Afternoon.

Another mad day at the office my bedroom!. Can't wait to catch up!

The pudding is cooking. Can't smell it, however. It's only had 4 hours so far, mind you! 🤣

Hi from across the pond on my holiday.
Fighting the jet lag and thoroughly enjoying the first day (it's 5:30pm here).
Not moaning about the heat or humidity because I can't believe we've actually managed to get away. I was so worried a flight cancellation or Covid would stop us.

Anyway, I bought a Christmas decoration today and a very sweet American man started talking about Christmas being around earlier and earlier before his wife told him to be quiet and stop ruining my Christmas spirit.
I said not to worry, I know a group of people who would 100% understand and I'd tell them about it later Xmas Grin

ConstantlyCooking · 09/08/2022 23:43

Hello all, hopefully the app will stop glitching and I can stay on the board.
I am starting my Christmas prep with crab apple jelly and will add chutney and Christmas vodka later this week.
Good luck to your daughter Woolly - the autumn term is full on but schools can be great for Christmas atmosphere!
I hope you enjoyed london Fluffy!
Waves to Biddy, 70, crazy and why.
Hello Gossip and Dreaming.

Hi ConstantlyCooking good to 'see' you.

I am ahead of schedule on the Christmas present buying front which is quite scary for me 😀

Have a great time Crazy, keep up the Christmas bauble buying. We appreciate it 😀

My son in law has broken his foot and shattered a toe falling down the stairs. He had chocolate on his desk but decided he wanted an apple. He has come to the conclusion chocolate is safer.

I went to a wedding reception last night and it was lovely. Such a wonderful location.

Openmouthinsertfood · 10/08/2022 18:19

Sorry, scratch that, just found it in another thread!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/08/2022 18:54

My son in law has broken his foot and shattered a toe falling down the stairs.

Ouch , double Ouch poor son in law whydoes

I was wandering idly through the Good Housekeeping food magazine from last year , there's a recipe for a spinach and sweet potatoe pasta dish , looks quite nice . I've got frozen sweet potatoe and some tomatoe/herb sauce in th freezer (I make the sauce for DS pizzas) so I might have a try .

I found a Christmas Tube of fruit pastilles in the pantry (BBE may 2022) , I have survived out-of-date sweets , the sweets survived because they're vegan (so DS didn't want them ) and I've given up chocolate so they were a welcome distraction.
And my 5-a-Day , obvs Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 10/08/2022 19:43

Crazy, have a lovely time! Where are you? I'm trying to work out from the time difference!

CC, London was great - albeit hot! - thank you! The London Passes were brilliant for saving money. I highly recommend them for intense sightseeing.

Enjoy the sweets, 70. We eat OoD stuff all the time. Don't think I'm dead yet. 🤣🤣

Was the wedding local, Why?

I'm seemingly getting nowhere with catching up. People keep wanting to talk to me!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 10/08/2022 20:30

The wedding was about 30-35 minutes away at Hothorpe Hall Fluffy. The roads were very windy and narrow, and we kept meeting tractors and combine harvesters which wasn't ideal.

ConstantlyCooking · 10/08/2022 21:50

70 you have reminded me I have some orange and lemon slices unopened from the gingerbread house!
Nice to be back!

ConstantlyCooking · 11/08/2022 10:12

137 Today I need to pick apples for second lot of crab apple jelly and repot my chillis snd mini- aubergines.

@whydoesitalwayshappentome friend of mine twisted his knee two weeks before his wedding while walking to the kitchen. I asked if he was going to help himself with 10th beer 😂Sorry for your son in law though. My husband once fell off the stairs (because of our cat) and recovery took him months. He was unable to work. It worked out OK for him as he started his own business (while being on low sick pay), but still...

NoWordForFluffy · 11/08/2022 20:32

Evening.

Week from hell is drawing to an end. Thank god! It's been hideous and I'm tired!

DD and I went to the allotment after dinner and watered the plants / harvested stuff. Loads of beans coming now! Plus bloody courgettes! Our diagonally opposite neighbours said they like them; might send DH round! 🤣🤣

Hello hello hello lovelies. Thought I'd pop back and join you (new user name...I used to be lachy)

It's been quite the year here, but we've just come back from our holiday. I bought a Christmas Decoration and thought "I know who will appreciate this!"

Hope you're all keeping well 😊 x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/08/2022 22:02

Ahh helloo MrsArrDee ( I cannot keep up with name changing , I have been 70isaLimit since Adam was a lad and no Christmas or Hallowe'en changes for me , I;m far too old and easily confused Xmas Grin )

A Christmas Decoration brings back memories of a lovely holiday ( I have some from York when we used to go with my parents and the DC were little )

I have pre-ordered some mince pies <Disclaimer : though I can cook pastry , it goes Pete Tong when I try mince pies . Sainsbury Bakery ones are delicious but these look another level Xmas Grin . They don't arrive till Decemner but its ticked off the list )

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 11/08/2022 22:54

DreamingofItaly2023 · 12/08/2022 07:04

Welcome back arrdee!

I am just counting down until Monday when this heatwave ends, so ready for autumn now.

Can't wait for it to end too. I'm so fed up. House is like sauna and I am exhausted. July heatwave was more than enough to me.

xogossipgirlxo · 12/08/2022 11:02

I am dreading Autumn/Winter gas bills though!

ConstantlyCooking · 12/08/2022 14:45

Hello Ardee! Pleased to see so many messages today - I thought my reappearance had killed the thread.

DreamingofItaly2023 · 12/08/2022 17:18

Great to have you back constantly!

I am way too hot daydreaming of December evenings, the dark, the cold, the rain against the windows and the twinkly lights inside.

I love living somewhere with varied seasons but by August I am done with hot and by February I am done with cold 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2022 17:22

Afternoon! Shite week is over. And ended badly, but never mind!

I'm too hot. And need to go shopping yet. Grim!

Hi, ArrDee, good to have you back!

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/08/2022 17:27

Welcome back Constantly and Arrdee

I'm another one counting down the days to the end of the heatwave. I had a wonderful drive (with a/c) to Asda (more a/c) today before lunch and it was very pleasant even in the sunshine too but it was only 28. It's now 33 and I'm beginning to get the hump about needing to cook dinner.

ConstantlyCooking · 12/08/2022 17:35

i foolishly have a saucepan of jam simmering on my hob today. Why???

NoWordForFluffy · 12/08/2022 18:02

There's no words for that, Constantly! 🥵🥵
