each.

Just bought this lovely throw from Debenhams, would make a lovely gift (but it’s for myself), they have a few on offer.

My TK Max had loads of animal cuddly hotties last week for £10-15. Got a lovely sloth for DS for £12

I’m way behind on the thread but got an email just now from Vera Tucci slippers for £10. I’ve been very happy with everything I’ve ordered from them previously. If I remember correctly postage wasn’t cheap but lots of good bargain gifts made it worthwhile.

yoshiblue · 14/11/2024 18:13

@Beingacatbed thanks so much, I've wanted a wallet for my son so that's perfect!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 14/11/2024 18:16

From the Dunelm gift tree thing, I picked up two tags for men. One is relatively easy and wants a Primark tracksuit or PJs (but no indication of size). But the other want “exercise equipment”. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe dynabands of similar?

I’ve also got them each a wash bag and toiletries from the boots offers(the FCUK sport one, and the men’s dove one), so thanks to the person earlier in the thread who linked them. I’ll probably add some socks too.

Thanks for this! I quite like some of their soaps, and am lacking sticking fillers for DH, so this was useful!

Penguin men's toiletries half price at Superdrug - nice gifts for teenage boys

AnotherBreakfast · 14/11/2024 19:15

So pleased I've been able to give back a deal after the many I've enjoyed the past few years. 📚💐🙌

I managed to pick up a couple of Nat geographic books (legends and lore / epic fails from history) and a couple of lit fic books for my friend.
