Sorry - I panicked with the title Blush

Greetings and welcome one and all to a friendly and joyful corner of mn - the Christmas bargain thread. Here, we share Christmas present purchases, ideas, links and discount codes, with the aim to spread the Christmas magic and joy and reduce the financial stress.

It's a very busy thread, so see the tips below for helping everything run smoothly and avoiding repetitions of Cookiegate etc al. It's a lovely, friendly bunch and I'm so grateful to each and every one of you for building such a warm, fuzzy and generous spot on mn. I know I've save so much over the years and am so grateful to all of you for sharing.

Pull up a sleigh and relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, for Christmas has nearly arrived!

@ me if you need anything or you want to let me know anything - the thread moves so fast I can't always keep up so this really helps

A few pointers to make everyone’s life easier and the thread be as useful as possible:

  • It’s handy to put in bold the bargains so they’re easy to spot
  • No affiliate links
  • No need to place mark or post messages of hello or thanks at the start of a new thread - use the ‘watch thread’ button
  • Be nice or leave

The current referral thread for sharing referral codes https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4940918-4940918-bargain-referrals-thread-6 . Please use this rather than this page to share referral links to make the sharing fair.

To make clicks links, you set it up like this only without any spaces apart from between the website and the word(s) you’re writing: www.bargainsahoyeveryonecomehere.co.uk

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for the instructions below.
To make something bold, put this star * either side of the word you want to bold (with no spaces in between)

So starhellostar would look like this.

hello

Obviously use the * not the word star

Some of the below is copied and pasted from previous years, so do @ me if the links don't work

The 2022 64GB iPad is its lowest ever price on Amazon (£209-ish). Very are price matching, plus TREAT30 brings it down to just under £280, which I'm happy with!

Edited

Many thanks for this , my old one is limping along , so I was holding out for Black Friday , but at this price I’ve ordered now .

Chocolateteabag · 26/10/2024 07:56

@OohShakiraShakira - try Vinted for original Stussy? It's still pricy for some box fresh stuff
But surely 2-3 "original 90's" bits is better than 1 shop bought?

lots of tops from £10-12 upwards??*

Here you go: https://www.very.co.uk/apple-ipad-10th-gen-2022-64gb-wi-fi-109-inchnbsp--silver/1600801920.prd

ETA: beaten to it by @beetr00! You have to hunt for the promo code box...it's under the button you hit to order!

Edited

I was off looking but can't find the promo box. It also wants me to create an account with them before I can get past the first basket (where I can't see a promo box).

Filterphobia · 26/10/2024 08:05

@NoWordForFluffy thanks for the iPad deal. That’s the main present for one DS sorted, his iPad is on its last legs. I had budgeted £329 so this is a great saving!

@Wigglewoowoo the code TREAT30 adds £30 credit to your account so it would only work if you set up an account and pay with Very. Otherwise you could pay the full amount and then have £30 credit to spend on something else I guess.

GoodIsGoodEnough · 26/10/2024 08:11

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz I can't get a referral code either, it's just takes me back to the reward page! Very annoying.

Looks like the offer is for the Christmas cards, not others 🎄

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/10/2024 08:15

Hi Midnight - think it's just Christmas on that deal, think the other deal is running alongside too?

So was I, but I doubt it'll be much lower than that. If at all.

Ahh thank you, makes sense. Just wondering if I go for this one. I know DC is aiming to use for uni so was thinking iPad air. Off to look at specs and weigh up black Friday and BLC discounts 😵‍💫

I wonder if there's a glitch with their rewards as this was happening when I tried retrieving my code.

Ahhh, still pretty good with the multi buys and 20% if you sign up.

redjoker · 26/10/2024 08:25

It took me ages to get the whistlefish refer code to load. Think they are having issues. Mines on the board if you want it Flowers

Not sure if it's finished, but Very had 10% account credit on a couple of Airs this week.

I make a hamper for my little boy’s nursery every year with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits etc. I’ve been on the lookout for a good pack of wrapped biscuits and just saw this box of 69 Kit Kats etc was reduced to £13:99 as a limited deal, but I ordered 4 things so saved an extra 5% and then added to subscribe and save so saved an extra 10% on that-will cancel as soon as it arrives on Monday. So it brought it down to £11:96 which I think is a great deal and will go down well in the staff room I’m sure. Thought I’d share in case anyone else is putting together a staff room type gift

My teen son is asking for Stussy clothing - jeans and a hoodie. I remember stussy from the 90s but apparently it's back 'in'.

I've been googling and it's really expensive! Does anyone know where I can find it cheaper?

It is expensive isn’t it! To add complication there’s alot of takes around. I’m hoping something might crop up for black friday

okayhescereal · 26/10/2024 09:11

Thanks @LDB1985 totally running with that idea baton for DD's preschool staff!!

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/10/2024 09:17

So I'll try that again -

Whistlefish Christmas cards 15 for £10 this weekend. Free delivery on £25+.

if you sign up for emails you get 20% off buy basket still needs to total after discounts for free delivery.

Really good quality cards with designs by UK artists and sustainably manufactured in the uk

Disclaimer - it's been glitchy but has worked for some posters ... if you hunt on Baird you may find a referral code if you're a new customer which gives you £5 off too. I didn't lead with this as when I did in my previous post the referrals weren't working and some posters were understandably disappointed. I know I'm not able to retrieve my code to share at the moment.
So yea - it's an additional bonus if it works Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 25/10/2024 22:15

I got 30% off by filling my basket and abandoning it after signing up for emails.

We got our turkey crown from Farmison last year and it was lovely. We went for one that had been suveed (think that’s how it’s spelt) so it didn’t take long to cook.

They’re meat is good quality and they often do codes and reduced prices

taggy321 · 26/10/2024 09:18

My Nespresso has been dispatched!

hby9628 · 26/10/2024 09:22

Oh taggy that's exciting. Mines being prepared 🤞 I already have a Tassimo but the nespresso looks like it has more flavours & the pods are cheaper so I'll install the Tassimo at work instead

Yes, Im thinking the same re black Friday. I think it will still end up being expensive but he's not asked for anything else.

I buy my kids alot of 2nd hand, but for Christmas or birthday gifts I prefer things to be new.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 26/10/2024 09:29

@hby9628 just be careful this nespresso machine only takes the nespresso vertuo pods not just normal nespresso. Not sure how they work out cost wise compared to tassimo but there aren't any compatible pods for vertuo.

Fingers crossed everyone gets their nespresso machines.

Trainstrike · 26/10/2024 09:50

We have a Vertuo machine and agree it's expensive because there are no other compatible pods. It may not necessarily be good as a gift as you're basically trying someone else into paying one price. My husband basically just buys the pods as a treat these days! I think the cheapest ones work out as 65p each, whereas the non Vertuo one used to have compatible knock off pods for about 20p each!

You have to order them from their website! Which can be very annoying when you suddenly realise you are out of coffee, but they used to do a subscription service which was reasonable - I bought my husband one a couple of years ago and I think it worked out about 50p a coffee at home as opposed to £3 a coffee on his commute so was a saving for us, but it depends how much you spend on coffee!
