Afternoon!

We're on the way to London now, after seeing my parents this morning.

It's too hot in the car and the children are being annoying. Sigh.

It is August which means that I am officially over summer. Unfortunately the weather hasn’t got the memo and is warm and sunny 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 01/08/2022 22:30

It's bastard boiling in London! The tube is properly grim. 🥵🥵🥵

Eurgh hot tube fluffy :(

the weather has got the memo here, tipping it down :) Going to take DS swimming later on the bus.

xogossipgirlxo · 02/08/2022 10:38

Morning. Can I join the thread? I've been secret reader for a while.

How's the weather where you live? It's proper shit in Yorkshire 😂I am thinking of ordering some puzzles for those long evenings that will approach very soon, but how do I cope with two cats? I can't live puzzles on the table overnight and we don't have any room they aren't allowed to go in. Only my husband's office, but there's no place for puzzles.

xogossipgirlxo · 02/08/2022 10:39

TheWoollybacksWife · 02/08/2022 12:06

@xogossipgirlxo

What about one of these - you do the puzzle on the centre section and the two flaps close over the top to stop anything touching it. The fabric lining means that the pieces are held in place and you can move the board from place to place without anything dropping out.

Not as hot today, in the main. Thankfully.

Early dinner now then we're going up the Shard.

The kids are irritating. Send help. Or vodka.

Welcome gossipgirl, I have largely given up jigsaws due to my cats but Woolly’s suggestion sounds good.

my Christmas planner has arrived. Unfortunately I am too exhausted to start my planning today. Had great fun with DS today but very tiring. Also tripped on some rocks in a river and almost ended up in the river Grin

semding much alcohol fluffy Gin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/08/2022 20:46

Bit muggy here , needs to water the plants before the cats come in.

Not thinking about any Christmas Planning but I might whip up a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies , mainly so DS thinks What are you up to Mother , making nice cookies as a bribe <sideways glance>

Morning.

I've been awake forever. Everyone else is asleep though. The kids are quite tired now, but today is our last full day, so they'll be OK and hopefully sleep for most of the journey home tomorrow!

It's a zoo trip today. Then the NHM. We're going to watch Tower Bridge lift later too. DS really wants to see that.

CrazyBaubles · 03/08/2022 12:10

Very sunny and warm up here so I'm taking lots of little walks around the place in between meetings etc.

Had a lovely in person meet up for lunch with Firefly yesterday. Must confess we were chatting so much we almost left without paying Blush

Is it London Zoo that's making a point about crocodile hunting Fluffy?

BiddyPop · 03/08/2022 12:32

Afternoon all, hot and muggy here too. And pollen count is high so I am sneezing badly, on top of the lack of sleep from heat/stuffiness. I LOVE the NHM, and our own "Dead Zoo" is reopening this week after major renovations (I used to wander around it on lunchbreaks when I was based in this building many years ago so may do that soon again). I find museum shops can be surprisingly interesting for small items for stockings or unusual items for tricky people...if you are thinking ahead like that.

I have been so mentally busy with work that I haven't had the brain capacity to do planning or even easy sewing recently, so I need to get back to doing a few things. Currently working on clearing out "hotspots" that developed in the past few months (ahem, maybe couple of years...Blush) so I can see what's there and what's not, and also find space to work on things when I have time.

@TheWoollybacksWife thank you 🌺I could leave something like this on my desk. I'm sure cat bums will sit on it, but they won't play with puzzle pieces 😂

VeganGordie · 03/08/2022 15:56

I do love summer/spring but i also cant wait for Christmas to come round, think it'll come round very soon!

DreamingofItaly2023 · 03/08/2022 16:10

IME Vegan once the kids are back at school time speeds up considerably and Christmas feels very close.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/08/2022 20:54

I used to start the Christmas Planning when the Lakeland Christmas Catalogue came through the door and I saw (and heard) geese flying in formation.
Costco get their Christmas stock in about early /mid Sept

Then it;s On your marks , get set, GO Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 03/08/2022 20:59

The geese will be soon enough, 70. We live near wetlands and the skies are a goose motorway in autumn / winter!

Do you have any quiet times coming up Biddy?
I can't do any sewing either thanks to my stupid cut finger.

Christmas planning starts properly here when we're home from summer holiday and the August birthdays are out of the way (all 8 of them 😳).
When DH gets out of my hair and goes back to school in September I begin making lists etc although he thinks I start planning halfway through October when I get my bonus as that's when I start buying things Xmas Grin

DreamingofItaly2023 · 04/08/2022 08:22

Morning all, am in charge of 4 boys under 8 today so send help Grin

I started planning DS’ gifts last night, very simple as a switch will be his main gift and then just stocking stuff.

BiddyPop · 04/08/2022 10:14

August is officially the quiet time here Crazy, which means that I can do the thinking and planning needed rather than reacting at lightening speed...not that it is actually quiet. But I am making some progress through work lists. And I decluttered another spot last night and, as it was quiet at home (DD gone back to training already) but nothing on tv, I finished off 1 XSt and started my 2nd last one (a petrol pump).

Mental help of thoughts of peace and calm winging their way to you Dreaming, good luck!

Happy birthday, @CrazyBaubles! 🎉 🎂

We're on the way home from London after going to see Big Ben, Downing St, SeaLife and Dangermouse's post box this morning.

We're all knackered and have mounds of washing to do!

We're avoiding the smart section of the M1 so have an interesting trip until we can get back on it! 🤣

FireflyGirl · 04/08/2022 16:05
