Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

@beetr00 @YeahWellWhyNot ooo!!! Fun! Haven't ever heard of those.

So that one is listed as a 'novelty book'. Searched Amazon for more items under that title and was rewarded with this ...(Don't click if offended easily!)

@Iggi999 thank you for the hobby craft houses, I’ve been desperate to get one for my cats 😂 but £20 seems a bit more reasonable!

Has anyone had the W7 advent and is it decent in terms of the contents?

It’s very cheap make up that most teens aren’t into now.

Skullduggeryfizz · 27/10/2024 19:11

Lands End has 40 % of everything for a limited time.
Code is BKD4

Exsqueezemeee · 27/10/2024 19:12

Helzlo @Scout2016 do you still have the Argos code? Would be ever so grateful if you do. Not even for anything exciting - both my kettle and toaster and have died at the same time! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Also, does anyone have any gift ideas for an almost 2 year old boy who alreadyhas all of his older brothers hand me downs? Lol.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy charlotte tilbury products cheaper (but the real thing). Or anywhere that does decent cashback? 4 nieces have all asked for a product.

As above for wide plate straighteners. Decent but doesn't need to be ghd

And finally did anyone find a bargainous route for White Fox which seems to be the demand of the year. Just can't believe how expensive!

@HeadOfGregor -I looked in my Sainsbury’s - no vampire mice, unfortunately.

There were discounts on the Star Wars Lego and some pink plastic houses by the till. (I forgot to look at other toys).

In TKMaxx today:

Eve Lom cleansing mousse and gel - reduced from £50 to £16.
Neom sleep oil- reduced from £39.99 to £19.99
Some Biotherm products
Fenty beauty and Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes
St Eval Xmas tea lights £5.99 and candles in tins £6.99
WoodWick candles - loads of different scents: £14.99
Loads of Korean Beauty products

In H&M:

Some lovely Xmas bedding in brushed cotton

XiCi · 27/10/2024 19:27

Dd's have asked for Adenola this year instead of White Fox. Does anyone know whether they do black Friday reductions before I splash out?

Theraffarian · 27/10/2024 19:28

thisgirlloveschristmas2024 · 27/10/2024 18:26

Does anyone know if these candles from M&S are reusable? Can a tea light be added so the holder can still be used?

Link

If you have a look on YouTube there is a video by TRICKORTREAT showing how to cut Yankee voltive candles down to make the led lights work again , or you can just pop a tea light in if you aren’t worried about the led lights as the jar is double walled. Or as mentioned m & s do refill packs .

newroundhere · 27/10/2024 19:29

No vampire mice in my Sainsbury's either 🙁

I agree. @Beautifulsunflowers Charlotte Tilbury mini sets are around £20 (or less with blue light discount) and my go to gift for that age group.

@onedayatatime73 there's a 20% off signup for new customers at White Fox.

LittleMousewithcloggson · 27/10/2024 19:45

TheCrow · 27/10/2024 16:22

White Fox just had 30% off but it's finished now, they do 20% off a first order if you sign up to their newsletter. I'm holding out for black Friday, last year they did 40% off.

Can anyone who bought a hoodie from them recently comment on the sizing? I know last year they were coming up really big, is that still the case? Their size chart says that I'd need a size L for my DD13 who wears a 12, I seem to remember people ordering XS and them still being really big! It's £6 to return so I would rather not have to send it back

My DD is size 12 and has S/M
My other DD is size 16/18 and L fits nicely

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 27/10/2024 20:03

While we are on the subject of White Fox I'd really appreciate some advice.
We're older parents to an 11 year old girl who has just started secondary. We don't have a clue what's 'in fashion' and she's autistic and struggling. We've just found out she's been bullied a bit after a recent non-uniform day (just wore leggings and a favourite tee). I want to get her a few bits for Xmas just to help her blend in a bit, she has literally no interest in fashion, won't choose clothes online or in physical shops so does just wear what's put in front of her. She also has some physical struggles meaning she's already a size 12 and hates anything tight or restrictive.
Apologies for the essay but I've been here years and you are such a kind bunch I wondered if anyone could offer advice? So far I have a pair of Nike air airforce ones which I notice every one seems to be wearing, and a Wednesday Adams tee. Would White Fox be appropriate for this age, or any other suggestions would be so appreciated.

Scout2016 · 27/10/2024 20:10

@Exsqueezemeee yes I do. Will PM you!

Georgieporgie29 · 27/10/2024 20:14

@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile yes white fox would be perfect for this age group. Also converse are a big hit, the platform boots - think they’re called Eva. Also my DD is 13 and loves her Uniqlo bag.

On a side note, I am so so sorry your dd was bullied on non uniform day, that is absolutely awful, kids can be so horrible.

@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile I think what you've bought is fine so far. My dd's is a bit older than yours and she wears a mix of her favourite artist merch, Taylor Swift, and adidas/Nike goodies etc. Plus mixed in with items from H&M and New look. She's also got a pair of Adidas campus trainers.

Edited to say you should speak to the school regarding the bullying over clothes. That's not acceptable.

hby9628 · 27/10/2024 20:18

@Entertherubicon my 13yo has some gymshark jumpers (plain jumpers just with the little logo in the middle) & leggings. I got them in a Black Friday offer for her. The leggings in particular are really soft & comfortable.

Other than that she likes Nike, again I picked up some bits when there was a sale. Primark is also a shop she chooses, just the plain zip hoodies & also the fluffy leggings.
Sorry your DD is being bullied. Kids can be harsh sometimes. Hope you can get it sorted.

Some great suggestions from others - also Hollister is popular with mine.

MaybeItsJustTimeToStop · 27/10/2024 20:21

@Scout2016 TKmaxx had loads of snow globes in store the other day, real variety of things in them some were really lovely.

Yeknom · 27/10/2024 20:22

@IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile I have zero advice on recommendations but your post really knocked my heart. I feel so sorry for your daughter that she was bullied over clothes, kids can be so cruel. You sound like such a lovely parent xx

Thank you! This was my first thought as I have never heard my DD mention the brand - she’s into all the usual (more expensive!) brands. I’ll stick to my plan of making her a DIY beauty advent.
