How much does everyone still have left to do?

Our to-do list is getting smaller, last bits of food shopping, present dropped to someone, clean the house, DH is taking our 3 DD’s into town Christmas shopping on the 23rd and I will finish off the final bit of wrapping that were late deliveries or twitches!!! 🤣

My plan is to have absolutely everything done by Christmas Eve so we can properly enjoy and if that works out it will be the 1st year ever!!

What’s everyone else still to do?

Complete chaos here, I had to be admitted to hospital as an emergency. Got let out yesterday.
Wrote hubby a list, he went shopping and came home without anything much as there was nothing left on the shelves.
I burst into tears as I've been looking forward to Christmas and seeing everyone so much.
So it's going to be interesting.
Fortuneately the guests are family and going to bring a few things with them.
Still looking forward to no food or drink isn't great.

santabetterwashhishands · 23/12/2021 16:18

Just need to Hoover my house and purchase some stuffing and a present for the dog then I'm all set 😜

desperatehousewife21 · 23/12/2021 16:22

I cleaned the kitchen today, and cleaned out the Guinea pigs (they live indoors).

Tomorrows jobs: hoover whole house and change three beds. Put washing away. Spray the leather sofa with the spray cleaner, the rabbit did a wee on it Xmas Hmm and general clutter clean up.

desperatehousewife21 · 23/12/2021 16:39

Oh and also some self beautification Xmas Grin paint nails/ wash hair/ shave

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 23/12/2021 17:49

Today I did the Last Shop and the Big Clean, organised all the stocking fillers so have now finished wrapping. Tomorrow morning I'll clean the spare room and ensuite for guests and chamfe the sheets and that should be it. Over to DH who does the cooking.

dementedma · 23/12/2021 17:49

Nothing. All done

IncompleteSenten · 23/12/2021 17:51

All I have left to do is eat, drink and be merry. 😁

PermanentTemporary · 23/12/2021 18:06

Still loads... but I just bought a tablecloth so that helps. I need to move a load of stuff off the desk so it can be a sideboard, process some laundry and generally reduce the hoarder's house look before Saturday. And clear out the car of my Mum's stuff so that I can put my mum into it. Oh and drop off the last community support hamper to someone the social worker gave us the wrong phone number for.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/12/2021 18:11

wrap up

HolesInMySocks · 23/12/2021 18:16

Nothing :)

mam0918 · 23/12/2021 18:48

Just drop gifts off to people and tidying up

I say 'tidying' I mean trying to find a place to put current toys so there is space for new toys without toddler having a breakdown. obviously, he can't find the stuffed cat he got 2.5 years ago that he hasn't looked at in months but suddenly needs RIGHT now and you can't remember where you relocated it lol.

I should be tidying now... I can't face it right now though, there's just so much lol

nancybotwinbloom · 23/12/2021 20:12

We are at my parents for Xmas so tomorrow night we just need to cook some beef and ham and I need to make the starters and apple rose cakes.

Tumbleweed101 · 23/12/2021 20:18

Finished work tonight. Got to clean and sort house tomorrow as I'm hosting and wrap the final gifts. Food shops are done so not much to do really.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 23/12/2021 20:21

I’m working until 3 tomorrow but DH & the DC have a list as PIL arriving about lunchtime.

  • Hoover spare room and make bed, and keep cats out of it as MIL struggles with her asthma and cat fur.
  • hoover front room as fake tree has shed loads of needles.
  • tidy up empty decoration boxes & bags around tree (we only put it up today as building works only allowed us space today).
  • some laundry done.
  • Dd needs to drop off neighbours kids presents and cards.
  • I need Dds last present to arrive and wrap it.
  • I would like to find the IOU sheet I printed out for Ds2 game tokens but not essential as can just tell him, he’s autistic and not bothered by presents anyway.
  • Last work shift before Christmas then come home and open the 🥂😂

Think we’re done with food shopping, do need to take out turkey crown and check timings of frozen chocolate pudding from Lidl.

Natsku · 23/12/2021 20:24

Everything is done now. Tomorrow is the big day for us so some of the presents are under the tree, the rest waiting to go in the sack for Joulupukki to deliver, unexpectedly big dressing up rail and hat stand are built and I'm going to chuck a bedsheet over them in lieu of wrapping paper. Amazingly everything came in my food order, nothing missing or substituted so no need for last minute shop trip tomorrow. Now all I have to do is fill the elf hats (instead of stockings, though why on earth I decided hats with bells on would make a good alternative to stockings, I don't know) and sneak them onto the children's beds. My mish-mash of Christmas traditions means I've ended up saying the elves bring the stocking gifts, family bring the tree gifts, and Joulupukki delivers the last gifts later on.

  • Pray to all the goddesses, gods, and anyone else that the dodgy wiring fix we've done on the fridge continues to work...
  • Make mashed celeriac
  • Decorate front window for our village Advent Calendar as we are day 24!
  • Wrap all DPs pressies....
  • Make trifle
  • Prep veg while listening to Carols

Actually feeling a lot calmer now I've written that down!

LBOCS2 · 23/12/2021 21:33

Finished work this evening so in the next 24 hours I need to:

  • finish the wrapping
  • change the beds
  • clean for baby Jesus
  • get something last minute for Mr LBCOS as his pile is alarmingly small
  • source some blinis
dementedma · 23/12/2021 21:45

Not hosting on either Christmas Eve or Christmas day. My goodness, what a difference that makes. No big food shop, no faffing with buffet stuff, no stress. For the first time in years am totally chilled and looking forward to next couple of days

Chanel05 · 23/12/2021 22:01

Had 7 presents left to wrap, having done the rest last week. Took me about an hour to do them all.

I cleaned the whole house today which took longer than usual since I have a busy toddler!

I had a mountain of washing - literally 10 loads worth - to put away and that took ages!

Tomorrow is an isolation day but a day playing with my dd.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 23/12/2021 22:09

I have to dress the buffet table and make the food for the buffet. Then its just changing to Christmas bedding. I was meant to pick up two stocking fillers, but parking in my street is a nightmare so I'm leaving them until after Christmas. if its not done now, its not going to be done!

DiamondBright · 23/12/2021 23:10

@DiamondBright

Still haven't cleaned the kitchen, but I have finished work, the fridge must be done tonight, the rest might have to wait till tomorrow. Definitely a take away for dinner tonight.
I finally cleaned the fridge, just the floor to do tomorrow now, the whole house needs sweeping/vacuuming anyway before my mother descends.

Slightly concerned about the rate the gammon is defrosting, the turkey is also still very frozen but it doesn't need to go into brine until bedtime tomorrow, so not so worried about that, the gammon however I want to cook tomorrow afternoon, it may need to go into some cold water in the morning if it's not made some progress.

TheOrigRights · 24/12/2021 00:31

Click and collect has been collected.
All presents will be wrapped tomorrow.
I only need to do for my two sons in prep for 25th because plans have been shelved due to corona boy.

Oh, and my friend up the road. I will wrap hers and her son's and cycle up the road to deliver them from a distance (I don't need to self isolate but I'm being cautious).

PinkSyCo · 24/12/2021 07:42

Quick question: Why do houses suddenly need deep cleansing, cookers scrubbing, gardens tidying and cars cleaning just before Christmas? Those are the sort of tasks I make sure I don’t have to do in the couple of days leading up to Christmas so that I can concentrate on doing…..well things to do for Christmas.

PinkSyCo · 24/12/2021 07:46

As for me all I need to do to is prep the veg tonight with a glass (bottle) or 2 of vino and I’m all done. Xmas Smile

Bunnycat101 · 24/12/2021 08:00

I have everything still to do. Did a massive clean up yesterday but house still feels messy. Haven’t wrapped a single present yet. Basically will be up until silly o clock but this year I have no toys to build so feeling positive about that at least.
