Morning all, first night of glamping went well. Off to Southstack lighthouse today.

CrazyBaubles · 26/07/2022 08:53

152 and Belated Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Grin

70 I agree about needing a hand written Christmas planner. My lovely friend bought me a nice one last year but I also have a nice red leather bound notebook which I use to write a sort of diary entry in each year about how Christmas went Xmas Smile

Fluffy what did you get for your parents?

Dreaming your trip sounds lovely.

I am still in Yorkshire and it's... <trying to be diplomatic> interesting
Definitely looking forward to our holiday in a couple of weeks!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2022 08:56

Morning!

Our work system is down, so I've done some offline work, but it's now stopping me from working. Helpful the week before I go off. 🙄

Crazy, sounds like you'll be glad to get home! 🙈

Dreaming, your trip sounds lovely.

I got my dad a jigsaw as he loves doing them and my mum Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles. We're thankfully not a big-spending family!

Crazy I'm just reading on the CF Tourists thread about York , how it has changed , so many Hen&Stag parties now , people behaving atrociously in the street Sad We used to go on holiday just outside York (near Askam Bar) with my DParents and the DC when they were little . It was a gorgeous city , loads of history , lovely shops .
There was a beautiful little shop "Christmas Angels" at the back of a toyshop , that was open all year .
I would love to go back to York but maybe changed my mind now ...

Fluffy the Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles is a lovely book , I dip into it , some recipes I think Oh I'll try that , some are no good for me as I'm vegetarian .

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2022 18:46

70, I have a copy and I think it's the gentle type of read mum will like, even though she won't do the recipes.

I've not been to York for years. Maybe not!

What a stressful morning. Woken by a Labrador barking near my face as DH forgot to shut the bedroom door, then set a toaster on fire while making breakfast.
Thankfully put it out quickly but the kitchen is full of smoke. Bloody thing is full of crumbs I think 😮

Finally starting work now (a little bit late).

70 I've only been to York city twice, both around Christmas time and it was really nice - but I was doing shopping trips rather than anything nightlife related and it was a few years ago now.

We're currently in the countryside roughly an hour away from the city and it's like a different world.

How long were you offline for yesterday Fluffy?

I definitely need to actually read my copy of Nigel Slater this year - I bought a bargain copy because of the thread last year and only read about 5 pages!

NoWordForFluffy · 27/07/2022 20:00

Thankfully not too long, Crazy. At least I had the offline work I could do. Still
frustrating though.

Sounds like a mad morning for you! Hopefully that's all the drama!

Morning!

Work systems are down again. Arrgggghhh.

It rained an indeterminate amount last night. Can't tell how much! Looks damp though.

I need to frame my parents' cross stitch at some point very soon, to take it with me at the weekend. Maybe I'll do that while the system isn't working! 🤷‍♀️

CrazyBaubles · 28/07/2022 09:38

Yesterday didn't get any better Fluffy. Someone was due to come and work at MILs business yesterday but called in sick so I did a days work then had to go and help DH. I was so so tired by the time we came in and sat down at 9:30 🥱

What is going on with your work systems?

I did have a plan to get my very small flowers in a vase cross stitch complete while we're here but so far I haven't had the chance to even get it out of my bag so it may well end up coming on holiday with me.

BiddyPop · 28/07/2022 19:51

I managed to get 10 minutes in the Christmas shop in Amsterdam this afternoon- bought small gifts for 3 family members and 2 small items for our own tree.

Slight failure of the holidays as I have yet to set a stitch on my XSt projects. (And barely opened my book - but have done 14k steps on average all week, and done plenty of worrying about DDog...I've done a separate post on her).

CrazyBaubles · 29/07/2022 08:57

149 - countdown is flying now, we'll be under 100 before we know it!

I think I'm a complete liability up here and need to go home. I dropped a razor this morning and instead of letting it fall, I instinctively caught it and the blade sliced straight through my finger.
It's bandaged up and throbbing now 😩

I saw your thread about ddog biddy - how is she now?

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2022 09:20

Bloody hell, Crazy. I'd give up if I were you! Touch nothing. 🙈🤣

Sorry your Ddog isn't well, Biddy (I've not read your thread).

Busy day here. Last day before A/L. Sigh!

OP posts:
BiddyPop · 29/07/2022 14:21

Thanks for asking, DDog is much better, bouncing around making new doggy friends on the green outside the minders' house. And also letting minder do things/lay down rules she doesn't accept in our house! Like blow dry her after a much needed bath, taking her tablets nicely from minder (not ignoring them unless crushed up as DH has to do), not begging for food when they eat...
She needs a new diet (tinned not dry food, more veggies etc) and meds, but manageable.

BiddyPop · 29/07/2022 14:21

I hope your finger is doing ok and stopped throbbing Crazy, that does sound like a day to just quit while you're already behind!

DreamingofItaly2023 · 30/07/2022 07:01

Glad DDog is feeling better biddy! Hope your finger feels better soon crazy.

we got back from glamping yesterday and today we are off to stay with DH’s grandparents for one night, am absolutely exhausted. Can’t wait for Monday when DS and I are having a lazy day!

I have ordered the Filofax Christmas planner insert so excited for that to arrive.

hope everyone has a good weekend.

Morning!

It's rained again overnight / this morning, and is forecast to do so for most of the day. Time will tell!

We're preparing to travel tomorrow as we're going south to see Why and my parents, then continuing on for 3 nights in London.

I made a mistake with my bookings (thought I'd bought a 3 day London Pass, not 2, so need to jiggle stuff round, if possible). Need to call the Shard at 9 to move that booking. Then I'll pay for the Tower Bridge experience for the Monday instead. It's like planning a military mission!

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/07/2022 09:52

Morning folks.

Had a crazily busy shift at work yesterday where we were short staffed and I ended up with no break. I feel like I have been flattened by a bus and my back hurts. Thankfully off for a few days now mind you.

Looking forward to seeing you Fluffy. I don't envy you the military planning mind you.

CrazyBaubles · 30/07/2022 10:31

Very rainy grey morning up here.

Glad your Ddog is feeling better Biddy.
We're looking after MILs dogs and they're a million times better behaved for us than they are for her so I'm not surprised yours is being great for your dog minder.

Thanks dreaming. Sounds like you're having a busy but fun start to the summer holidays.

You have a fun few days coming up too Fluffy.
Have you been to the Shard before? I really want to go but haven't managed it yet.

Sounds exhausting why - do you have anything except rest and seeing Fluffy planned for your days off?

My finger is very tender - I unwrapped it to put fresh gauze / plaster on this morning and it looks a bit gross.

My plans for today is to help out at MILs business here and there, go to Sainsburys (which is miles and miles away) and cross stitch (if possible with the stupid finger).

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 30/07/2022 10:35

Crazy I haven't got a great deal planned but will be seeing a friend one day. Hope your finger gets better soon. Sometimes the moisture under a covering can make it look worse.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/07/2022 17:43

Have a lovely visit with why Fluffy and a great time in London.

I'm definitely starting to feel festive. DD2 is my Christmas padawan and she has been getting excited too. She starts her first teaching job in September and has asked me to make her a nativity wreath for her classroom so I think that's next on the agenda after doing some squares for the latest WH project.

(Insert snooker-related joke here.)

Well, I'm finally on MN, after site issues since last night.

It chucked it down overnight; finally some proper rain.

We're on the way down south and have found a new NT place to visit in the way called Sudbury. Hopefully it'll be good fun!

CrazyBaubles · 31/07/2022 12:30

Afternoon! Anyone know what happened to mn this morning?

Hope you have a lovely trip Fluffy

It's been raining all morning and looks very wintery up here but it's strangely warm 🙄

I'm airing out my bad finger and doing some initial nosing online for potential Christmas present ideas Xmas Smile

CrazyBaubles · 01/08/2022 09:18

146 Morning. Bright and sunny up here today, not that I get to see much of it while working in the office!
