Thread 10 - the one with a rubber dick each

Reastie · 09/11/2024 06:18

Thanks @CalliopePlantain for the title. Lord of the Rings rubber dick anyone?! Grin

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Has anyone got any ideas on how to get the falke slipper socks any cheaper? It’s pretty much the only things my DH has asked for, but I just don’t know if I can bring myself to spend £45 on socks!

It depends what size and colour, SockShop have some at £21

Edited to add - go through Quidco or TCB also

animalcrossingfan2024 · 10/11/2024 17:35

Does anyone have a spare argos code please? I am spending £150.

Oreyt · 10/11/2024 17:43

I got both dds the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Jet Set for £23. It has a body lotion, shower gel and body mist.

There are 12 and 14 and I'm thinking I've wasted my money

hugsandpugs · 10/11/2024 17:43

Late to the party but what was the olaplex deal again and can recommend any for fine hair?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 10/11/2024 17:45

Mmm so there's over 1000 products excluded from discounts/referral credits at Look Fantastic. Bit rubbish

Normallynumb · 10/11/2024 17:48

Might be worth a look if anyone needs fragrances

That’s beautiful @Oreyt

It looks better on the website. I think I zoomed in too much 🤣🤣

You haven’t wasted your money, they are so popular amongst those age ranges. I’m sure your DDs will love them

Oreyt · 10/11/2024 15:29

Not a bargain (well not expensive either).

I got this LED candle from Marks and Spencers. Dd12 has a few and they have LED's that light up once the candle is lit.

This is the London version but I'll have it displayed so you can't see Big Ben and the London Eye. I like the little houses.

I bought the glitter ones for DD12 and DD14.

I’ve bought these candles as gifts in the past and they have been well received. They have a bit more of a special feel than a regular candle

The Olaplex deal was that if you purchase anything from their website and add the code PRESENT then they add a £16 bottle of their No3 which is a pre wash conditioning treatment. It also lets you add a 20ml sample.
I bought the £11 shampoo and got the freebies. It is also free delivery.

Hopelessshopper · 10/11/2024 18:03

Does anyone know of any Hobbycraft discount vouchers? I’m going to be buying a fair amount of bits for my craft mad daughter! Thank you

MammaGnomes · 10/11/2024 18:08

Sorry about the ginormous link

@Oreyt your DDs will love those sets! And £23 is a good price. I wouldn’t worry at all.

Oreyt · 10/11/2024 18:15

@Thelifeofawife
I've tried to buy the replacement candles but I've only seen them available if you buy the jar too.

I read you can make the Yankee votives fit somehow?

The 20% off over a £40 spend has just finished, but we've just been to Hobbycraft this afternoon and they have loads of Black Friday savings on. We have the Hobbycraft app and I think it gives £5 off your first spend and then you get vouchers regularly (we'll we do anyway as we are there every week)

Oreyt · 10/11/2024 18:17

@Dolphintrainer

Yes if they weren't on offer I wouldn't have got them.

This year I've told myself I'm not buying any Victoria Secret sprays!!

Ocean59 · 10/11/2024 18:26

Thanks to all for the olaplex deals.

Raindancer411 · 10/11/2024 18:38

My DD loved it. Perfect size for a holiday and she's asked for more Bum Bum cream.

Nestnearlyempty · 10/11/2024 18:54

La Redoute have an extra 11% off quite a few items until tomorrow with the code TREAT11 and also some singles day discounts.

bumblebeedee · 10/11/2024 19:03

Hi, does anyone know of any discount for Marks & Spencer going?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/11/2024 19:06

Hi, does anyone know of any discount for Marks & Spencer going?

They only do discounts now via the Sparks app (like 20% off womenswear etc)

okayhescereal · 10/11/2024 19:09

@STom2 think it depends on how determined you are. I called up resolved to cancel no matter what they offered and it was relatively painless. My friend however has been 'trying' to cancel for 4 years and is still signed up 😂 he's had a lot of free beer in that time though whenever he tries to leave!

This makes me think of Chandler and Ross trying to quit the gym 🤣
