Somebody near me has their tree up now!

I usually do mine the first or second week in December although I might actually do mine during the last week in November this year.

What about everyone else?

I don't work on Wednesdays, so nearest Wednesday to Dec 1st. I decorate the house while the kids are at school, then we pick up our tree on the way home

CoodleMoodle · 26/10/2022 19:54

1st December, and it comes down on 31st. We used to do it the first Saturday in Dec when DD was little but switched to the 1st a couple of years ago.

I do the lights while they're at school though because it takes ages and they get so impatient! Last year I did it on the 30th Nov as the 1st wasn't a preschool day and I didn't need DS under my feet whilst swearing at the bastard lights. They then did the rest of the decorations when they got home.

Christmas Eve.

Putting up a tree before Remembrance is simply crass.

MinervaTerrathorn · 26/10/2022 19:54

Reindeer are up year round, Advent calendars go up for Advent, Christmas decs on 21st, cards strung up when there are too many in the window. Put things away usually early Feb.

IamChipmunk · 26/10/2022 19:55

Used to aim for 10th Dec but when thats mid week then the weekend before, so bit earlier this year as go before that not after!!
Wouldn't do it before 1st December though! And like to get them down before New Year, usually thats new years day or the day after as we host but we are not hosting this year so will probably take them down on 30th!

orangeisthenewpuce · 26/10/2022 19:55

Weekend before Christmas day.

Margo34 · 26/10/2022 19:55

Nextdoor-but-4 have theirs up still from last year 😱

Mine will go up the 2nd weekend in December 😊

CarPoor · 26/10/2022 19:55

The closest Saturday to the 1st December. Someone near me has there's too, and I'm a big Christmas fan but think it's loses the magic if it's been up since September!

TeenDivided · 26/10/2022 19:55

Not before the last day of term.
Stays up until last day or 2 of school holidays.
I can't cope with school/college and decorations.

PinkHeadphones · 26/10/2022 19:56

Around 16/17/18 December. And down on 6 January.

cookiecreammmpie · 26/10/2022 19:57

I try to get it up for the 1st December.

ManefesationofConciousness · 26/10/2022 19:58

Christmas eve
go and buy it from local farm
decorate it whilst having fish and chips
chijdrens service -dress in nativity costumes , animals etc
everyone back to ours for an early supper and light the tree

NiqueNique · 26/10/2022 19:58

Somewhere in the 2nd week of December. We have a real tree and I like it to stay looking happy and well right into January.

InFiveMins · 26/10/2022 19:59

Usually the weekend closest to 1st December but I'm going to put it up extra early this year I think - maybe 19th November. Want to get the most out of it, it always seems to be over too quickly!

Wibbly1008 · 26/10/2022 20:00

December. Pleasssseeee December- can’t handle endless months of Christmas, we have not had halloween yet!!!

EconomyClassRockstar · 26/10/2022 20:00

First tree is a 7ft fake and goes up Thanksgiving weekend as all my kids are home. The real one goes up the first weekend of Dec as long as that isn't Dec 1st. Both come down January 1st as find that a really cathartic way of starting a new year.

CraftyGin · 26/10/2022 20:01

In the week before Christmas

DPotter · 26/10/2022 20:02

Saw my first outdoor Christmas lights this evening. Way too early

scrivette · 26/10/2022 20:03

Last week of November, DD likes it up for her birthday because when she was 2 I put her birthday gifts on the undecorated tree and she has requested it every year since. --

I may have already put up the decorations I bought at the garden centre last week claiming they were 'winter' decorations.--

ParentallyUnprepared · 26/10/2022 20:05

Usually the first weekend of December but I'll have a 13 month old so I'm not sure I'll bother.

Or it'll just be a tiny tree.

It's a shame, as I bloody love doing my tree.

EdithStourton · 26/10/2022 20:06

A week or ten days before Christmas. We get ours from a local charity fundraiser and they don't tend to have their trees much before mid-December.

It usually stays up until 12th Night, but sometimes comes down sooner.

whoruntheworldgirls · 26/10/2022 20:06

Will be 3rd or 4th Dec this year. Usually the first Saturday if I've not got plans. I have 2 trees in this house though so it might take both days!

Lulu1919 · 26/10/2022 20:07

Didn't bother last year

Parrotpretty · 26/10/2022 20:09

Mine will be Friday 2nd this year.
