@Travelplans why don’t you look at the orchard toys games in aldi? Believe there around £3 each. They make a nice little gift

Agree on the Orchard games. That is one of our go-tos, along with bulk buying the 5 for £5 or 10 for £10 books at the Works and giving those.

17caterpillars1mouse · 26/08/2022 17:08

@Travelplans i have a similar aged DD and I always go for usbourne little dolly dress up books or usbourne magic painting. Usually at least one on deal on Amazon and lovely gifts that don't take up much space in the parents house. I usually add a small bag of Percy pigs

Fabuleuse · 26/08/2022 17:31

Boggle is £5.50 at Amazon. Best ever price I think. Bought one for 8 year old DS who loves word games. Also Bargainmax has a code for 25% off certain sale items and there's some good toys in it. Free delivery over £9.99 too.

MerylSqueak · 26/08/2022 15:11

Does anyone know any good tips for discount on Vans online? It has to be the actual company. I signed up for the newsletter ages ago but there's only ever publicity, no codes.

@MerylSqueak try VSMU-4J5C-M5Z8 one use or EXTRA20 off selected sale.

mac1974 · 26/08/2022 17:59

A bit of real life shopping today that I thought was worth sharing...

The entertainer had lots of Bluey toys in stock which I believe are quite popular atm. They had 20% off most of them

Home bargains had lots of good stocking filler type things...bath bombs for 69p, face masks 3 for £2, sachets of microwave popcorn 3 for £1 or 29p each, mini canvases on stands 69p, little sticker books 69p.

Also Wilkos clearance section had desk tidy 20p, stationery set in a nice box 50p

I was shopping with my 8yo DD who seems to struggle to spend her own money so we went bargain hunting!

10% for s better than nothing. DD wanted particular Doc’s last year and not a discount in sight… it hurt a little putting in my card details! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Motherofalegend · 26/08/2022 19:35

@purplepandas that was me, I ordered for less than £10 a pair. There was a section on the site I came across when I googled for fingerless gloves, you couldn’t choose which ones you wanted. They were selling for £12 a pair, but with the code which another poster had used brought it down to £9.80 (I think). I shared the link to the page I used, as couldn’t find it on their site - it was one offs. They arrived yesterday.

Photos of front and back. It massively keen on the red ones, but they’re not for me!

Hi all, not really Christmas related but I need your bargain hunting skills. My dd has been invited to her first birthday party from nursery and I need to order presents for twin girls turning 4 I believe. Anyone seen any bargains which would be suitable?

The works is great for that age... unicorn sticker books, craft and art supplies, books, the paper that is black and you scrap it to show the colours underneath

tootsnwoocake · 26/08/2022 19:45

Thanks for all the bargains so far.

I may have missed the boat on this but does anyone know of any bargainous heated throws that are reliable? There are loads on Amazon with mixed reviews so looking for a recommendation. I am thinking of a gift for DD aged 14 who is already complaining of the cold, so am dreading to think what she will be like in winter when we can't afford to heat the house!

BluOcty · 26/08/2022 19:46

That's such a great bargain on the gloves, Mother.

My original party bag deliveries have all been v quick - ordered Monday delivered today.

There are some really good Christmas bits in there still, garlands, decorations and advent bits. Plus a few spooky hallowe'en things (as well as toys).

purplepandas · 26/08/2022 19:46

Thanks @Motherofalegend , they look great. I have some myself and they are fab. Too late for this offer, they are not so bargainous right now. Well done :)

2under2howscary · 26/08/2022 19:49

My gin club has been dispatched! Yay

Motherofalegend · 26/08/2022 20:05

@purplepandas how annoying! I’d held off last year and when I saw it this year just went for it. They may do something again before Christmas :)

mac1974 · 26/08/2022 20:18

@Fabuleuse thanks for the boggle tip. I've purchased it to take on our next holiday. There's only so much uno & dobble I can take

dementedma · 26/08/2022 20:40

Jewellery link was great. 3 pairs of earrings and a bracelet for £65 and free postage. Thank you

Fivemoreminutes1 · 26/08/2022 20:50

Whittard have a good sale on with some lovely things 50% off www.whittard.co.uk/sale

I’m an unpaid volunteer and have just had a link to the following from my local council (so I’m happy it’s legit!). For anyone who works or volunteers for a charity a free discount card for a range of retailers. I confess I haven’t yet done a deep dive into the t&c.
www.charityworkerdiscounts.com

@DelurkingAJ , I’ve signed up and was quickly accepted, but wasn’t asked at any stage to prove that I was a charity worker/volunteer.

The email they then sent me says that if I change jobs I can update my email address and they’ll keep mailing.

The doesn’t sound quite right?

Famousthehero · 26/08/2022 21:12

There’s a sale on at Ohh deer - I haven’t looked through it all but looks like some nice (posh) gifts for arty teens/friends, eg learn Lino printing box, or previous papergang mystery stationery boxes.
I know people have also bought their mystery sock bundles before, though don’t know what they were like.
think there was controversy before when people ordered the mystery Xmas card bundle and some of them had expletives on…

peasando · 26/08/2022 21:12

I totally missed the nerf gun deal - have I missed the boat on that? Have been resisting getting one for my nearly six year old for ages (but ALL my friends have them mum!) 🙄 but if it was a good deal I might crumble

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 26/08/2022 21:23

My turtle doves gloves arrived yesterday and they are lovely .

DelurkingAJ · 26/08/2022 21:31

@Yalz that’s strange…as I said, it came from the local District Council’s ‘volunteers newsletter’ so I’d hope it’s above board. (Or maybe they just don’t care who has it and will spam you for your discount…)

Yalz · 26/08/2022 21:40

@DelurkingAJ , we’ll have to see if I suddenly get a lot more spam!

To get the Sainsbury’s/M&S discount you have to first deposit money on a linked card, which you can then spend as if it were a debit card. That’s the bit which is more risky, perhaps.

Scout2016 · 26/08/2022 21:43

Someone was after Polly Pockets I think. Bargainmax have a few in their sale with a code for extra 25% off over the bank holiday.
