So what supermarket substitutions have you had in your xmas shop? I was expecting a couple, but most were like for like...

This is the most annoying one:

Sainsbury's Milk Chocolate Yule Log, Taste the Difference 442g,
substituted with

• Sainsbury's Raspberry Sponge Roll, Taste the Difference 268g

These were our subs (out of 123 items) so Tesco did quite well! If they upgrade you then you still pay the cheaper price… got quite a lot of profiteroles to get through now though 😂

Tesco delivered today. Two items unavailable and no substitute - mini cheddars and cheesy balls.

Rest was all there. I've ordered from the Festive Food to Order range... so that had to be finalised last week

Our 0% alcohol free lager was substituted by Asda for alcoholic lager - rejected!

So I Ordered from Morrisons via Amazon and received alcohol free lager!

Still waiting to findd out about mine. Delivery due for between 6 and 8 tonight and I usually have the receipt by now to find out what's missing.
Dh did pop into asda on his way home from work and said it was bedlam, so many pickers picking online orders clashing with shelf stackers trying to restock.

I had a pack of mixed roasting herbs subbed for a pack of rosemary. The delivery man would not have it that I was ok with the sub even though I promised him I had thyme, bay and sage in already and would cope.
The other sub was curly parsley instead of flat. Our Tesco is quite good really - I know what time to book so it gets picked first thing.

They swapped my Camembert for ricotta. Furious

Ocado. Almost every week I'm brought at least 2 or 3 subs and there will be a few missing items such as milk which is listed on the receipt as out of stock ( seriously, no sub for that?), so was really surprised to have nothing missing or subbed this morning.

You have to pay full price for Ocado subs (unless the item you ordered was on offer and then you get the same percentage discount on the sub). The subs are invariably much more expensive. I often wonder if they use subs to up sell to you on items with a bigger profit margin or to get rid of stock that's not shifting.
they used to put subs in a seperate bag but now mix them in with the shopping, so the driver is delayed whilst you search them out to return them. There is no option not to have subs.

Wove an Asda shop later which I'm not a fan of but it was all it could get a click and collect for back in November!

They tend to be awful but I have all my essentials in, that's just drinks and nibbles. So I'm not too worried.

Tesco - 2 tubs of tesco ice cream for 2 tubs of branded ice cream. Which for most would be a bonus but its got gluten in so not suitable for all the family. Not complaining though as I received everything else on time.

All good from Tesco apart from vegan sausage rolls.

Coriander substituted for parsley 🤦‍♀️

Cherries in kirsch substituted for pears in cognac.

Normal tinfoil instead of wide tinfoil. Raspberry and passionfruit meringue thing instead of chocolate and caramel choux wreath. 2x 4 pint bottles of milk instead of 1x 6 pint bottle of milk. Tesco - I’m perfectly happy with that (though I did reject the meringue thing).

Mushrooms for mushrooms (bigger packet). Considering I had 3 consecutive nightmares last night about cooking Christmas dinner and it going wrong (and my lovely in laws being horrible about it), and woke up each time, I'm very relieved 😂

My friends just had 2 large chickens substituted with 10 packs of chicken noodles.

Last year I got 6 packs raw sea bass instead of 3 packs of smoked salmon

Cushioned loo roll in place of quilted loo roll.

I'm going to have to cancel Christmas. It's all gone wrong

Lots of subs, but nothing awful. The only odd one was gluten free pastry subbed for gluten free pies but that's no huge issue.

Also no heroes but other than that all good.

We had lots of substitutions (sabra lovely hummus for tesco gross reduced fat hummus stacker 🤮)

My favourite one was:

3 x finest ready made Turkey gravy

For

4 x tubs bisto chicken gravy granules.

I'm trying to imagine the absolute river of gravy you could make with 4 tubs of granules.

My tesco cheese balls also not available. They've offered no substitution, which is understandable.

Thankfully I've managed to get some in the local small Tesco on my lunch break!

All very minor really. I didn't order any meat or specifically Christmas stuff though, it's almost all just weekly shopping. Dh got the beef from the farmer today.

Belvoir cordial subbed to robinsons squash- rejected as I don’t like sweeteners

Plain breadsticks subbed to sesame ones- kept these

Maris piper potatoes subbed to red potatoes- rejected.

There was no toilet roll and no crackers!

Popped to Lidl though and got the right potatoes and loo roll. No drama.
