Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

1000 replies

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Does anyone know if Nintendo switches are ever reduced? Theres some deals on bundles at the minute but non on the console and game combo I’m after. Im looking at signing up to a very account to get 20% off but I’d be wounded if I missed a later deal.

The Very deal is only 10% off of consoles, which still helps. Just be careful that it's very easy to complete the purchase without adding the code! I wish I'd held out until BF tbh as their customer service is awful.

IlovePond · 10/11/2024 22:24

20% off at Cult Beauty with this code: CBXVOUCHERCODES

@weareallqueens I can't get that to work. I've had three deliveries as keep forgetting to cancel when they're open but I click through all the cancel buttons and this is the end. Tried different reasons for wanting to cancel too.

I've no idea why mine worked. I gave financial circumstances for the reason then clicked no to all the other reasons. It ended with a sorry to see you go message and I got a confirmation email.

I've always emailed support@ beer52.com (no space, but formatting required that I add one here!).

They stock the mini uggs which are included.

jocktamsonsbairn · 10/11/2024 22:38

On that ass - free boxers. It is a subscription but says it's easy to cancel within 14 days. Can you tell I'm getting desperate for DS now???!

  • Duplo
  • Wooden train tracks (ikea or brio if flush)
  • Miniature teaset, pram/doll (imaginary play stuff)
  • Keyboard. The large orange cat one is fun but annoying.
  • Ikea toy kitchen and ikea toy saucepans/food.
FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 10/11/2024 22:40

Whoops, that was for @issantahereyet !

MerylSqueak · 10/11/2024 22:41

Thanks for the elf tip @LostMyRubySlippers. Absolute bargain. The free delivery and £10 off are just there in the basket to be added when you click through.

Does anyone have any suggestions for gifts for a recently turned 2 year old? Family have asked us for ideas for our son, but honestly cannot think of anything and we've pretty much got all of his presents from us at this point. Happy for it to be something we can play with with him, or something he can play independently with as he has a new sibling coming very soon after Christmas! Preferably on the smaller side as we're running out of space 😬 open to all ideas though!

Unfortunately clothes aren't even an idea as he has a very impressive wardrobe I'm not jealous I swear

What about a balance bike or skittle bug ?

fishfingersandchipsagain · 10/11/2024 22:49

Thank you @LostMyRubySlippers for the ELF tip. 2 lip balms, a lipstick and a plumping gloss for £5 delivered.

NB if you just happen to have a birthday in the next week it adds another reward of a full sized product (mine was the gloss).

fishfingersandchipsagain · 10/11/2024 22:51

Thank you @RainbowZebraWarrior . I checked on eBay for Regatta which made me realise what I was buying really was a bargain, so I stopped dithering. I did manage to get 9% on TopCashback too though.

workworkwork123 · 10/11/2024 22:52

fisher price pizza stand was £60 now £30 Argos

TheCrow · 10/11/2024 22:54

Thanks from me as well @LostMyRubySlippers for the elf tip. Also got two lip oils for £6 delivered, DD asked for lip oils and I didn't know they were a thing so that's a big help!

rhubarbhandsoap · 10/11/2024 22:57

@LostMyRubySlippers thanks for the elf tip! Lip oil for DD and a free one for me! 🥳

@MerylSqueak thanks for the basket clue!

Restlessinthenorth · 10/11/2024 23:07

If you have alcohol gifts to buy, worth scoring the shelves at Tescos. Over the last few weeks I've had a variety of wines that retail around the £20 mark for between £4-5 each. They aren't advertised as an offer, the label looks a little different and says reduced to clear. All just sat amongst the regular bottles. Will obviously be store dependent, but I seem to have dropped so lucky! There were some very nice champagnes going with a good discount on them also

Givealittlebit · 10/11/2024 23:07

Thank you to whoever posts the Clinique offers, got my husbands some stocking bits with a gift set and the free gift, then some samples for me!

Whyisitsodifficult · 10/11/2024 23:12

Hmm I can’t get my ELF basket to checkout. It was £15 down to £5 with reward is there a minimum?

rhubarbhandsoap · 10/11/2024 23:13

Also hairdryer for £18.99 and curling wand for £16.99

£15 was the minimum when I checked out. It took off the £10 and the free postage so I paid £5.

YorkshireFelix · 10/11/2024 23:19

Elf tip is brilliant thank you! I shop there anyway so got some makeup bits I needed to replace for myself...

If anyone has a teenage girl to buy for - but haven’t ordered from Elf as they aren’t sure if they use the makeup or skin products - then highly recommend the snow globe brush and blend set. Signing up takes it from £15 to £5 delivered which is an absolute bargain for some nice makeup brushes and sponges

Edited as accidently quoted wrong post. This is a follow on from @LostMyRubySlippers who said that signing up to the ELF app gives £10 off and free delivery (great post)
