Waiting....

OP posts:
ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 17/11/2022 07:20

Can I just say thank you @SalmonOnTheRock for starting this.
I'd registered my boss was unimpressed the alarmclock was going off early on their birthday to get a slot booked, but not the date.
So I greeted him on Tuesday with "Happy Birthday" and got massive brownie points!

nannykatherine · 17/11/2022 08:36

Why bother
just go fetch shopping yourself !!!!!!!
easier

KattyPuss · 17/11/2022 08:40

Some of us don’t have cars or are disabled like myself.
We can’t get to the supermarket most times- never mind crazy Christmas!

Were you in bed with your boss on his Birthday? Grin

🤢🤮🤢🤮
Absolutely not.
My actual work boss.

I do actually know my husband's birthday 😁

Oh I think I get it now. You told your boss that you set your alarm to get a Tesco slot, not because it was his Birthday, and he was not impressed.

over invested in trying to understand what you're talking about

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 17/11/2022 09:44

My actual work boss was moaning at work a week or 2 ago that his wife had set the alarm clock crazy early on his birthday because she wanted to book a tesco slot.

When Salmon posted her cryptic title, I read the thread, realised it must be my boss's birthday, and when he walked into work I wished him happy birthday. He was surprised I knew the date - but I only knew because of the alignment with tesco shopping slots being released.

I would select and checkout with anything in your basket as soon as you can.get that order confirmed as yours.
then go back in and Amend.I say this because the sites tend to crash lots this time of year due to footfall.and so you could lose your timed spot opening.
by only needing to amend you will never lose it as it just times out where you were.
then try and get as close to your basket as possible so your not then having to fight with a glitchy site closer to the time

OK thank you!

how on earth did we cope before supermarket slots, lol?
Most of us have vehicles with a boot, the way my parent's did it (in person) seems to work for me, just dont leave it until xmas eve!
I dont even spend £100 on xmas food, so ocado's xmas minimum spend can suck my big toe Grin

toddles off to spend it on cashmere mittens....

My parents didn’t have a boot.
they walked into town and carried everything back. More than one trip.
And then on Christmas Eve my dad would walk to the butchers and then walk the half an hour back up hill carrying a Turkey etc.

Some things are an improvement.

Thisisnotreallymyname · 17/11/2022 11:16

LOL
Thought this was for Peter Kay tickets 😂

SweetPeaPods · 17/11/2022 11:42

Gutted I missed out. Earliest I can get is 19th. Going to be 38w pregnant and really don't fancy facing the supermarket in person with the kids tagging along. DH is working so might have to try the shops during the night while they are all sleeping.

grannieali · 17/11/2022 12:11

I am as baffled as some others. I hope to move to a sheltered flat soon in town and will need to sign up for delivered food as I am disabled and have no car. Does this strange thread mean that using Tesco is not on? Should I go for Asda or Sainsbury's? No Morrisons. Up till now I have relied solelyon a village store opposite my cottage. Not cheap.

Tomasinabombadil · 17/11/2022 13:43

TheOrigRights · 16/11/2022 20:56

@Tomasinabombadil

go to delivery saver and choose Any time click and collect

Many thanks @TheOrigRights
Just signed up now. So chuffed that I can now book my slots up to 4 weeks in advance.
I’ll just have to keep an eye on which future order I’ll be amending atm.
I’ve got two Click & Collect orders booked now for 2nd Dec & 19th Dec.🙂

Thread like these bring out all the narrow minded fools, who cannot for the life of them think why anyone would need or want to do anything different to them.

It gets a bit sneery.
Oh why don't you just go to the local shops
Why not stock up your freezer
All this hysteria, in the old days we just went to the supermarket

[I see that Similar threads suggests "111 call back" "999 or 101" and "when did you get a BFP" - FFS]

The new feature is working brilliantly I see 😂

DarkNecessities · 17/11/2022 16:12

Believe me. It is not easier going to the store.

Pottering about in my nightie having a shower and a coffee whilst in a VIRTUAL QUEUE sure beats pushing my trolley round and then queueing at the checkout.

Does your boss (& other colleagues) not buy cakes for everyone on their own birthdays?
When I was working, am retired now, it was usual to bring cakes in to work on one’s birthday. A birthday card for signatures would have been doing the rounds for the previous couple of weeks.

It is about 'queueing' for a Christmas delivery slot with Tesco. 10259 was the place number in the queue when the OP started.

Thank you. I thought as much but couldn’t quite believe it.

Thank you. I thought as much but couldn’t quite believe it.

It reminded me of the first lockdown which is the only time i have ever 'queued' for a delivery slot - stressful!
