Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

I tried about 7pm and people have posted after that time but maybe they ordered before.

It also went to £20 minimum spend and £5 off. So I couldn't understand how people got 3 items for £5 😂😂

I ordered at 11pm last night
You had to go into rewards and click to add the codes

okayhescereal · 11/11/2024 08:46

Oh dear. Worked out my festive spending last night and was super happy that I managed to stay £2.50pp under budget (!!). I have a huge family, and don't do secret santas etc, so this amounts to rather a lot saved. I went and bought some lovely photo Christmas cards (half price at photobox atm too until the end of today!!) as I thought that would be lovely and if we had the extra in the pot why not!

DH just told me that actually we'd budgeted less than I'd thought and I have in fact gone £2.50pp over budget....plus some photo Christmas cards...ahem. Oops!!!

Kids haven't written their FC letters yet either...am slightly in the spending dog house.

Thank goodness for this thread though, dread to think what the total would be without all of you.

Flubadubba · 11/11/2024 08:49

I used the elf code this morning. Are those of you who aren't seeing it using the app? The offer is under 'rewards' in the app.

Waystation · 11/11/2024 08:49

Re the Elf - I ordered at 7.59am (today) I had the £10 off and free delivery - spent £18 total cost £6 - no samples offered but still a good deal for stocking fillers. Used the app.

Oreyt · 11/11/2024 08:54

Oh I went onto the website. Didn't need anything anyway.

Muddyandwet · 11/11/2024 09:01

Thanks all - I hadn't realised the Elf purchase needed to be on the app. Got a £9 blush and a £6 mascara for £5 delivered - can't say fairer than that!

SettlerOfDivan · 11/11/2024 09:10

Is there a working Phillip Jones discount code? There's loads on the Internet but none of them seem to work.

lingmerth · 11/11/2024 09:10

Can anyone recommend where they bought magnetic chess from? It's all over my Facebook feed and loads on Amazon. Would rather buy from a recommendation!

What about a balance bike or skittle bug ?

Learning resources Tresure Chests - niche but these keep my little one occupied for ages!

Scooter, 2 wheels at the front, we got a bundle with the helmet on a Micro Scooter on Costco - best purchase for his 2nd birthday!

Garden tools (he loves digging and helping)

Gofindit scavenger hunt game (from amazon!) Not actually tried it but looks ingenious for toddlers and older kids a like!

lilachouse · 11/11/2024 09:13

Stanley quencher and iceflow £10 off on urban outfitters with STANLEY10 - no idea about price of these things but hopefully it makes a difference!

Nearlyadoctor · 11/11/2024 09:20

@Waffles21 - I bought DS this one , they also make hair clippers etc, so not even a girly make. Otherwise Tresemme make quite a few.

22% off everything excluding sale items at Boden with code T3B6

Dropthepilots · 11/11/2024 09:47

Re ELF I ordered last night and rewards section stated the £10 off only lasted until end of 10th Nov. Got 2 lip crayons normally £8 each for £6 total including postage. From the look of the App I think they do offers/rewards frequently!

thaegumathteth · 11/11/2024 09:49

Binky belle jewellery has 40% off with EARLYBF

I haven't bought from them before (or heard of them) but teenage Dd specifically asked for one of their necklaces

hugsandpugs · 11/11/2024 09:56

@LostMyRubySlippers thanks soo much for the elf tip! Just downloaded the app and bagged a hydrating coconut mist & lash extender mascara for £5 delivered! 🥳

Chatting to DC on the walk to school this morning and the following have been requested:
DS (4) spy gadgets (are the spy X Argos bits any good?), ninja things
DS (4) a walking, talking Santa that sings jingle bells and hands out presents, a machine that you put clothes in and it turns into a dinosaur (?!?)
DS (7) football cards, Minecraft for PS5
DS (9) Pokémon cuddly toys and cards

Does anyone have any tips or know of any offers?

Quietoldlady · 11/11/2024 10:23

@LizMay29 I saw some Pokémon cuddly toys on offer in Aldi last week, might be worth a visit.

Lidlisthebusiness · 11/11/2024 10:24

Another thanks for the Elf tip! I mentioned on the other thread how my 15yr old has shown an interest in makeup this year, so using all the codes I chose the snow globe brush set, lip kit (includes liner, oil and plumping pen)، brow gel, multistick, and eyeshadow primer. Then I got 2 free gifts of a mini brightening primer and SPF cream, and as it is actually my birthday next week a free full size lip plumping gloss as well! All for £36, which I'm pleased with. I think I'll just add an eyeshadow pallete and some skincare and that'll be that gift finished.

Although, I did see the make up storage things on Debenhams. Does anyone have one? Are they useful?

Ours went through a cuddly pokemon stage and the best prices/range I found was from Ali Express - delivery times can vary though and it’s worth checking seller reviews.
Or smyths currently have Some plushes on 3 for 2

Oh I’m gutted just noticed ELF have given me a free birthday gift - a lip gloss but I’ve already placed an order now so would cost me £4.50 to have the free gloss delivered 🙈
