Anyway, I came across these advent calendars that seem to fit the bill and thought I'd share in case anyone else is looking.

I get really frustrated by most advent calendars that start with a lovely scene that gets progressively spoiled by the pictures of random Christmas tat.
So every year I seek out one's that get progressively more interesting as the scene gets added to 😊

Fuck sake, now I’ve bought something else I didn’t know I needed until it was thrust in front of me at gone midnight.

I’m off to sleep now, before I hit ‘buy with Apple Pay’ on anything else.

If you remember what they're called do let me know. It's usually impossible to tell from the pictures or description. But the video of this one shows it beautifully.

I loved the ones with glitter as a child. Still do even though I know glitter is evil. We have a refillable one from Next that I got when my eldest was tiny bit it doesn't fit much in. I might buy some paper ones this year but still do the chocolate one for the dc. I used to love running downstairs every morning to open the little window and see what was inside. I had a chocolate one once when I was around 9. I saved up all the chocolates until Christmas Day. I'm not sure I was a normal child.

CONTINUITY!!! I just woke up when I remembered! Continuity Advent Calendar. It doesn’t help much with an internet search but maybe if you are ringing a supplier or retailer?!

For beautiful advent calendars check out Angela Harding - we've had a few of hers and they really are works of art...every door adds to the scene. We've still got one up in the kitchen several years later as it's so lovely...!

Yes, most of the Richard Selmer ones do this, and I also had a lovely Coppenrath one called "In the Christmas house" which did too.

We had this one two years ago and it's really cute because you open the door and see what's happening in the house. So, great for nosey parkers like me

Me too! I love the little dog. I love Angela’s work, partly as she draws whippets which I love.

Oh I love the OP ones , I’m just popping out , but when I return I will have a proper look and work out wether it’s worth buying one for this year and one for next year at the same time . Which is odd because literally 5 minutes ago I didn’t know I needed this at all .
