Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Last year the Ariana grande cloud perfume went down to I think £27 for 100ml. If anyone sees it for that price again please please let me know. I don't really have the budget for it but I'd like to get Dd it as hers is almost run out.

It’s £36 on Amazon, maybe worth adding it to a list and keeping an eye on it there! 🎄

The Vtech DJ mixer seems to be back in stock.
I've been watching it for a week or so as it went out of stock and I didnt want it enough to pay more than the offer price! I've got it click and collect to my Sainsburys local. It was coming up as available for delivery too. (Discounted to £30 still)

Thanks so much, I missed it last time but have managed to order one for store collection at the weekend.

Will you report back to say if referral code and app discount code work together please

They don’t

Apparently you need to be a customer of mobile contract AND home broadband for the Vodafone deal 😏👎 just contacted them about it

I have both, and no such reward for me 🙄

Gustavo1 · 12/11/2024 23:57

Just to say I tried the appy25 on bloom and wild and it popped up that I’d already used it. I have ordered there before. The pop up offered me a consolation 10% off so still worth trying it.

currently just shy of £37 on amazon atm. I know what you mean, would love so much cheaper, esp as my DDs have told me they would take away from me. But have been tracking since last yr and so far is the cheapest I've seen. Think its kind of a game of chance etc...

Thanks for the Cuisinart recommendation. Ice cream maker for my daughter and portable blender for a pilot friend

I need to buy some toiletries for 14 and 16 year old boys. They're top up presents so looking to spend about a tenner each.

Is Lynx still good for these ages or have they grown out of Lynx? Any particular scents? I only have girls so have no idea what's "in" with boys😃

It is as low as £1 a tin to buy. It isn't really a gift but a necessity- a bit like giving Tampax or own brand toothpaste as a gift.

My son still remembers the 14 Boots gift sets of cheap deodorant/body wash Christmas. It was so depressing and thoughtless as he ended up with no real gifts. For most teens their parents buy their toiletries.

Unless the family are on the breadline then Lynx is not a good gift.

I can pm one if you like? If anyone has a Vodafone gingerbread one I'd be grateful!

OohShakiraShakira · 13/11/2024 07:11

I've had an email from evri to say they have my olaplex parcel, but I've had no dispatch email from olaplex. So no idea if my free gift will be included or not 🤷‍♀️

Ocean59 · 13/11/2024 07:11

PenguinIce · 12/11/2024 22:34

I ordered the Olaplex deal on Sunday and have just had a email to say my order is on the way. The items listed on the dispatch email includes the free gift.

Me too.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 13/11/2024 07:12

Those of you who got the Oanie slippers ... do yours squeak?!!! Mine are harmonising with my creaky knees Grin

Lynx isn’t really all that cheap anymore & I personally think it’s good as gift as it’s something practical that someone will use. Rather than something that may end up chucked in a drawer and never used 😬😊

jocktamsonsbairn · 13/11/2024 07:16

Thank you to whoever posted about the Skye Candle co deal using a referral code. My first order arrived yesterday and it's gorgeous!

If you use a link in the referral board you get £5 off. Cheapest candle in the 40% off sale is £8.75 with free P&P so you can get a lovely candle for £3.75. They have diffusers too and my one which arrived yesterday is beautiful. I may have used dd and DS emails as referrals and bought more... 😂

GoodIsGoodEnough · 13/11/2024 07:21

I haven't had anything from Olaplex yet.

To those who wanted the Swuishmallow advent, Freemans have just cancelled mine and the socks I'd ordered to get the free delivery haven't been sent, but rather a jumper. Not a great experience!

pinkchampagne1 · 13/11/2024 07:23

Thanks for the information on the Olaplex order. It seems strange that some who ordered after me have had dispatch emails that include the free gifts, yet they told me that they had sold out. I have emailed to ask if I could cancel the order but if that can’t be done then I will refuse the parcel if it arrives when I am in.

How would you feel if you just received loo rolls as your gifts? Practical and will be used?

CarrieMoonbeams · 13/11/2024 07:26

I've just had an email to say that the Molton Brown Advent Calendar is reduced by 25% now, taking it down from £225 to £168.75. Postage is free and you'll get prompted to add a free sample at checkout too.

I did notice that they offer a 10% discount for new email subscribers, but don't know if that would stack.

Mentaldays · 13/11/2024 07:32

For the teenage boys top up gift I’d get a Crimpit….mine uses it loads!

atesomanybananas · 13/11/2024 07:33

Can anyone help with Guerlain perfume? DD is after a specific fragrance that’s £299! It’s pretty exclusive so doubt there’s hope, but if I don’t ask ….
