So what supermarket substitutions have you had in your xmas shop? I was expecting a couple, but most were like for like...

This is the most annoying one:

Sainsbury's Milk Chocolate Yule Log, Taste the Difference 442g,
substituted with

• Sainsbury's Raspberry Sponge Roll, Taste the Difference 268g

Maris Piper potatoes substited for nothing. No potatoes at all. FFS! Also no prawns or salmon for the starter. Looks like a 6am trip to the supermarker tomorrow morning 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think dundees are really difficult to find anywhere nowadays. It's my dad's favorite and I looked last year in all the supermarkets on the trip up (including a M and S foodhall) and failed, and I've failed since November looking when I've been shopping.

@Adviceneeded200 we found a Dundee in M&S yesterday, there were only two left, it's nice and weighty.

My worst was Giant pickled onion Monster Munch substituted with Onion rings.

Tesco,2.3kg Clementines subbed with 5 clementines

2 large cook yourself large baguettes subbed with 4 medium ones

No Yule logs no sub

@Polkadotpjs my order arrived covered in someone else's split cream. Maybe it was yours 😆 Also all over my veg & cheese

Nothing too terrible. A few subs but all for the same item just a different variety, and thankfully Ocado sub equivalent amounts whereas Sainsburys used to give me a smaller packet of whatever and assume I’d be happy with that. I’d rather pay more and get the actual amount I want.

They did send me crème fraiche instead of soured cream. Which isn’t the worst sub but also not what I want for my chilli. I should be able to get that from the local mini Tesco tomorrow.

Ordered chipolatas, got normal size sausages so OK with that.
Ordered duck and orange pate, got sent coleslaw, definitely not OK with that. Can't believe there was no other pate in the shop.

Well the little person I live with insisted we go to the supermarket late this afternoon. We picked up the missing items and more but had to queue to pay for an hour. Oh and people where fighting over joints of meat and taking it from others trolleys. .

Are they thinking "not kosher", as I can't see anything else they have in common!
We got click and collect but nothing mad except it was Morrison's and we haven't done click and collect with them since lockdown and we didn't know you have to take bags.

Ordered Brussel sprouts, substituted for broccoli.

Broccoli was however also on the shop, not sure how much broccoli ASDA though I could eat...

Ordered diced swede, substituted for parsnips.

Parsnips was, you guessed it, also on my list.

Ordered dog food...they sent cat food 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

I did decline them through fear of if we ate that much broccoli and parsnips we would produce toxic gas. Also declined the cat food as well, I have a dog!!

I had 24 substitutions on my delivery, some were ok just different flavours ie no cheese and onion Pringles got original instead. Ordered extra cheeses as I had thought I would do a big cheese board Boxing Day lunch every single one was substituted with Gouda 🤣🤣 the most annoying thing was my gammon. I ordered a large gammon joint It was substituted with a 700g pork loin 🤣

Very pleased today with OCADO -missing porcini dried mushrooms, sub of normal white mushrooms with organic white mushrooms, and sub of egg tarts with eclairs. Yes subs were more expensive - shame but at least only 2. I was expecting a lot more issues. We dont have a big Xmas so i was not ordering fancy meats or desserts. I had bought a few bits earlier

It seems silly not to be able to specify more restrictions. I am veggie so wouldnt want necessarily meat substitutes - although do buy meat for DC. Howver I am getting very fed up with vegan being treated as equivalent to veggie.

32 items substituted or cancelled including the Christmas Turkey, veggie main and potatoes 😭 has been a real palava trying to buy everything that I had already ordered as I’m working tomorrow and only had today to get things done. Worst substitution was probably luxury cheese biscuits which were replaced with ryvita or maybe the mince pies which were replaced with cherry Bakewells 🙄

Nothing vital, some of the subs were reasonable but there were a couple of odd ones!

All on the same order... In which we had also ordered a yule log.

• a load of other substitutes. A £150 order went down to under £90. Poor DH will be out braving the shops tomorrow to get the missed bits.

We had no cream in store except for Elmlea by 10am this morning in Tescos After full shelves the day before .The next lot arrived at 2.00pm today but won’t last until tomorrow, So much cream too.

This has been the worst year for subs for us but I wasn't sure if it was because I chose an evening slot rather than my usual morning slot.

@WrappedInRed ground tumeric! Some mixed spice or cinnamon I could understand. But turmeric! I guess the colour is similar.

@LastTrainBeforeChristmas it's like they just saw the word "ground" and thought that will do!

Also I do a click and collect but their shutter was broken so we had to park at another bit and walk over with the crates etc. In the rain 🤦🏻‍♀️
