Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Once you've used the Look Fantastic referral link and made an account, how do you get the £10 off? There's nothing showing on mine?

I've used this one from Tesco before and loved it. I found it nicer than the baked in ones. M&S also apparently have one but I've never managed to find it instore. Seems to be in stock with Ocado though

Thank you. I’ll give this one a try. I’m popping to M&S today, so will check there too.

Puppy toy is down to £20 from £70 at Argos. I've done a google search and it's the cheapest I can find it. The entertainer are still selling for £65. www.argos.co.uk/product/3152436

I spotted this on Amazon and think it'll be great as a gift. My DC in Year 6 will love it - they're all currently into making bookmarks and folding paper into animals etc.

(Sorry no link as I am awful at them!)

Any recommendations for a kids waterproof camera? I'm happy for one that comes with a waterproof case. Budget under £50.

Did anyone else buy the Cusinart cordless mini chopper? I got one for family secret Santa but now reading some reviews which say some don't work. Can't test as sent to it to house where we are spending Christmas. Interested to hear other people's experience of them.

I think it was two years ago that bakedin kits were the most sought after item on here from Amazon, their cinnamon buns kept price dropping to about £2.50 - I’m nostalgic now for a cinnamon bum kit…..

Beautifulsunflowers · 10/11/2024 09:20

BUN! I meant BUN!

For anyone who is specifically after an Instax camera, Boots has an offer on for a white camera with a case, a photo album and 10 photos and some double sided stickers to attach your photos into your album.
Looks like it's £90 (instead of £100), then there is £10 off electrical dropping it to £80.

If you also have a student card associated with your boots card you then also get a further 10% off dropping it down to £72 which is a decent deal.

Addictedtobeauty · 10/11/2024 09:45

@WeAreTheWeirdosSanta I’ve signed up to tbe bird and blend newsletter but there is no sign of £5 off my first order. Do you know how I get this please?

Once you've used the Look Fantastic referral link and made an account, how do you get the £10 off? There's nothing showing on mine?

I found this too - on looking into it there is a huge list of exclusions from what I can tell so it maybe depends what you are ordering.

SootspriteSearcher · 10/11/2024 09:56

I think the ikea deals must be store dependent.

The large sharks in Southampton were reduced to £15 and the smaller ones £5. But they had pandas reduced to £3 and rats for £1.50.

And for any horror loving kids! Asda had all their Halloween stuff half price, I got dd1 a creepy doll on a trike who moves and says come play with me for £7.50, treehouse of horror advent for £18, and animal skeletons for £4 plus some masks and little bats etc. Now to find a vintage furby and she is done!!

I've been ignoring all the sol de jenero chat but dd2 has mentioned liking the smell of the body spray. Was there a dupe of these somewhere? Or any recommendations for cheap nice perfumes/body sprays. She is very liberal when spraying so nothing too strong or I will also need a bargain gas mask to walk past her room!

And another bargain any Olivia Rodriguez fans there is a jumper in the kids section of primark for £10. Dd2 was very excited and bought with her birthday money! Decent quality too.

£4.02 for 30 of these Stackable bear pencils if anybody has to buy class gifts

Thank you so much for this I just got 2 sets as my autistic pencil loving 6 year old dd who loves stacking things will love these. Thank you!

Famousthehero · 10/11/2024 10:06

By the way, not a bargain but my craft loving almost 8yo was given a cool gift yesterday I think from Lidl - the Crelando window art kit (like This at hobbycraft but more pens included)
you colour in a design with the painty pens on the clear film, and it dries into a peelable cling you can stick on windows, mirrors, tiles etc
i think it’s really cool and something I’ve not seen before, the ones she’s made so far have been lovely
