Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Stock informer is a handy site http://www.stockinformer.co.uk/default.aspx?fullsite=1

Does anyone have any suggestions for gifts for a recently turned 2 year old? Family have asked us for ideas for our son, but honestly cannot think of anything and we've pretty much got all of his presents from us at this point. Happy for it to be something we can play with with him, or something he can play independently with as he has a new sibling coming very soon after Christmas! Preferably on the smaller side as we're running out of space 😬 open to all ideas though!

Unfortunately clothes aren't even an idea as he has a very impressive wardrobe I'm not jealous I swear

Depending on their budget maybe a season pass for a local farm or zoo etc - that way you can use it throughout the year for lots of days out win win 🤣😜

For the 2 year old -www.aldi.co.uk/bumper-car-red/p/736832814979700
I'd like one but they only come in child size.

My son will be 2 in the new year and we also have the space issue! I’ve asked for little football goals for the garden and he’s having a v tech basket ball hoop that’s interactive and height adjustable. Can be used inside or out!

Thank you @LostMyRubySlippers for the ELF tip. 2 lip balms, a lipstick and a plumping gloss for £5 delivered.

NB if you just happen to have a birthday in the next week it adds another reward of a full sized product (mine was the gloss).

Did it say during checkout re the free bday gift? ‘Happens’ to be my bday on Thursday but can’t see any details on it during check out? Thank you

Yes, it just came up in checkout.

Thanks for the remington hairdryer tips, I’m looking for a cheap but ok hairdryer for a 15yo ds with a diffuser. The ones on Amazon are a pinky white or purple, neither of which o think he’d like. Can anyone recommend one please? Thank you!

How do you get the birthday reward added? Mine today and I would love a gift!

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 11/11/2024 07:03

Thank you for Elf code. I have been allocated a 16 year old girl and an 8 year old boy in a charity secret Santa. Got the make up brush set for the girl.

BoilingHotand50something · 11/11/2024 07:09

Another thanks for the Elf tip. Two metallic eyeshadows for stockings and a setting spray for me for £8.

CalliopePlantain · 11/11/2024 07:15

That elf tip is ace! I’m making my mum a beauty stocking so have ordered some lip oils and the metallic eye shadow for next to nothing.

Famousthehero · 11/11/2024 07:34

LittleMousewithcloggson · 11/11/2024 00:49

If anyone has a teenage girl to buy for - but haven’t ordered from Elf as they aren’t sure if they use the makeup or skin products - then highly recommend the snow globe brush and blend set. Signing up takes it from £15 to £5 delivered which is an absolute bargain for some nice makeup brushes and sponges

Edited as accidently quoted wrong post. This is a follow on from @LostMyRubySlippers who said that signing up to the ELF app gives £10 off and free delivery (great post)

Edited

Thanks for this! DD isn’t in the make up years yet, so have got these brushes to put away

Houseofsardines · 11/11/2024 07:35

Felt on top of things, but the kids have been ill and am now behind as one dd has decided she definitely doesn’t want the our generation dolls (and accessories) that I bought and has completely revised her Christmas list- does anyone else ever have this problem?? 🙄
anyone got any good deals on cricket extra and heat press??

OohShakiraShakira · 11/11/2024 07:46

Well, I've so far snapped up the olaplex and elf bargains.... but for me 🫣 not sure that makes them bargains. I must now only buy for everyone else!

Oreyt · 11/11/2024 08:02

I can't get the elf discount to work 🤪

Ewock · 11/11/2024 08:06

The £10 off and free shipping popped up on the top of the basket page. I downloaded the app and the birthday gift was at the top ofbthat.
You have to press the rewards button and it opens to show the rewards you can have. You have to click each one to add it

Muddyandwet · 11/11/2024 08:18

For the Elf thing, it's offering me £5 off a £20 order when I sign up for their mailing list. Did I miss a code?

Bippityboppitybooo · 11/11/2024 08:23

I think the elf deal finished yesterday? I used it last night, thanks!

shinny · 11/11/2024 08:25

11% off at BrandAlley with SINGLESDAY11
(only applies to certain brands)

Calvin Klein boxers are £26 before the discount and that’s the cheapest I’ve seen and buy then every year - usually on amazon

Im off to Home Bargains for the first time later today - this thread has inspired me and I’ve very excited 😊

Broken12 · 11/11/2024 08:28

I used the elf code this morning but it did say it ended yesterday 🤷🏻‍♀️

re perfumes and aftershaves…I’ve just seen that the perfume shop do 15% off if you take an old empty bottle in to recycle. Never done this, just saw another post on it

Oreyt · 11/11/2024 08:37

Bippityboppitybooo · 11/11/2024 08:23

I tried about 7pm and people have posted after that time but maybe they ordered before.

It also went to £20 minimum spend and £5 off. So I couldn't understand how people got 3 items for £5 😂😂

Bippityboppitybooo · 11/11/2024 08:42

@oreyt I ordered about 11pm, but only the £15 brushes and a £5 eyeshadow, so £10 overall.
