Now we know who took all the toilet paper in covid.

Ummm, shop local or independent?

I’m disabled.

If only Aldi delivered! Click and Collect is OK but obviously not as convenient. But the food's cheaper and better quality too.

Fed up with all those Tesco 'Aldi Price Match' things where they're nothing like the same quality (or even ingredients) as the Aldi product.

First 4 posts, I thought this thread was some secret code for a meet up of like minded persons, maybe perverts, maybe incels, maybe hackers, terrorists...

Mind blown that its a tesco slot.

daisybrown37 · 15/11/2022 11:34

No sure why people are so confused as to why people shop online?

I do it every week, I can budget easier. If the balance is too much, then I can take things out or look for cheaper items. No impulse buys!

At Christmas I prefer it because I like some of their food to order range, plus easier to plan and find things.

Did we cope before online delivery? Of course, but I would rather not!

Me too 😂 it took me ages to figure out what it was all about!! 😂

Grigorisangel · 15/11/2022 12:38

I can’t believe how complicated this seems. I shop with Asda online weekly so pay £6 for the delivery pass for unlimited free deliveries each month and have a reoccurring slot booked for Saturdays every week. They sent me an email last week to say Christmas slots are available as reoccurring are cancelled that week, I opened the app, picked a time for the 23rd and checked out with a bottle of milk in the basket. I have never in all my years of online shopping had to go through what you all are with Tesco
I do hope everyone queuing gets the slot they are wanting x

Now that would have been an interesting thread 😀

doodlejump1980 · 15/11/2022 15:09

Fucksake. Was in queue from 0700 to 0905 when I eventually got in. Put a couple of things in my basket then it wouldn’t let me finish the check-out. The slot has now expired even though I’ve been trying to check out since then and now there are no slots available from the 20th Dec. 😡

Dadof5gremlins · 15/11/2022 16:27

I am 0 because I'm gonna go in store and get what I need.

DarkNecessities · 15/11/2022 17:50

Do you know, it’s really not much hassle.
I joined the queue, went away and checked an hour later, then again until it said less than 15mins. All whilst I got on and did other stuff in my PJs. Much better than actually queueing in store.

Fascinating thread!

I am amazed at this; I don't think the same pressure for slots exists here in Ireland, though I don't really do online grocery shopping bar in rare situations for exactly this reason:

The shopper would have ordered ‘fresh bunch of mint’. If it wasn’t in stock, my logic would tell me to give them the pot of fresh mint, but the computer would suggest a tub of ‘dried mint’. Or if they picked ‘Orange marmalade 500g’ and it wasn’t in stock, I’d have chosen them ‘Orange Marmalade 300g’ but the machine would say ‘Grapefruit marmalade 500g’.

Sometimes sense prevails but the odd substitutions and the missing items drive me mad. I always end up having to do a top up shop & spend more.

memories of me and my Dp trying to get a slot for UK Lapland. Good luck to you all
That's exactly what I thought this thread was about first too!

I'm in Belfast and joined the queue at 540am,place in the queue was 21649

FallingsHowIFeel · 15/11/2022 10:11

What a weirdo you are. Why are you saying ‘you do this’ and ‘you do that’ like it’s the only way to do things. 🙄

Some of us order online. Some get it all on one big order. Some get it over a couple of orders. Some get it from one shop, some go to 20 shops. Some people don’t have room to freeze lots of things.

As for booking meat and picking it up. I’m vegan so I don’t do that.

Why the fuck can people not just accept others do it differently instead of whining ‘I don’t get it‘ and ‘I don't understaaaaaaaaand’.

Only on mumsnet would many posters come on a shopping queue thread, to question why people need online shopping. Some people just need to keep their beaks out. We're all different, different needs, different lives, different circumstances.

Try Sainsbury’s. There's slots up to and including 23 Dec where I am (including the cheaper saver slots).

Bunchymcbunchface · 16/11/2022 17:50

I thought this was the Peter Kay ticket thread

Frazzled50 · 16/11/2022 17:56

I didn’t get the yearly email ( been a delivery pass customer for blooming years). Went to work only to be greeted by a couple of very tired colleagues who had been up since silly o’clock trying to book their slots.
Few minutes to spare before my start time I opened up the app clicked on the 22nd and one evening slot remaining added 10 bottles of Prosecco and checked out. Quickest ever Christmas delivery slot booked for me #notsofrazzled50 😂

whowhatwhen · 16/11/2022 18:22

I shop with Tesco and went on today, about 11am, and there were slots available all week for the run up to Christmas!?

I nearly died of shock when I saw this number at 6:32 it took me until 08:55 to get a place and then the nearest spot was 7-8pm on the 21st😕

I am 10259
howlingmoon · 16/11/2022 18:36

Ok i am not understanding any of this. I am ordering online as usual and nothing has changed for me, no queues or waiting for slots, just as many available as always.
Is something going on, is it location dependent or something to do with xmas?

If it is xmas, i tend not to shop much, only 2 of us and just get stuff a few days before from local butcher, etc.

It all seems a bit odd and excessive, but then xmas always does to me.

Peachy2005 · 16/11/2022 18:38

I was #948 and got in at 6.02. I only wanted to book my regular Wednesday slots as I get groceries for an elderly neighbour and it’s just easier to keep the same routine. I couldn’t sleep well with the tension so I was already on browsing putting things in my basket earlier and then it just switched to being in the queue at 5.40.it was very glitchy though, countless errors when trying to book slots and check-out and pay so it took way longer than usual. Sorry to everyone waiting!

Ineke · 16/11/2022 18:39

Life is just too short for this.

howlingmoon · 16/11/2022 18:39

ignore me, sorry, i get it now Grin

howlingmoon · 16/11/2022 18:41

how on earth did we cope before supermarket slots, lol?
Most of us have vehicles with a boot, the way my parent's did it (in person) seems to work for me, just dont leave it until xmas eve!
I dont even spend £100 on xmas food, so ocado's xmas minimum spend can suck my big toe Grin

toddles off to spend it on cashmere mittens....

Figgygal · 16/11/2022 18:51

I had no clue what i was reading when clicked on nor of the fuss over tesco slots. I secured my morrisons slot 3 weeks ago
