How much does everyone still have left to do?

Our to-do list is getting smaller, last bits of food shopping, present dropped to someone, clean the house, DH is taking our 3 DD’s into town Christmas shopping on the 23rd and I will finish off the final bit of wrapping that were late deliveries or twitches!!! 🤣

My plan is to have absolutely everything done by Christmas Eve so we can properly enjoy and if that works out it will be the 1st year ever!!

What’s everyone else still to do?

I don't see the point of doing a big clean before Christmas (unless your house is a real tip Grin) ... I will wait until after Christmas!

I've got to make up two spare beds ... quick hoover ... wrap a couple of gifts ... last minute food shop tomorrow- I've got most things in but need to get the fresh stuff (I don't shop online). Make brandy butter, bread sauce & trifle. Day off tomorrow to finish all that and then at work Christmas Eve - finish around 4pm. Quiet evening to myself whilst DH collects DS. (Will prep veg). Other guests arrive Christmas Day.

Last shift at work today, back in on 27th.
Order to pick up at Dunelm
Waiting for order to arrive for 1 gift as Dh messed up in the spelling of his best friends surname
Need to buy rechargeable batteries
Wrap up Dh, adult Dd and dg presents
Pick up m&s food order (thurs)
Buy rest of food shopping
Light house work (hoover, ironing) Dh and I were both of yesterday and did a deep clean of bathroom, kitchen and stairs.
Perhaps get nails/eyebrows done if I can be bothered.
May pop to town christmas eve early morning, it's usually quiet, just for a browse for me.

@Taytocrisps

Buy fresh foods - veg, milk, meat, bread

Buy one last present and one gift card

Buy stamps and post last few Christmas cards (all written)

Wrap three presents

Make up spare bed for guest

Change my own bedding

Last minute tidy up/hoover

Hoping to get it all done today and tomorrow (around work). Then I just have to buy fresh bread on Christmas Eve morning and the rest of the day is for relaxing. Going for lunch on Christmas Eve so no cooking.

I made a lunchtime dash to the post office yesterday ( it was the official last day for first class) I wasn't going to send cards this year (except immediate family) but decided I needed to send to some older relatives.

I’m about to go to collect my M&S food order and pick up some gift tags. Tesco delivery tomorrow but there’s nothing crucial in there, just stuff for between Christmas and NY. DH actually seems to enjoy going out to get forgotten bits on Christmas Eve, so he can get anything I haven’t got. I think he’s mad but he enjoys it.

Peanut82 · 22/12/2021 07:23

Still got a few presents to wrap. Need to clean the house and change the beds, that will be done today.
DP is working until tomorrow and I'm working Christmas Day so today is my day to get everything finished, gonna have another coffee first though

I think it's just nice to finish work for Christmas to a nice clean tidy house.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 22/12/2021 07:25

wrapping,
food delivery tomorrow
so last minute food shopping in between
tidy house
decorate tree

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2021 07:30

I'm collecting my Booths, Sainsbury's and cheese shop orders on Christmas Eve, plus the kids want to choose a massive carrot for Rudolph, so we'll go to the greengrocer in the village for that while we're getting the cheese / Sainsbury's orders.

I need to change the wrapping on one of DS' presents, as it's now from us, not Santa.

DH and the kids need to tidy the dining room today. I will lose my shit if DH fails to do this one thing today, as I keep telling him it's his job and he has to do it.

I still have the utility room to deep clean, but if it doesn't get done I won't lose sleep over it.

Non-Christmas wise, it's DH's birthday tomorrow, so I've his cake to make. I might head out to see if I can find dairy free cream cheese for the frosting later on. Or I might just do buttercream. I haven't decided yet.

DiamondBright · 22/12/2021 07:32

Just had notification a parcel is being delivered this morning, it's either my present from my mother or the last present for DD I'm waiting for it's coming from Ascendia via DPD so it may be DD's present and it's been shipped directly from the US rather than been shipped to the supplier here and then onto me, I wanted to give it to her Christmas Eve as it's festive so fingers crossed.

  1. I deep clean twice a year, once mid-way and once at Christmas.
  1. My time off work is before, not after, Christmas, so that's when I have time to do it.
sueelleker · 22/12/2021 07:33

Take the meat out of the freezer, make some elisen lebkuchen, and a chocolate ganache for the spiced chocolate cake I made yesterday.

CurlsandCurves · 22/12/2021 07:36

I’m working half days till Friday. So around that I need to:

Wash towels
Clean bathrooms and upstairs
Ironing if I’ve got time
Collect meat from butchers
‘Last few bits’ food shop, from local small shop, no big supermarket required (hopefully!)

Then before work on Christmas Eve I will quickly whizz around downstairs, Hoover, sweep and mop floors. And then I’m ready!

TerrifiedandWorried · 22/12/2021 07:39

Buy tree
Decorate tree
Buy turkey
Wrap presents
Make crackers (have kits)
Finish buying presents
Big clean

parrotonthesofa · 22/12/2021 07:42

Everything!!!
We were supposed to be coming to uk from France to stay with family but they cancelled our flight yesterday for the second time which was the final nail in the coffin.
So I literally have nothing. All the presents are in England too. Gonna try and re buy the kids presents today. It's a nightmare!

alwayswrighty · 22/12/2021 07:46

I'm working today and tomorrow and having booster tomorrow night.Need to clean the house, was going to do it Friday but worried I'll feel rough. Also got to decorate the chocolate yule log I've made for pudding.

AperolWhore · 22/12/2021 07:46

Absolutely nothing in this household and yes I am smug haha

All the presents are wrapped and organised, the house has been deep cleaned, the Christmas outfits are ironed and hung up and the food shop got delivered at 7am this morning without any missing items or substitutions so we are done 🙌🏻

Squirrelblanket · 22/12/2021 07:48

Change the beds, clean the bathroom, find the Christmas tablecloth and iron it. I think that's it. 🤔

ItsSnowJokes · 22/12/2021 07:51

I have every single present to wrap. House to clean and some last minute food bits that didn't arrive in my online shop this morning. I need to make a start instead of being on MN Grin

Musidora · 22/12/2021 07:56

I need to:

Finish work today
Post one last Christmas card
Buy some chocolate for a stocking
Find the stockings!
Buy potatoes, sprouts, carrots, parsnips, bread, milk
Bake gingerbread
Quick house clean
Plan my cooking timetable for Christmas Day

OldTinHat · 22/12/2021 08:05

I'm having food shop delivered today, have vacuuming and floors to mop then deep clean my bedroom for guests who are coming to stay on Friday and then that is it!

cloudtree · 22/12/2021 08:07

Everything

elizabethdraper · 22/12/2021 08:08

I had everything done by Saturday
I am just drinking baileys, eating mince pie ls a and watching shite telly

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 22/12/2021 08:17

I need to make a start instead of being on MN

This made me laugh. Thanks for giving me the kick up the arse I need to crack on... I'll get right to it... In just a minute...

DollyPartBaked · 22/12/2021 08:32

Unfortunately my house is a real tip so we do need to clean! Although probably tidying will take most of the time.

Presents are wrapped except for one stocking filler expecting today.

Annoyingly I finished the online shop order last night and this morning I have of course realised we need at least 5 or 6 extra things I forgot.

  • clean / tidy whole house
  • collect from butchers
  • pick up extra bits from shop
  • check baby's outfit fits - it's a hand me down from our toddler but I've been assuming my much larger baby will squeeze into it!
DiamondBright · 22/12/2021 08:38

Some of these lists are making me anxious.

I'm mostly concerned about getting what I need to do done at work before I finish tomorrow, the rest is mostly to do on Christmas Eve and I've got all day.
