Picture advent calendars that add to the scene rather than have random pictures behind the doors

I hope the title makes sense.
Anyway, I came across these advent calendars that seem to fit the bill and thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking.

For beautiful advent calendars check out Angela Harding - we've had a few of hers and they really are works of art...every door adds to the scene. We've still got one up in the kitchen several years later as it's so lovely...!

We had one last year, it was lovely

These do look lovely.
I just wish they'd show a couple of the illustrations behind the doors so you'd know you were buying (what I now know to be) continuity calendars.

I've been fooled before and bought a beautiful picture calendar only to open first window to find a random Christmas pudding 😫

Edited

I bought this one a couple of years ago and the pictures behind the doors are fabulous. I actually took a photo of one to show a friend (in another country) and we made up captions to go with the pictures. It was a hoot and I've never got so much value from an advent calendar before.

This one was also quite long and decorative, it fitted my mantel perfectly and was a proper decoration in its own right - I'd recommend getting one like this

Just wanted to say I absolutely love this thread. I'm obsessed with advent calendars. We have little ones for the children (teenagers 😂) and then little individual chocolates to have so they don't have the horrible naff chocolate calendars. I have fond memories of my parents finding those little tiny Cadbury's chocolate bars for when I was wee. I send one to my brother in law and family and my mother in law and finally we have a family one and a dog treat one. Oh and an advent candle too!

It was a poignant moment when I was clearing my late parents' home when I found some of the advent calendars I'd sent them over the years...

Ohhh @CorylusAgain I had an idea! Would you be up for turning this thread into a Calendar sharing thread? I'd love to have a peek at everyone's calendars and follow along with opening all the windows throughout December (I'm trying not to spend too much this year so I don't yet know if I'll be able to have one of my own).

That would be wonderful. People share their beauty ones but one with just a simple picture would also be nice.

The links and nostalgia on this thread have been fantastic. Thanks everyone
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's calendars in December 😁

Mine's arrived, it's really cheered me up ! I went for the one in the OP to stop myself deliberating forever. Thanks again @CorylusAgain for the lovely thread

Our Artfile calendar is on the way! Went for the Secret Garden one ❤️ 🎄

YuletideSolace · 01/11/2023 13:56

@Justonemorecoffeeplease I would love to see some photos of your collection if you want to/have the time to post! Have you kept the ones you gave to your DPs (sorry for your loss Flowers )?

Also love the one you went for this year.

@TheNoodlesIncident Oh that's really lovely!

@belgiumchocolates and others, would you be willing to post a photo as your calendars arrive? I love seeing Christmas things in situ as it's such a different feel to seeing items on shopping sites.

@TeaTurtle that's one of my favourites. I'm resisting (for now) but would love to follow along if you're willing to share in Dec!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/11/2023 17:27

I bought this one for Gdcs - it’s from the Museum Collection catalogue,,but also online. It’s 3D, you add a piece each day.
(Ignore the light shining on the pic.)

I’m waiting for my Alison Gardiner Country House advert calendar to arrive, can’t wait!

Oh @MissyB1 that’s gorgeous too. I have some cards by Alison Gardiner that I’ve kept for years because they’re so perfect and pretty.

AnneButNotHathaway · 03/11/2023 11:27

WOW! Thanks for sharing this, OP! I've been doing family photo calendars for years and we aren't big on advent ones, but this one definitely looks worth buying, or at least it would make a great gift.

Smellderflower · 06/11/2023 13:01

This is such a lovely thread! I've also gone for the Alison Gardiner country house calendar but seriously considering getting a second calendar 'for DD' to go with the chocolate one she insists she wants.

CorylusAgain · 07/11/2023 07:51

I'm loving all the suggestions!
Really looking forward to seeing what people have chosen and what appears during advent.

I came across a Gemma Koomen one last night which someone shared on Instagram. Can't link right now as sat at the dentists but may be worth a look if you fancy a whimsical woodland type theme

CorylusAgain · 30/11/2023 18:20

And suddenly it's the last day of November!
I'm looking forward to seeing people's advent calendars tomorrow, starting the countdown to Christmas 🎄 😁

Day one
Sorry the photos aren't great, the calendar is quite shiny and reflects light if it's in a brighter place.
