Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Really sorry everyone, including @Addictedtobeauty and @Dormouse1940 who are assisting with snow globe and hatchimal search, I unhelpfully omitted that I don't shop with Amazon. I am trying to work out how to edit my post... Will look at other suggestions. Thank you.

Etsy for a snow globe? Depends on budget...

Would appreciate an Argos code for a £60 spend if anyone has one that they aren’t going to use please?

Rainraingoaway21 · 27/10/2024 16:54

@TheCrow yes their sizing is very big. I can't imagine your dd13 would be a large. My 16 year old is an xs - she is about 5ft 6in and size 8 normally if thats a guide. You really don't want to be returning it, takes ages apparantly and can only exchange, no refunds. Mind you I think there is UK dispatch now so that may have changed.

Can anyone recommend any good football socks with grips please? 🙏 Certainly leaning towards gain the edge ones.

DS plays rugby and rates gain the edge. Most of the team wear them. I think we got either 4 or 6 pairs for £25.

CinnamonCoffee · 27/10/2024 17:12

Did someone mention there was an offer on Red bubble please? Want to get some T-shirts for DS

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 27/10/2024 17:13

@CinnamonCoffee it's 25% off sitewide no code needed. But i have found the postage very steep at the moment so negates the 'saving'

CinnamonCoffee · 27/10/2024 17:24

Ah right. Maybe I'll stick with emp! Thank you though

Chocolatecakewithsprinkles · 27/10/2024 17:27

Thanks @Myattention definitely going with those.

Summerdew · 27/10/2024 17:34

@TheCrow we’ve just had two hoodies delivered in an xxs/xs. One is much bigger than the other so whilst I agree that they do run big, as a size 12 I’d find one fits nicely compared to the massive oversize fit of the other so read the descriptions if you’re looking at them (the huge one says oversized fit).

Just got all the pressies out and had a little sort so they're grouped by person and I'm so pleased with them all. This thread has been the best!!

Only have 2 boys left to buy for. One will turn 6 in January, the other is 3. Getting the older one a smart game (thanks to the person who suggested that!) for his birthday so just Christmas to go.

These boys have EVERYTHING. I can't even tell you. A bursting playroom, an entire craft area, books galore, a garage and shed full of outdoor kit. I could do a day out or something, but I feel like when you're 6/3 you want something to open rather than an 'iou a day at the park with ice cream'. The 6 year old is quite a studious, quiet chap. Will sit and concentrate on things, enjoys reading. His brother is an absolute tear around. So much energy!!! They already have a bunch of memberships to places as well, plus those are usually outside of my £10-15 budget.

Any ideas?!

Some ideas:

fahlo bracelets for their favourite animals

Go find it scavenger hunt game

niche instruments? Vibraslap, Cabasa etc?

bird calls (can get loads of different ones like duck, owl etc) Or this Bird watching kit

If any of them are into makeup the W7 advent calendar. Or if they're the caring sort, those Fahlo bracelets which have been mentioned on this thread before.

Edited

Has anyone had the W7 advent and is it decent in terms of the contents?

I ordered my cuisinart blender on Monday and heard nothing since, did people say they were coming v quickly?

My parents ordered one for me last week and I got it on Thursday.

okayhescereal · 27/10/2024 18:24

Thanks for the replies all!

I went with the discount colour in house from Hobbycraft someone mentioned (they had a pirate ship!) and a bathtime science kit (on my boots offers today).

I am DONE! From here on out I'm just planning ahead for birthday presents 😍woohoo.

imnottoofussed · 27/10/2024 18:34

I don't think it will light up after use as it's the wick that causes it to light I believe.

I noticed when I was in yesterday they do one with a refill

For the love of Julie don't buy them an instrument, or probably a bird call too, unless you secretly hate their parents. I assume my sister in law hates me after she gifted a bloody harmonica!

Julie 😂😂😂 I'm very pro instruments in my house, but I wouldn't buy them for anyone else because I imagine a fair few feel like you!!

Busy Books are brilliant. I got a second hand princess one for DD1 a few years ago when she was about 3 - both DDs still play with them all the time. They come on holiday, out for dinner, they're used in the bath, a good 4 years later.

We had so many! I used them as cake toppers too for birthdays, then they had an extra gift!

Or I would wrap the busy book up with the storybook and dvd (before streaming services were such a big thing!) Sometimes I would add a cuddly toy or clothing item and put in a big box!

So highly recommend my busy books for ages 3-9! I even bought one to decorate dd1 16th birthday cake with! A nightmare before christmas one for £6 off amazon!

I wouldn't mind if my kids had the desire and commitment to actually learn how to play one. Instead it just gets used to drive me up the wall, usually at 6am or when I'm driving the car, all the best times to make a racket 😬

Oh yeah fair enough. I have strict rules that they're only allowed in their bedroom and after 8am 😂 there are no budding Mozart's in my house.
