Wreck how is your ds feeling?
2 of my friends (separate schools) have dc's who have tested positive in the last week.

Any idea what's happening with your car / DHs van?

Last time I bought glasses, I could have designer ones for £150 (with the additional costs for lenses so would have been £220 ish overall) but I got glasses and sunglasses for £140 combined)! It was while we were saving like mad for the house though so I may treat myself in the next few months because I think I'll need new lenses soon.
Woolly I think of my glasses as an essential so worth every penny considering how bad my eyes are (very very short sighted with different levels of astigmatism in both eyes).

Fluffy I might start calling ours a loo-tility because you go through the mini utility to get to the even tinier downstairs loo.

Morning!

Woke up boiling hot about 20 mins ago. The joy! 🥵🥵🥵

Wreck, my friend's DD had Covid twice with about the same gap. I've read there's an Omicron variant now, which might be this. I hope he's OK.

Do you think your car is suffering from a linked problem to last time? Where did your DH get this new van from? You'll end up sending it back like the last one!

I'm glad it's Friday. I need the weekend!

Ds is fine but we noticed he hadn't been eating all of his lunch which was a giveaway Grin I just hope I don't get it as I've only just got over last time.

Car started fine this morning so hopefully ok. The van is from a van sales place and has a six month warrantee but not sure what's covered. We would rather pay to get it fixed than send it back though as it's too much hassle and money otherwise. It's only done 28k miles so shouldn't be anything too serious hopefully.

I have to get a PCR this morning for work.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2022 08:24

Well, you don't have to pay for it, as it's the garage's responsibility this close to purchase. So that's something.

It's gorgeous here again. I want to wash our bedroom curtains. #livingthehighlife

No but we still have to pay the tax we've already paid (and they don't even refund the full amount of remaining months they keep 10%) plus amending the insurance etc so it ends up costing quite a bit. We know because of the last van. And the previous car 🤯 nightmare.

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 25/03/2022 08:32

Hello all :)

Hope you are all well. Beautiful weather here, absolutely loving the arrival of spring.

Have dentist today though and am running the village craft club this afternoon and then village bingo this evening so v busy!

Less than three weeks until the vasectomy reversal!

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 25/03/2022 09:01

Morning all.
Cracking weather. I can't believe we've had a new boiler fitted and then not needed the heating on for 2 days. 🤦‍♀️😹

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 25/03/2022 09:09

Meant to be a cold snap next week pussy so fingers crossed you can try out the new boiler :)

CrazyBaubles · 25/03/2022 09:11

Morning. Lovely weather here too, and I have nothing left to wash 😂

I was meant to be out for some drinks with friends this evening but it's been cancelled as one friend is unwell and the other has a sick dc and a partner who is refusing care for them (unsurprisingly none of us like him).

vasectomy your afternoon and evening sounds lovely (I'm ignoring the dentist part).

Wreck I hope you get the van sorted quickly.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 25/03/2022 14:41

I've planted some summer bulbs - blue anemones, bright pink freesias and something orange 🤔 possibly Ranunculus (although DH thinks that's a spell from Harry Potter) 😂
DH helped me, so...😱
He's also watered the pots here we go again

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2022 18:09

Happy Rudolph Day .

I have to sit on my hands to not buy any plants just yet , I have so many disasters when I plant things and the frost gets them .

I want to get a forsythia , they're all flowering now , might be a trip to B&Q coming up .

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 25/03/2022 18:23

70 I've got one, they're really quite hardy - I fell into it once Grin and it won.🤦‍♀️

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/03/2022 19:07

Ouch!

We have a climbing jasmine (tiny pink flowers) and a Cotoneaster (white flowers then berries and thorns ) .....you really don;t want to fall into a cotoneaster .

Even shredding the cuttings it fights back (and wins Xmas Shock )

FireflyGirl · 25/03/2022 21:59

Sorry to hark back to yesterday, but yes I can drive Fluffy. I have better than 20/20 vision in my good eye, and it just compensates 🤷

Did 20 minutes weeding in the strawberry patch at the allotment this morning. Got chatting to one of the old timers, and he said he was having to give it up. There's been quite a few old-timers leaving on our allotment the last few months, so the new people are coming onto well-loved plots with well established rhubarb/raspberry/strawberry patches and fruit trees. I'm a bit jealous, but they also have a lot more shade than my plot, are further from the car park (we don't have water on-site) and get rabbits/deer. Anyway, old timer mentioned he might have some canes in his shed so I said everything gratefully received. Popped back on the way to pick DS up and he'd left me a wheelbarrow #winning 😁

70 you should be good with anything that's not bedding plants. Which reminded me and I have now brought all my seedlings in. I put them out to sunbathe earlier 😁

I'm going for bottomless brunch with DMum, DSis, DAuntie and DCousin tomorrow, I can't wait. DD still breastfeeds, but only first and last thing, so I'll be able to have a few drinks and still be good for bedtime Grin

CrazyBaubles · 25/03/2022 22:55

Definitely winning there Firefly - wheelbarrow is on a list of things I want but have no real need of!

I'm considering bags to grow potatoes and carrots in. Wilko have tarp material ones and online I've seen felt type material.
Is one better than the other?

Plan for tomorrow is to go to wilko / B&Q / garden centre for supplies (mainly compost I think, but also 2 slimline water butts if wilko have them in stock), then home to actually plant some things.
I'm planning to use 2 plastic grape containers as mini propagators and plant chilli seeds, get the big planter sorted for my wildflower seeds, check I've got enough pots for sunflowers, investigate what is left of last years strawberry plants and replant and feed my Christmas trees in the hope it saves them.
Also need to generally tidy up the plants I've got already and check my house plants to see if any of them need to be potted on.

After all that excitement we're taking eldest nephew to the cinema (which I'm looking forward to).

Morning - was at the vets at 4...poor boy is now hiding behind the sofa after much poking and prodding and howling when in the carrier and the car and I have a £250 bill, eye drops, anti-inflammatory and a shredded arm. 😻

Crazy I bought the tarp ones from Wilko last year - they're fab and will be reused this year too. If you're doing something like Charlotte or Jazzy, you'll need 3 maybe 4 per bag. 6 inches of compost in the bottom, then spuds (once they're ready for planting), then 2 inches of compost, light watering and wait...when the shoots/leaves poke through, top them up with compost and repeat until they're about 4 inches from the top. Wait until they flower and they're done. We used tomato fertilizer on them once a week when the flowers appeared. We went to B&Q for seed potatoes last year.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 26/03/2022 06:24

Hopefully they'll look like this...

FireflyGirl · 26/03/2022 07:05

How's your DS this morning Wreck? There just seem to be so many people coming down with it now, it's so much more prevalent around here than earlier in the pandemic.

Wilko do seed potatoes as well, Crazy.

I tried them at the allotment a couple of years ago, but we had a late frost and it just completely killed them off Sad

I have some to try again this year. I put them in the greenhouse to chit, but nothing is happening yet... I'll be planting them in the next week or so, so I guess I'll see!

Hope DCat improves, puss. You could get some of those gloves that go up past your elbow like they use for hawks Grin

FireflyGirl · 26/03/2022 07:07

Also - utility room porn. Not sure I could justify having a room that size just for doing the laundry in, though! That's a decent sized playroom! 🤣

NoWordForFluffy · 26/03/2022 07:17

My potatoes are on top of the freezer chitting away! They've been up there for a good few weeks now and they'll go out at Easter. I think I have too many, but there you go! 🤣🤣

I've always used tarp bags, but put them in the ground now I have the space.

Yes, Puss, gauntlet gloves with a good score for scratch resistance!

We're going to the beach today. Hopefully the queue won't be too hideous!

Ds is ok but he first wants breakfast Shock he usually has a four course feast. Still just him positive. At least if I had it too I could get paid leave Blush feeling a bit stressed about Monday as I've got two long appointments booked in.

I've got uni work to do today and some washing. Dh is going to work.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 26/03/2022 07:46

Wreck I'm glad your DS is hungry today.

Dcat is currently exhausted and asleep on the spare bed. His sis gave him a good sniff when he came home and didn't recognise him.🤦‍♀️

Do gauntlet gloves go right up your arm and cover your tit ? I'm covered in savlon.😻 I don't really mind - and they're not sore, 'tis but a scratch...

Firefly Utility room porn, this early on a Saturday? 😂

WreckTangled · 26/03/2022 07:46

That should have said doesn't want breakfast Blush

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 26/03/2022 09:48

Wreck Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sure he'll be ok in a day or 2. I know it's ripping through the local school (again)

Been to Sains and Agros, DH walked round to B&M (but came back disappointed as they didn't have the paint he needs) Ist load in the washer where does it all come from??

NoWordForFluffy · 26/03/2022 10:07

We get a letter every week about one or the other class (or both) having a Covid case. I think it's been worse since the beginning of this year than at any other time. The teacher who's leaving next Friday tested positive this week, so that's her gone now, as she's been sharing the class with the teacher who's taking over, so by the time she may be back, it's not her turn!

We've got our bedroom curtains on the line. They only had the 30 min quick wash, as they're allegedly dry clean only, so we don't use high temp / fast spin. They've lasted 13 years, so clearly don't mind too much! 🤣

My peas sown last weekend are coming through nicely. The broad beans are shifting around, so they're clearly sprouting too! I love watching things grow.

I need to get my chillies going this weekend really. Get them in my heated propagator to move them along!
