Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

Ah okay I didn't realise that! I've just had a quick look. Cost seems similar to Tassimo but still better flavour options. Will be fine. Hoping that the first 80 pods will see me through a few months!

You can also get reusable capsule sealers for Vertuo and fill the used capsule it with normal ground coffee. I am quite happy with our reusable Nespresso pod, so I expect the one for Vertuo will be good as well. HTH

Thank you! I was about to cancel mine because of not realising about the pods. Will give it a try.

cashback on gift cards

A quick reminder (as I forget this myself!) if you're on TopCashback you can get cashback on gift cards for specific brands. Some are online use or in-store only, but you can see that on the page before buying. Quite a range of brands now and if you can use the giftcard to buy on line and go through TCB to the retailer you can double up on the cashback too.

Link below or search TopGiftCards when logged in. https://www.topcashback.co.uk/top-gift-cards/

There's 40% off at Land's End until Monday with code BKD6.

The men's flannel shirts are lovely Christmas presents!

Hi,

The Oodie are doing their BF sign up to get an Oodie for £1 promotion again this year. (It was a worldwide promotion last time and it was virtually impossible to win but may be a bit of fun).

They also have Oodies from £35 on their early access to BF offers:

@TheWeeDonkeyFella thank you for this. I guess you just get an e-gift card if you purchase through TCB?

We got our turkey crown from Farmison last year and it was lovely. We went for one that had been suveed (think that’s how it’s spelt) so it didn’t take long to cook.

They’re meat is good quality and they often do codes and reduced prices

That's interesting. I assume you mean sous vide? I have a sous vide machine at home but not a container big enough to cook a turkey so good to know you can buy them pre done, will have to take a look at these.

Sous vide basically means under vacuum. The meat is vac packed and cooked in a water bath at a precise temperature. You can cook low and slow this way and makes for really succulent meat.

Try the code at checkout it should come down. Fingers crossed

I put the code in. It started as £69 and when I added the code at checkout it went to £59

How did others manage to get it to work?

I always buy teen son a load of Lynx (small crate) for Christmas.

I have just bought him a Lynx advent calendar from Amazon, £45 reduced from £60, short term deal. I think he will really like it and also be amused. It has a multi-charger, towel, socks etc as some of the other gifts, and I think he will use it all.

They also have a Nivea for men advent calendar, similar reduction, £32ish from £50. I also but him that for shaving stuff, but Lynx is funnier in my opinion

OnionBag · 26/10/2024 11:43

That Hotel chocolat code doesn’t work on the velvetiser, would anyone know of any velvetiser bargains? TIA 😊

IlovePond · 26/10/2024 11:43

Hi, just to say - I know a lot of people really like the Aldi skincare dupes but they can be hard to find. If you are near Thirsk, the Aldi there not only had loads of Drunk Elephant moisturisers and SRiley serum dupes the other day, but they were reduced as not shifting.

They are in the SpecialBuys aisle.

I don't suppose anyone has a spare argos voucher do they please? Son's bed has just broken, including the mattress, so looking at unplanned £200 spend from argos. Thank you!

check your pms, sending a £6 off one if that helps x

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 26/10/2024 11:59

@OnionBag if you sign up to Hotel Chocolat's free VIP clup it makes the velvetiser 69.99 but there are a lot of dupes about that all do the same so someone else might have recommendations

Lolandwoody · 26/10/2024 12:10

Any recommendations to get a PS5 controller at a good price please?

okayhescereal · 26/10/2024 12:26

Okay it's happened, my system has collapsed. Been buying and stashing presents around the house. This morning I thought I'd give DH an early gift (actually intended for his birthday next week but would have been really handy this morning!!) and I can't find it ANYWHERE 😂😅 Have genuinely turned the house upside down.

Am obviously a complete novice to this being organised lark. Where in earth could it have gone?!

On the previous thread someone was asking about jelly belly beans.
In Costco yesterday they had 1.4kg tubs for £9.58 (7.99 plus VAT)
Their gammon joints were also on offer with £7 off each joint so I now have one in the freezer for boxing day.

StrawberryThief1930 · 26/10/2024 12:47

@okayhescereal i feel your pain. I still haven't found the Crimpit i bought last year for DH stocking. Maybe it will turn up this year?

how big is the item you lost?
