Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Have missed all the Elf. No £10 off, no birthday gift, am not a key worker, so only thing is free delivery. Gutted :(

beetr00 · 11/11/2024 20:25

Someone mentioned a karaoke machine upthread

This pink kids one, on Amazon, for £13.59 (for next 20 mins only)

Scout2016 · 11/11/2024 20:32

@juicyjellybaby the John Lewis one has been recommended to me on this thread. It is made for them by a well known company I just can't think who sorry.

redjoker · 11/11/2024 20:32

That was me. Elf give you a whole page of ways to earn points. You can even earn points by playing a game on their website. I got mine up to 500 and used them to add a free mascara to my basket. Explore the rewards page on their site it's very comprehensive 😀

@mybrainisbusybeingawesome @Broken12 I think I missed something - how are you getting free samples? It said free minis on orders over £35, your orders appear to have been less than that. I’m getting FOMO 😅

This is me! When I went to work I had no interest in Elf, did not need any cosmetics (@IlovePond - you know this to be true!!) yet I come home and scroll through this thread with a brew and bam - I've now got the huff as was about to pay for an order but now my £10 off rewards disappeared 😁 total FOMO!

flumposie · 11/11/2024 20:41

Just had my laithwaites delivery , 6 bottles of wine and 12 beers for just over £40, thanks to whoever posted about £40 off an £80 spend. Bargain.

Thelifeofawife · 11/11/2024 20:41

@mybrainisbusybeingawesome of course! I forgot about that, I had already done my order when I saw it. It’s been a long day 😅
I will go on and do it anyway though as I’ve still got a birthday gift to claim so I’ll need to make a purchase again at some point

Lisamari99 · 11/11/2024 20:42

I didn't get free samples :(

Haha, there’s no hope for any of us! I have bought some beauty advent calendars and beauty boxes, so I really don’t actually need to buy anything else, but who can resist such bargains!
I’m still annoyed that when I bought my Elemis TSV I only got a £5 discount because I did my order early hours of the morning, then later a £10 discount came up. I bought an additional set to make up for it, and got £10 off that…there was logic in there somewhere for me

Thelifeofawife · 11/11/2024 20:49

@Webbb the birthday offer will come it just takes a while, an hour or so after setting up the account/adding your birthday seems to be the standard

Thelifeofawife · 11/11/2024 21:04

Wholetthedogsoutwhowhowho · 11/11/2024 20:44

I didn't get free samples :(

I’ve just gone back on the app and noticed there are samples available to me, I don’t know if they were there before or if it’s just from the points I earned processing my order earlier on

DaffodilsInAJamjar · 11/11/2024 21:04

Oh this ELF deal is a challenge! Finally got the birthday gift showing in the app, but no sign of the email sign up £5 off £20 (?)

Was it a generic code, does anyone know?
Can anyone remember it if so?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 11/11/2024 21:05

@Thelifeofawife
Absolutely that's very logical ... we are your enablers people Grin

AndSoFinally · 11/11/2024 21:14

I managed to add 3 birthday rewards 😂

Every time I went away and came back the reward had reloaded but the last one was still in my basket. I suspect they'll just send one though

Mine was a free lip gloss for my bday but for some reason it gave me 2. Not sure about the samples x

I didn't get an email sign up discount, but not sure if it's because I did my order quite quickly within registering for an account.

Fluffbrush · 11/11/2024 21:26

Bohomoon have 70% off for Black Friday, some great bargains!

17caterpillars1mouse · 11/11/2024 21:27

@LizMay29

I've not read the rest of the thread yet so may have already been suggestion but my local smyths toys had a 3 for 2 deal on pokemon soft toys earlier today, depends how many you want to get

OohShakiraShakira · 11/11/2024 21:52

My daughter has a nice collection of perfumes now. She is getting another for Christmas, but I'm thinking a good gift for her would be some kind of perfume storage display thing? They're currently just on her bedside table.

Has anyone seen a good perfume storage solution?

I think it might be Janome

HopefulBeliever · 11/11/2024 21:53

Any tips for a head-torch? If preferable one that’s hard to damage. Thanks

QueenOfWeeds · 11/11/2024 21:59

@HopefulBeliever I’ve bought DH one of these beanie hat head torches for when he goes in the loft and it’s great. Possibly not what you’re after if you wanted a traditional one (in which case Millets have lots in the sale).

Thelifeofawife · 11/11/2024 22:14

@DaffodilsInAJamjar I set up 2 accounts and didn’t get a subscriber discount for either. Then when I logged back on later, it popped up saying about subscribing to receive £5 off, I added my email address in that box and it said I was already a subscriber 🫠
