Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

How would you feel if you just received loo rolls as your gifts? Practical and will be used?

Oh come on, that's hardly a fair comparison. Something the whole family wipes their arses on Vs something that's just for you and helps you smell good. Fairer comparison would be shower gel in a scent you like.. which I would be happy to receive.

Much like everything else, opinions will differ. That doesn't make them wrong.

Loo rolls isn’t the same as body sprays though is it? Personally my teen appreciates Lynx sets alongside his other gifts as he goes through heaps of the stuff!

okayhescereal · 13/11/2024 07:37

@ClothingTwin I buy my brother novelty loo paper every year. Have done since about 2004 😂 he rolls with it!

fourelementary · 13/11/2024 07:39

Lynx tin with a tenner wrapped around it? That would go down well!!

shinny · 13/11/2024 07:41

I’m cross about Olaplex as I ordered shampoo and conditioner and they’ve emailed to say no free gift. I’ve asked for some kind of replacement rather than 15% off so will see what they come back with - if anything!

Summerdew · 13/11/2024 07:43

Where are you getting Lynx for a pound a tin? I thought I’d done well with the half price set on Amazon, clearly a bargain amateur! 😄
I think it’s fine to get Lynx as a top up or token gift, DDs get body spray by the bucket load as a gift and I don’t see the difference. Older teen nephew prefers superdry sprays if that’s a different option.

Hi
Any ideas for nephews and their partners ? All in their 20's . Budget £30 but would be great if I could get it below this .
I was wondering about a pub snack hamper or similar.
Or has anyone seen something else which would suit a couple ?

Thanks

Thank you to whoever posted about the Skye Candle co deal using a referral code. My first order arrived yesterday and it's gorgeous!

If you use a link in the referral board you get £5 off. Cheapest candle in the 40% off sale is £8.75 with free P&P so you can get a lovely candle for £3.75. They have diffusers too and my one which arrived yesterday is beautiful. I may have used dd and DS emails as referrals and bought more... 😂

@jocktamsonsbairn how do you get to the sale candles? I can't see anything cheaper than £14. Thanks 🙂

I've just had an email from Amazon regarding the green and blacks chocs posted on here......ordered cancelled. ...gutted!

Same. Came through last night. I'm quite annoyed actually as a lot of items I saw on here the past couple of weeks I stuck on S&S for delivery this week and all have been cancelled. I think lesson learned for me if I really want it just buy it at the price 🫣

Vimaybe · 13/11/2024 08:41

Chocolate oranges are down to 95p in Tesco, cheapest I've seen all year. (Plain flavour only. Other flavours are conveniently placed next to them full price, though 🙃)

Those of you who got the Oanie slippers ... do yours squeak?!!! Mine are harmonising with my creaky knees Grin

🤣 sorry but this has made me laugh. I ordered the slippers and gave them to my DS to give me for Christmas, I didn’t open the packet so they would be a surprise. When I told him he still owed me the money he made a face and said are you sure you want to keep them before I pay you - he doesn’t think they’re me apparently 🤣 so if they squeak too on Christmas Day that will be an absolute bonus

Scout2016 · 13/11/2024 08:54

I don't know what's going on with my Boots order. I had confirmation email, dispatch email for 2 of the 3 items as 3rd (pillowcase) comes from elsewhere...then a text and email saying I was being refunded an amount that works out same as I paid for the 2 items they had supposedly already sent out.

Sits on hands sits on hands...

But hypothetically speaking...where does the cash back go to...?

nicky2512 · 13/11/2024 08:57

My almost 19 year old ds still loves to get lynx much to his sisters disgust! Also likes posh sprays (ie anything that costs more than a fiver 🤣).
He is also happy with sweets of any sort but especially a jumbo bag of Percy pigs.

redjoker · 13/11/2024 08:58

Boots have SAVE25 again but you'll have to be fast as 3000 customers only

mumonthehill · 13/11/2024 09:01

50% off again at Not on the highstreet. I got a nice make up bag to pop some of the beauty haul bargains in.

ZIGGY911 · 13/11/2024 09:05

Amazon have recently delivered items not in packaging. Do I have to say it's a gift for it to be boxed so not to give away what the item is?

It's Rakuten, new sign ups get an additional cashback of £25.00 on their purchases (once per person). It tracks within an hour and shows as confirmed within a few hours. Then it gets scheduled for payout into your bank the 15th of the following month.

I already used mine on the other beauty box they released last week, so I can't use it again, otherwise I woul dbe buying this one too!

I joined and made a purchase but not with boots and mine still shows as pending 😬

psuedocream3 · 13/11/2024 09:14

@hugsandpugs Different retailers have different timescales for confirming purchases, I've only used Boots to get £25 off so only know what happens with Boots.

myvolvohasavulva · 13/11/2024 09:15

Popping candy Terry's chocolate oranges in asda yesterday.. I think exclusive to them again? I couldn't get any at all last year so might be worth checking now if you want them..
