I'm trying to decide between Sunday 26th and Saturday 2nd....

12 days before and it comes down 12 days after xmas. My daughter.. usually after guy fawkes 🤣

CrunchyCarrot · 29/10/2023 11:01

Not at all this year. Got a young cat but more importantly renovations happening so too much stuff is being shifted and there's literally no space for it.

BitofaStramash · 29/10/2023 11:02

Probably weekend of 14th December

It's been such a shit year for basically everyone I know, I got excited when I saw Christmas lights on at a house yesterday. It might be Halloween decorations, but Im thinking of the 26th at the latest now.

In 2020 half the people on my street (including myself) had decorations and loads of outdoor lights up by mid November, and most of the rest were up by the first weekend in December!

This year I aim to have everything up and on 1-3 December.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 29/10/2023 11:12

14th December

PNDshame · 29/10/2023 11:12

We put ours up on the day of the Christmas parade in our city. So this year it's nov 19th (artificial tree). Can't wait!

cocksstrideintheevening · 29/10/2023 11:16

Decorations on the 1st, undecided on trees yet - if it's a real one the tree won't go up until a couple of weeks before, if I stick with the fake it will go up on the 1st too.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/10/2023 11:16

Second week of December. No earlier

karenm51 · 29/10/2023 11:20

I normally put it up on the last Saturday in November, but we are having a new sofa delivered around that time (fingers crossed!) so I will probably wait till that’s in as we have a really small living room. If the sofa is delayed though, then tough - it’s going up!

Burnoutwhat · 29/10/2023 11:21

We have a real tree so it will be a week or week and a half before Christmas. I'll do the rest of the house in early December. We take ours down on 12th night too.

LlynTegid · 29/10/2023 11:21

December 1st.

YuletideSolace · 29/10/2023 11:23

We usually get our tree around the 10th. I like to keep it up 'til 12th Night (at least!).

Can't wait - I need the Christmas hygge this year as it's been at utterly grim year (only weather wise, thankfully).

AnniaAurelia · 29/10/2023 11:27

3rd December here, always the first Sunday in advent for me.

Openmouthinsertfood · 29/10/2023 11:32

It's already up. Blush In my defence, I needed to put it up...bare with me...I have a very small flat and I've almost finished Xmas shopping and have no where to store the gifts. They were just taking up space in my living room. So I put my tree up so I could wrap the gifts and put them under the tree. It's worked and I have some space back.

rowanrome · 29/10/2023 12:06

Christmas Eve after Christingle service.

flumposie · 29/10/2023 12:14

First weekend in December. Dreading how our 11 month old curtain climbing kitten will react 🐈‍⬛🤣

CoodleMoodle · 29/10/2023 12:18

I'll put it together and do the lights and tinsel on the 1st while the DC are at school, then when they get home they can put the decorations on it. We also have a small tree on the table and they can do whatever they want with that.

Parker231 · 29/10/2023 12:19

Up the 16 December ( if we buy it then) and taken down and everything cleaned up on 30 December.

BrimfulOfMash · 29/10/2023 12:20

Not before mid December.

bakewellbride · 29/10/2023 12:20

Mid December

floatingnoodle · 29/10/2023 12:21

We usually put ours up on the first weekend of December but we’ll be away this year so probably the 10th. Only the advent wreath goes up in November (depending how advent falls that year).

saveforthat · 29/10/2023 12:28

These threads always show both extremes from people who put up a tree in November (yes I know it doesn't hurt anyone else but I have never come across this in real life). To those who put it up on Xmas eve. I always aim for the first weekend in December because I used to travel every week for work and wouldn't see much of it otherwise, now it's just a tradition. Always buy a real tree, I think plastic ones, however expensive look awful.

Peridot1 · 29/10/2023 12:30

You can get some really nice ‘plastic’ trees now though @saveforthat. Sadly I have to have artificial as I’m allergic to the real thing.

This is insane. How does tree+presents take up less space than just presents?

CuppaRosie · 29/10/2023 12:33

Hmmm. I hadn’t thought about it, as not feeling that excited this year. We are going away on the 28th, so will take it down in the 27th…so probably earlier than usual. Maybe first weekend in December.
