Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Aldi special buy today includes running lights (as in lights to wear when running /walking) £6.99 Not tried them myself but seen a few "remember Aldi's selling them soon" type mentions in running groups, which make me think they should be OK.

Addictedtobeauty · 27/10/2024 14:52

From a quick Google, @Scout2016 the Entertainer sell Hatchimals and Amazon have a dragon snow globe.

Busy Books are brilliant. I got a second hand princess one for DD1 a few years ago when she was about 3 - both DDs still play with them all the time. They come on holiday, out for dinner, they're used in the bath, a good 4 years later.

Just got all the pressies out and had a little sort so they're grouped by person and I'm so pleased with them all. This thread has been the best!!

Only have 2 boys left to buy for. One will turn 6 in January, the other is 3. Getting the older one a smart game (thanks to the person who suggested that!) for his birthday so just Christmas to go.

These boys have EVERYTHING. I can't even tell you. A bursting playroom, an entire craft area, books galore, a garage and shed full of outdoor kit. I could do a day out or something, but I feel like when you're 6/3 you want something to open rather than an 'iou a day at the park with ice cream'. The 6 year old is quite a studious, quiet chap. Will sit and concentrate on things, enjoys reading. His brother is an absolute tear around. So much energy!!! They already have a bunch of memberships to places as well, plus those are usually outside of my £10-15 budget.

Any ideas?!

maybe storybook torch for the younger one:

plasticine has been very popular with all my kids when they were 6, plasticine movie maker studio lets them make stop motion animation using the set- it’s £11.99 on Amazon

Has anyone seen a good price on DKNY Be Delicious green apple anywhere please?

VolcanicProtectorMan · 27/10/2024 15:43

Is Smyths likely to do another ‘spend x, save y’ event again does anyone know? I didn’t have any money last time they had it on and there are a couple of things I’m after that only they sell. Typically now I’ve been paid there are no savings to be had there!
I really need to save throughout the year next time

I have a £7 off £70 argos spend if anyone could use it? Ends 3rd November.

Also 20% SugarHill Brighton use end of Wednesday.

Brakeburn have a decent sale on. I've had a couple of nice things from there previously.

In case anyone forgets, it's worth checking the Blue Light Card app for money off theatre tickets.

I have a help request please - are Hatchimals still a thing? DD is after one but they don't seem to be on sale anymore.

She's also asked for a snow globe with interesting stuff in like dragons or a pheonix. Not (easy to find) stuff like a snowman.

Sorry I can't link atm, but there's a quite a few dragon glitter/snow globes on amazon.
Also worth a look on ebay/etsy. Just to reassure you that apparently she's not the only one wanting such things! :)

Lidlisthebusiness · 27/10/2024 16:00

My hot chocolate crazy son just spotted the Salter Chocolatier in Tesco. I've found it cheaper online, but just wondered if anyone has it and can let me know if it's any good? I don't want to spend as much as the HC Velvetiser as he's only 11, but this might be a great alternative.

If they really have EVERYTHING, I would go for PJs in a character they like and get them matching because that's a novelty! Won't get a WOW when they open but they will likely get lots of use and like it when the madness has calmed down! Smile

Moana123 · 27/10/2024 16:05

@TimPat can you link to the PLouise lip kits please? Thanks

ignore me I’ve found it - wasn’t reading it properly…

Scout2016 · 27/10/2024 16:10

Really sorry everyone, including @Addictedtobeauty and @Dormouse1940 who are assisting with snow globe and hatchimal search, I unhelpfully omitted that I don't shop with Amazon. I am trying to work out how to edit my post... Will look at other suggestions. Thank you.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy charlotte tilbury products cheaper (but the real thing). Or anywhere that does decent cashback? 4 nieces have all asked for a product.

As above for wide plate straighteners. Decent but doesn't need to be ghd

And finally did anyone find a bargainous route for White Fox which seems to be the demand of the year. Just can't believe how expensive!

White Fox just had 30% off but it's finished now, they do 20% off a first order if you sign up to their newsletter. I'm holding out for black Friday, last year they did 40% off.

Can anyone who bought a hoodie from them recently comment on the sizing? I know last year they were coming up really big, is that still the case? Their size chart says that I'd need a size L for my DD13 who wears a 12, I seem to remember people ordering XS and them still being really big! It's £6 to return so I would rather not have to send it back

FizzyOranges · 27/10/2024 16:22

I can't remember who mentioned plasticine but can anyone tell me how (if at all) it differs from play doh please?

IggyAce · 27/10/2024 16:23

@Scout2016 tkmaxx often have snowglobes.

Chocolateteabag · 27/10/2024 16:32

@Beautifulsunflowers notebooks Papierr* do beautiful notebooks that can be personalised. They did have a referral offer last year - can't immediately see if that is still active - might be an idea for all 3 nieces?

Chocolateteabag · 27/10/2024 16:33

notebooks
Not sure if that link worked?

TimPat · 27/10/2024 16:34

@Moana123 no worries glad you found them. They don't look anything great to me but highly in demand from my nieces!

Chocolateteabag · 27/10/2024 16:35

Oh god! I have been able to do links for ages
