Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

If you happen to be in Asda buying the cheap chocs it’s worth checking the sale clothing . I picked up a dress with 75% off , which is still only 50% off online . Quite a lot of women’s in my local although oddly no men’s stuff .

Beingacatbed · 26/10/2024 20:27

Does anyone know of any codes for adidas? My daughter wants some navy and cream spezial and they are the only place with them in stick but at £90 full price its a bit much so would be very grateful if anyone had one.

just back from Sainsbury's and couldn't see any vampire mice, sorry 😔

Doublebubblegum · 26/10/2024 15:17

I got my son this a couple of years back. Think I paid £25 on black Friday or another offer day. It's really good - it actually made proper crystals and comes with a light up display thing too.

Amazing, thank you!

Goodness, those are lovely. I had a look at the full range and have ordered the birds one for my brother.

If anyone has younger kids and is looking for a bargain they have

Dinosaurs for £4.99

Space for £4.69

EDIT lost the quote but was responding to @Stelmosfire1 about the Paperscape books

SnowJamz · 26/10/2024 21:03

@Stelmosfire1 and @IggyAce you Superstars! That’s the one. Amazed you found it with my terrible description. Thanks so much 😃

Qwerty21 · 26/10/2024 21:09

I don't understand those paperscape books. It says it transforms into a work of art but I can't see how? It looks like it just has a flat cut out picture on the top of each page? Is that what it means? It doesn't actually produce anything separate to display or anything?

Shakey2022 · 26/10/2024 21:28

@DirtyDensDog how did you get the Asda voucher to work online? For the 2 x tubs for £5?

Pinkkisugarmouse · 26/10/2024 21:28

Has anyone seen a good digital photo frame under £50? Preferably under £40.

Babynumberthreeee · 26/10/2024 21:33

Im so behind with this thread with half term and going on holiday 😆 🤣

Missed the vertuo machine I do not need and kinetic sand that I do need 😭

We have a vertuo and I bought this as I'm far too cheap to pay over 50p a capsule!

Can anyone recommend a British wildlife/bird book? For my notoriously difficult dad.

If your dad is into proper naturalist books you'll
find something suitable here British Wildlife. A subscription to the journal would be a fab gift for anyone into nature.

ApiratesaysYarrr · 26/10/2024 21:49

Does anyone have any good suggestions for an art supplies calendar for a young adult who is at sort of A level Art standard?

I found a nice Etsy one but it's sold out and I haven't found anything similar - a lot of the "art supplies" ones tend to have little twee stickers or pompoms in, and I'm looking for something a bit more "arty" and a bit less "crafty" IYSWIM.

TimPat · 26/10/2024 21:54

Marc Jacobs Dot 50ml eau de parfum £32 on secret sales comes down to £27 with code BEAUTY15.

Okay it's happened, my system has collapsed. Been buying and stashing presents around the house. This morning I thought I'd give DH an early gift (actually intended for his birthday next week but would have been really handy this morning!!) and I can't find it ANYWHERE 😂😅 Have genuinely turned the house upside down.

Am obviously a complete novice to this being organised lark. Where in earth could it have gone?!

I do this every year it's now a running joke! I have never found some things x

weareallqueens · 26/10/2024 22:04

Our closest Asda had no chocs and no Ariel tabs. Still spent £20 there that I'd normally have spent in another supermarket though, so you win, Asda.

But where have they gone?! What a mystery!!!

My in laws bought a gift for DH 5 years ago and it still hasn't showed up. Some of the jokes about when we'll find it turned quite dark....

Update though, I found it 😁 and some other stuff !! Been a productive day for finding.

Rubyroo73 · 26/10/2024 22:15

@Doublebubblegum have a look at the Klutz craft books on Amazon or elsewhere. Lots to choose from but all come with everything you need to create some really lovely things. I’ve bought loads over the years and each one has been great.

At that level I'd honestly DIY if you have the time. Wrap the items in coloured tissue, add a number label, etc. and stick it in a pretty cloth sack or a wooden/card box (found at The Works).
Ideas of individual day items: a Sakura Pigma Micron pen (you could do a different nib for a few different days), kneadable eraser, fine cutting knife with refill blades, washi tapes (plain is fine, more used for clean margins on artwork/painting effects), etc.

hby9628 · 26/10/2024 22:21

@Babynumberthreeee genius! I'll order one of those capsule adapters thanks

4inthishouse · 26/10/2024 22:27

Hi I’m looking at the Percy pig bottle bakes and I can’t get them on marks website (ROI) does anyone know r they only available in UK?

Yalz · 26/10/2024 22:30

Thank you to the kind posters who were so encouraging to me earlier. After a (boring) day without Mumsnet I am back.

Kudd.ly has sent me VIP access to their Black Friday sale. It includes hooded blankets for £29 (from £89), or a family pack of 4 for £69 (£17.25 each - you can choose the designs), star hooded blankets at 2 for £29 (£14.50 each), heated blankets, weighted blankets and heated slippers.

I have never bought anything directly from this website. However, I bought two navy hooded blankets from the fivepoundshop a couple of years ago. One had Oodie label and the other a kudd.ly one, and there's very little difference between them that I can see. Both keep me very warm.

beetr00 · 26/10/2024 22:40

@Pinkkisugarmouse not quite, but this is £55 (with 20% off voucher)

May be better prices on Black Friday?

Oh sad to have missed the kinetic sand, sounds like a perfect stocking filler!
