Ocado Christmas delivery

Have any of you had your Ocado Christmas delivery yet? Did you find out earlier than usual if anything was out of stock/being subbed?

Stupidly booked the 12-1pm slot on Christmas Eve, felt so cocky about it and now feeling like I'm going to have a frantic race around the supermarket getting the failed bits...

Mine is coming this morning and it’s nine subs and one missing item. Means I can’t cook what I wanted tonight and Christmas Eve and I have no stuffing. I’ve never had this many subs before, usually it’s very good. I can’t face the shops so it will be a vastly overpriced Deliveroo order to make up the shortfall!

Mine is due any minute. 1 missing item (ice cream) and 3 reasonable subs. Looks like I got away lightly

Mine is arriving later today, yay I have cauliflower cheese but the fancy nibbles are mostly missing. Luckily I bought some on last Saturdays order and froze them. Another grandson told me he was coming for Christmas lunch this week and the amount of food the grandsons put away I'm very happy I did.

I'm not overly impressed with the stock levels of Christmas food, loads of food was out of stock from early December.

Mind you it beats visiting a supermarket.

I was hoping that as last night was the final Christmas order they will have received, so by midnight would have known all orders and what stock they have left, that they may let customers know today if they are going to get their full order or not.

Fortunately we're walking distance to a Sainsbury's so if necessary I'll have to pop there! Fingers crossed that our reliable Ocado continues to be reliable...

Mine came 8:30 on the dot. Driver was very happy with how his day was going. 3 substitutions - one of which was my veggie main for Christmas Day. It had been showing no more stock for weeks. I think it should have been removed from the basket. The tragedy though was smashing a bottle of wine - they are mostly loose now. But clearing up all morning !

For reasons that I can't remember (I possibly missed all the Xmas slots), I booked my Ocado delivery for last Tuesday.

We'd been away until Monday night so we needed a food delivery anyway.

Aside from a Daylesford Flash Sale pouch of ragu, everything is dated after Christmas. I did wonder whether we might have to have Xmas lunch for dinner tonight!

I just had a litre of milk subbed.

Mine's coming today. I don't have a kitchen this year so I pre-ordered dinner from M&S to take to my son's and cook there. The Ocado is the stuff that isn't actually dinner.

The email says:

Just grateful the double cream, clotted cream and custard are coming.

Finally got my receipt. 7 substitutions and 1 missing item. 😩 Some of the subs are OK (different type of bin bags, different size of the same Heinz sauce etc.) but others are not at all what I ordered (chicken party food item is arriving instead of the beef one ordered etc.). Missing the brown butter mince pies that have been in my order since I first placed it (whenever the slots first became available).

As far as I remember this is the worst yet and I've used Ocado for Christmas for over 10 years.

I’ve done the same thing OP! What’s worse is I’m going out straight after it comes.

I think this is the last year I’m doing it. In hindsight £10 delivery is ridiculous.

My delivery was perfect. The only sub was one type of Prosecco for another, everything else there as ordered, and it was a massive order.

We got ours yesterday. One item of party food missing (no sub offered) but it doesn't matter.

No lemons but I'll pop to the corner shop

No Florentines...subbed for different biscuits which is fine

A trifle arrived upside down so is a mess and the same with a layered dip. Annoying as wantednthen for a buffet today, will still we've them but they look awful. Have asked for a refund on those!

Just got my receipt confirming order. 5 substitutions but all sensible e.g. change of brand for butter, wholemeal bread, easy peelers, chocolate biscuits and Brie.

8 substitutions and one missing item here. Most of them not suitable (either half the amount required eg. Cream or just wrong) so a trip to Sainsbury’s is required. This seems to be a downhill trend so won't bother with Ocado next year. South London/Surrey if that makes a difference!

Email 4 hours prior to delivery. 1 brand substitution and 2 non-essential out of stock items not subbed.
Driver turned up over an hour early with no warning, previously we've been messaged if they're running very early. Didn't use the doorbell but bashed on the door madly like the Amazon couriers do here. Pretty much flung the food through the door onto the floor - which is probably why after he'd gone we found a full bag ruined by a broken tub of cream. Cream on the door mat and all over the floor so cleaning that up was fun. We rejected the substition and he was rude about that, saying " what I am supposed to do about that, it could be anywhere in these bags, I'm not waiting while you find it, you'll have to take it" We insisted on rejecting and found it while he stood there grumbling at us.

Rudest supermarket delivery driver we've ever had. Not sure if they're employing temps or if he was stressed because of the Christmas rush but he was over an hour early which doesn't sound under pressure? Not sure I'll bother with them next year, we have to go to the shops to replaced the ruined items and I've no idea if I'll get my refund which is most of a bag, we cleaned what we could but it wasn't all salvageable.

None of the missing is vital except the pumpkin.

Substituted Daylesford organic pie for 8 people with two tiny M&S ones.
We will return substitution .

The pumpkin is annoying as it's the main course for vegetarian dd1.
I have got a butternut squash from the local shop but the recipe is pumpkin filled with leek,cheese sauce,breadcrumbs and nuts so maybe lacking filling space !

Mine came this morning. No subs but lemons and large orange missing .

Fuming! 19 missing items and only 9 poorly subbed.
No stuffing, no bread, no butter- no subs for these.
Ocado have just got worse over the years. They used to be better than the competition but that's no longer true.

I had an exceptionally rude driver too. He stopped the van in the middle of my road even though there was plenty of space to park, so basically blocking everyone else's way. Pretty much threw the bags into my hallway and wasn't happy I was returning two substitutions. On unpacking I found one of the M&S party food items looking a mess with the toppings all over the box, so have asked for a further refund on that. Driver also didn't apologise for the subs as they usually do and definitely didn't wish me a merry Christmas - I don't mind but do remember in previous years they have been extra polite at Christmas and actually seemed happy to deliver.

Just been to the local M&S to pick up a few things in place of the missing items. Got two of the things that were out of stock from Ocado. M&S locally not been great at stock planning either - probably a 100 packs of mini chicken kievs on the shelves and gaps where other party foods would be, and all types of stuffing yellow stickered with lots left. And about a thousand jars of turkey flavoured mayo left. 😂

Luckily we just have party type food at Xmas so easily replaced. I’ve just been to the local shop and got back ups of many things, and have a plan b in my head. Def not doing this next year ! There’s an M&S food near me just opened so next year I’m going there early and just going to fill the freezer. My issue has also been I’ve drunk all the Prosecco already so just had to go and get more as can’t risk that not arriving ! What’s the betting I get a full shop now !

I have calmed down as Ocado phoned, apologised and put on an extra shop tomorrow to add some of the missing items. Here's hoping my 2nd Christmas shop doesn't have subs.

Mine has just been delivered, I was missing lemons, butter, lemonade pate & trifle sponges, plus my tzatziki had burst all over a full bag of shopping.

I'm not thrilled. 5 substitutions - none really appropriate, and 4 cancellations (including butter - surely they had some butter they could have included?). Will need to go to the shop tomorrow which I was hoping to avoid. I think I'll try Waitrose next year - I'm annoyed because all these things have been in my trolley for weeks - it's not like they didn't know I'd ordered them!

I genuinely couldn’t say if I’ve ever had a driver wish me merry Xmas, it wouldn’t even occur to me they should, or stick in my mind, and I don’t think I’ve ever had one apologise for the subs, generally it’s are you aware of the subs, as they go to look tk tell me, and I say yes, no probs, fine. To be honest I feel that it’s a little petty to complain you didn’t get a personal apology and a merry Christmas.

For the first time in about 10 years of having an Ocado Christmas delivery, I'm actually really disappointed with the missing items (4) and subs (5). All the subs going back and heading out to the local shop now for the missing bits I need- jersey milk, Brie & dips!
