OP posts:
Tornado70 · 15/11/2022 09:11

Took me 3 hours, but I got a slot for 23rd!
I got pushed to the back of the queue twice…..

Whoevereatsgrass · 15/11/2022 09:11

Oh heck, I forgot! I am 145280 with a 12 minute wait.

ElBandito · 15/11/2022 09:14

Wait, so you've all PAID for delivery saver whatever's and Tesco are treating you like this Shock. For the second year running Confused.

Emmacb82 · 15/11/2022 09:15

I logged on at 6:30 and got on about 8, got the slot I wanted. Took many attempts to get through each stage as kept crashing but eventually managed it. When do the new year slots go on?

This is about the 5th year running 😑😂

Call me old but I remember back in the day when Tesco didn't announce the Christmas dates, there was no big hype. You just went on and booked your slot in the usual manner, at midnight the next date was released. There was no phone app, just the desktop. As you were only interested in one date, and days were released one at a time (like normal slots) there didn't seem to be the same problems.

SkylightSkylight · 15/11/2022 09:19

@BooksAndHooks. I don't think I got an email either, but I'll look after. I was also ordering last night & didn't see anything. Logged in due to this thread, was 225,000 with 30 minute wait. Now 20 minutes later 2239 less than 1 minute, so 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

My husband does the shop early on the morning of the 23rd. It’s never been that bad. Why are you doing this? Genuinely interested.

I'm fascinated by this too. Is it due to lack of transport to get to a shop ? I know the British love a queue but this is extreme.

For those posters judging people who are queuing for a Tesco slot - disability, stress in crowds, childcare, working like a demon right up to and including Christmas, not wanting to queue for an hour just to get into the car park ...

It's far easier to sit on the sofa at 5.30 with a cuppa in your dressing gown. Stressful, granted. But less stressful than attempting a trip to the shops on Fri/Sat before the big day.

And yes, I'll freeze ahead and shop local for meat but there isn't a greengrocer or deli for miles.

Let people have a whinge in solidarity with others in the Tesco online queue - it's the traditional start to the Christmas season 😂

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 15/11/2022 09:20

Pah, amateurs! I got my Xmas shopping slots (2!) about 6 weeks ago.

#smug 🤐🙃

thenightsky · 15/11/2022 09:21

82,640 and a six minute wait here.

I completely forgot to log on at 6am. I was awake at that time too, so that's annoying.

Sainsbury do the one day at a time thing, and it works well - my folks didn’t even queue to book and got the day they wanted.

I use Morrisons, and although they release a week early to delivery savers and all on the same day, the release seems to be staggered by area, so mine didn’t become available until early the following morning. I got in as soon as I tried, no queue, and had the option of booking any day that had been released.

It seems to be Tesco’s system that creates these issues. I can’t believe that their customer numbers are so many orders of magnitude greater than all the others that they have to have this chaos every year.

FluffyPancake · 15/11/2022 09:25

Can’t you just go to the shop the week before Christmas? The shop’s only closing for one day 🙄 I never get the panic for Christmas food shopping.

It's FOMO. The same happens when the London Marathon ballot opens!

Ocado by any chance?😁

Disabled and use colleague discount.

I haven't shopped in a supermarket since tesco started doing grocery deliveries, what, 12 or more years ago. I hate supermarkets with a passion. My Christmas slot is not necessarily for Christmas food, it will just be my general weekly shop too. I also shop for elderly relatives who struggle to get out.

NigelHargreaves · 15/11/2022 09:31

I’m on now and the dates only go up to 5th December??????? 😡

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 15/11/2022 09:33

In all seriousness I am totally sympathetic with those having to queue to make their shopping booking and not actually smug.

We should have kept the system from the pandemic and improved it, such as access first for those with registered disabilities or other access needs such as baby <6 months, disabled child etc., deliveries that you can unpack later if you need them. It's the 21st century and most shopping deliveries and systems are very ableist when actually they could have been a proper revolution. Slot release should also be staggered thereafter.

LadyMarmaladeAtkins · 15/11/2022 09:34

Ocado by any chance?

Yes, although they've been getting somewhat on my wick for other reasons, lately.

I am unable to walk around a store so rely on deliveries all year round. Si queuing up like this is essential if I am to have food for Christmas!

Maybe there should be a points system, get a point every time you use a delivery then get priority booking based on how many points you have!

Anyway, thanks to a glitch in Tescos system, I was able to book ahead to the 20th Dec when I was last on line a week ago! My order is still showing in my account today so all I booked today was a click and collect on the 23rd to top up with fresh stuff.

I got on just now after a 6 min wait, but only click and collect left for 23rd.
