Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I think this is the kids camera that people were looking at? If so, 50% voucher is back, taking it to £20.

weareallqueens · 09/11/2024 22:55

Halfords used to have a deal for £5 off if you signed up for their back in stock alerts. Not sure if that was just a post Covid thing though.

Raindancer411 · 09/11/2024 23:25

Finally managed to get the Furby for my daughter. www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/fashion-and-dolls/interactive-pets/furby-purple-interactive-toy/p/222590

Also used the BOGO code on Claire's and got two furblets to go with it.

Can anyone recommend bargainous tea towels please? Pattered rather than plain.

The Ulster Weavers ones from last year were such a hit that people would like similar this year, but I can’t bring myself to pay the £7-10 that they cost most places, given that they are “extras”.

I thought Whistlefish might be good, but most of theirs are Cornish places which wouldn’t have any relevance.

Someone else also mentioned Dunelm but was just looking so thought I'd post a link, they have a few at £5 each

For those wondering about Olaplex products - I really rate it. I lost my hair due to chemotherapy and then it didn't grow back properly. It was patchy and incredibly fine and flyaway. Sometimes I looked like I'd had an electric shock because it all stood on end! Olaplex really helped.

piggychicken · 10/11/2024 00:50

Ah thank you @Dormouse1940 - I might hold out and see if they have any Black Friday offers for now!

Hiya can I ask which one you used? I'm losing my hair with long covid and tried many different shampoos to try and help it. Thank you and hope you are doing well

For Bourbon buffs, Gentleman Jack £20 on amazon atm
Sorry, no link 😞

Q2C4 · 10/11/2024 01:33

@MsSheldonCooper how easy is it to clean the tea pot? I find cafetières tricky (getting the grounds out) so hoping it's easier than that?!

SweetPeaPods · 10/11/2024 06:18

Wow one day away and I've missed pages of a new thread.

If anyone is looking for a men's watch I can highly recommend fossil. They often have a few bargains in their outlet section on their website and they offer free engraving too

50% off mancave gift sets- husband is usually 100% Milton brown for treat smellies but has asked for this instead as he loves it!

@YorkshireFelix
I had the same request re pink iPad but saw your post so didn’t ask (dithering too much meant I missed the pink one on John Lewis which was the cheapest place I could find one). I wondered about waiting for Black Friday but decided I didn’t want to miss out completely so I decided to check on Very and got a silver one (will buy a pink case for it). There is currently 20% off for new credit accounts (you can pay off straight away by debit card option). This brought the 10.1 (2022) down to £251 with delivery fee (so save £60 and some pence).

Hope this helps 🤞

Does anyone have this camera? I'm twitching to buy for my almost 10 year old

Super easy - that’s why I like it. You literally just remove the lid, empty the tea out and then give both parts a quick wash / rinse.

much less faff than a cafetière or a teapot with a removable cage bit for tea.

we tried this out at a cafe and were wowed by the simplicity of it and he loved it so got it for his birthday.

Does anyone remember the brand of the cinnamon rolls kit that were a huge hit with lots of us last year or the year before please?

It was 'BakedIn'

Cherandcheralike · 10/11/2024 07:45

@minsmum we also use the library app for audio books. Really easy to start and free. I've then moved on to Spotify premium on a deal. There's so much to listen to!

Having an autistic teen, I'd much rather he was brushing his teeth with HiSmile than not at all (which was the previous state). Some fluoride better than none.

Oranurse is a non foaming & unflavoured fluoride toothpaste recommended by dentists for people with autism & those who don'tlikeminty flavours. You can buy it from Amazon.

Oh no!

Does anyone know of an alternative kit for cinnamon buns that is as simple and tasty as these please?

Looks like some good offers on fragrance and beauty at Debenhams.

I've used this one from Tesco before and loved it. I found it nicer than the baked in ones. M&S also apparently have one but I've never managed to find it instore. Seems to be in stock with Ocado though
