Morning all, a bad night for me as at midnight a loud, incredibly high pitched sound started somewhere in the village. It went off after a few minutes but had thoroughly woken me up.

my chillies are just starting to appear, the hot weather also did them good. Going to harvest my potatoes and onions this week. Haven’t grown much this year as still settling into new garden. In the autumn am going to start turning the back half into a kitchen garden.

poor DS is poorly at the start of his summer holidays so quiet days in for us at the moment. Keeping everything crossed he is well by the time we go on holiday on Monday.

i am now in the part of the year when my mind keeps going to Christmas, pretty sure I know what I am getting DS this year. Will start actually buying in September.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/07/2022 08:54

I just have mine in 6 inch plastic pots, Crazy! They seem to do ok. And I feed them with either seaweed or tomato feed weekly. And that's about it!

Mine are getting big quickly, so I'm optimistic.

Oh, they don't like going to bed with wet soil; always water in the morning if you can. I don't always, but there you go!

CrazyBaubles · 21/07/2022 11:53

Oh dear Fluffy, I may be starving mine as I've only fed them twice I think <oops>
I tend to water from the bottom them sort of sprinkle some on top but I do it in the morning - I have to otherwise I'd forget.

dreaming I hope your ds is feeling better soon and you enjoy your holiday.

What are the kitchen garden plans? I'm intrigued.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/07/2022 17:40

When they're fruiting they definitely need feeding regularly. I've been using home-brewed nettle feed at the allotment and it's working wonders!

Slides onto thread:

QVC have done weirdy things with their Christmas in July (which back in the day used to be on 25th July)
They have some random hours across Fri/Sat/Sun

But nought on the 25th Xmas Hmm

Morning!

We have rain forecast. Whoop whoop! It had better arrive. <taps foot>

In less-good news, the temp while we're in London is going to be unpleasant for getting about! 🥵🥵🥵Hopefully it changes before we go!

70, that's odd re QVC. Wonder what they're up to / their logic is? 🤔

DreamingofItaly2023 · 22/07/2022 08:59

The rain has arrived!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2022 13:51

It's not heavy here. I'm disappointed!

It's just chucked it down. I got back from Sainsbury's just in time!

Evening. I may be a bit tiddly Blush I've been at a rooftop bar with my department since 12 and may have enjoyed the drinks more than I should have.
Home now watching Grace & Frankie (my new favourite show) and trying to pull myself together to sort out the giant pile of clean clothes upstairs.

Hands a paracetamol and water to Crazy

(There was a thread something like OMG , I've seriously disgraced myself at work night out , I checked to see if you'd posted it , but it was weeks old Xmas Grin so hopefully you didn't throw up in an ice-bucket )

We had a splodge of rain last night , those big showey raindrops .
The cats sat defiantly under the patio table .
"We won;t dissolve , we're fierce "

NoWordForFluffy · 23/07/2022 12:47

Afternoon!

I'm just back from the allotment where I've done loads of weeding. My leeks are in the ground (though some are so spindly, I'm sure they won't make it!).

I had to train the runner beans up the poles, as they're not very good at it. 🤷‍♀️🤣

We've had slightly more rain this morning. Nothing much in the scheme of things though.

I need to make DS' birthday cake in a bit. Something I could do without! 🙈

CrazyBaubles · 23/07/2022 16:07

Thank you 70! That poster wasn't me thank god! I had the good sense to get myself home when I realised I'd danced to a few songs and was well on my way.
Can't be doing with being drunk (and possibly losing all diplomacy) at a work do!

We are currently at a services around 90 mins away from MILs house (Yorkshire way) where we'll be visiting for the next week.

I potted up my peppers just before I left so hopefully they'll grow a bit - they were in the small 'beginner' pots still and their roots were starting to come out of the bottom.

What cake are you making Fluffy?

DreamingofItaly2023 · 23/07/2022 17:25

DS all better thanks crazy :)

had some decent rain here again today so hopefully the garden is feeling better.

Morning!

Today is DS' birthday, so we'll be focused on him. 😍

Crazy, it's just a sponge cake, but decorated as a creeper (Minecraft). I didn't finish it yesterday as the cake went a bit odd, so wouldn't have been cool enough to do last night. Plus I was tired, and decorating a cake whilst tired is a bad idea! 🤣

Dreaming, I'm glad DS is well now; must be a relief!

It sounds like you had a good time, Crazy! Your peppers should love the extra room. My chillies weren't even pot-bound and they're enjoying the bigger pots!

Last year, about this time, someone posted a succinct, articulate little paragraph to share with relatives that you wanted to cut down on gift giving with. By any chance does anyone know who posted it, or where, to help narrow down my searching? I have the guts to use it this year...!!

NoWordForFluffy · 24/07/2022 09:56

I remember that, Crackery. I think it was either the 'have you started yet' or 'how much do you spend' thread. Have you checked this year's, as I've a feeling they may have posted it again this year (or similar). Potentially in the 'are you worried about the cost?' thread.

Happy Belated Birthday DSFluffy

And Happy Rudolph Day Xmas Grin

this years Christmas Filofax insert

Oooh you a a person after my own heart there Italy .
None of this spreadsheet on my phone malarky Xmas Grin
I use a new A4 spiralbound notepad, write "Christmas +Year" on the front then write any random ideas at the front , food lists at the back , plans, presenents etc in the middle . Year out the pages as I've put the notes in better order .
It is cathartic to have a bit of organisation , even though I get the Xmas Hmm face from everyone else ..

Enjoy your glamping Grin

DreamingofItaly2023 · 25/07/2022 08:05

Yes belated birthday to fluffy’s DS!

DreamloverTealover · 25/07/2022 09:19

I've no idea what prompted me to look at this thread but @DreamingofItaly2023 where do you get your Christmas Filofax inserts from? I had no idea these existed! Thanks 🎅

BiddyPop · 25/07/2022 09:42

DreamloverTealover · 25/07/2022 19:16

<Runs in before midnight!>

Evening!

Busy day today as I'm off work next week. So chaos, as usual. Sigh!

Extra hours will be worked, I foresee.

I didn't buy anything Christmassy today, but did get my parents' presents yesterday. So that's something.
