How much does everyone still have left to do?

Our to-do list is getting smaller, last bits of food shopping, present dropped to someone, clean the house, DH is taking our 3 DD’s into town Christmas shopping on the 23rd and I will finish off the final bit of wrapping that were late deliveries or twitches!!! 🤣

My plan is to have absolutely everything done by Christmas Eve so we can properly enjoy and if that works out it will be the 1st year ever!!

What’s everyone else still to do?

Wrap presents

Last few bits of groceries, but not much - fruit, cream, some back-up foil

Quick tidy up (deep cleaned at the weekend, so nothing major)

bexxboo · 22/12/2021 09:50

Sweet Jesus, you all need to calm down.

AshLane · 22/12/2021 09:55

@Littlewhiteballs

Allllllll the wrapping! 🤦‍♀️ But other than that it's mostly done. Poor dd tested positive so we haven't been able to go out and do any of the things we had planned. I'm dreading being really sick on Christmas day as it's just me and the dc so they won't get a Christmas if I'm laid up in bed. Wish me luck! 🤞
@Littlewhiteballs

Don't worry!

This happened to me one year, just me and two DC's. One of them not so well either.

DC's wrote a letter to Santa to ask if he could come a day later! ( or two if needed)
Worked a treat, we didn't have to do the 'try your best when ill' half hearted Christmas Day and enjoyed it when we felt better.

DC's thought we were extra special because Santa had had to make a special journey just for us as we were the only family celebrating Christmas Day on the 26th.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 22/12/2021 10:00

Oh, just remembered I have baking to do. But I don't really count that as a job, hence forgetting before! Xmas Smile

MyCatHatesPCRTests · 22/12/2021 10:00

Oh @parrotonthesofa, what a nightmare! Really feel for you, a close friend has had her Christmas plans derailed by the travel restrictions.

DC2 has Covid so we are now at home. Fortunately my amazing DPs did a 5 hour round trip to bring back the DCs’ presents that had been sent there in advance. We now have Christmas food so we are pretty much all done (the rest of us were negative on PCRs and negative on daily LFTs but trying to only go out for walks with DC1 rather than to shops/anywhere crowded, as he will go stir crazy otherwise).

I still have some wrapping to do. Need to make cranberry sauce, Yule log (that will wait until Christmas Eve and DC1 will “help”), and would like to clean the bathroom and hoover the house. Dusting would be nice but may not happen.

MammaGnomes · 22/12/2021 10:13

Finished work last night and wrapped most of dd presents just a few last min ones I'm waiting on and her stocking to do.

Going into Manchester today to get last couple of family gifts. Could probably stay more local but want a Christmassy day out

Xmas nails, house clean and last bits of wrapping tomorrow and then I'm done. Hoping to have everything done by Xmas Eve which will be a first Xmas Smile

AfterEightMintyCedric · 22/12/2021 10:23

Today is the last push...cake decorating, local cards to write and deliver, wrapping and a good tidy up.

Tomorrow, veg prep and working out timings. Dressing table.

We're not hosting this year (I'm cooking but at my mums who lives round the corner) so don't have to be too pedantic about our house.

TheCreamCaker · 22/12/2021 11:32

I've yet to do ALL the food shopping, plus stuff like soap powder, toilet rolls, etc. I haven't bought so much as a bag of potatoes towards dinner! I'll probably go to Tesco at some ridiculous hour of the night/early morning.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 22/12/2021 12:03

Meh. I CBA to bake. Lidl does that for me.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 22/12/2021 12:05

Going to tesco at 3am is an experience. I sent DH there after having our first baby as I was shit at breastfeeding. He came home with all the bottles, all the teats, all the milks and tales of some very strange characters 🤔😳😆 If I can't sleep tonight I might pop in just for entertainment

DiamondBright · 22/12/2021 12:28

I've been scaling things back, haven't been well for various reasons, I pushed hair and nails back to next week so they're done for NYE if we're allowed out but it gave me more time this week. I may live to regret that decision.

RestingStitchFace · 22/12/2021 12:58

Wrap a few presents
Pack for trip to in-laws
Sort out the food order for when we get back.
Housework Sit on sofa, eating Pringles and watching Elf.

rose69 · 22/12/2021 13:06

I've done nothing. Tree waiting to be put up and hopefully there are some pigs in blankets left at the supermarkets.

TuftyMarmoset · 22/12/2021 13:12

Wrap all the presents
Clean & tidy the house
Buy the last few items of food which were forgotten/substituted
Do Christmas baking
Prep veg
Run the dishwasher at least 800 times 😆

Inextremis · 22/12/2021 13:19

Defrost the ham, turkey (small one), cocktail sausages and streaky rashers for the pigs in blankets/turkey breast.
Make stuffing.
Wrap everything in sight.
Make mince pies.
Make more gougeres 'cos the first batch all vanished last night under mysterious circumstances (ie, I took my eyes off them for 5 mins).
Put the 2021 decoration on the tree.

Tomorrow, spend the day making nibbles for the evening, when a whole 2 friends (3 households mixing) are coming round for 'canapés and cocktails' - a posh way of saying some drinks and nosh.

Nidan2Sandan · 22/12/2021 13:27

I'm working till tomorrow, and have a court case at 3PM so I can kiss goodbye to my hoped for early finish.

DH is off work so has been cleaning like a mad man already.

So will be first day off xmas eve, off for a walk and a cafe visit with my best friend and the kids. I think DH is off to the gym. Then home for an xmas movie and snacks before bathing the kids and heading off for an early night before the next days madness sets in .

BatshitCrazyWoman · 22/12/2021 13:52

I'm still working! Will whisk around and clean on Christmas Eve morning. I do a bit each day so it's never dreadful.

That's it!

MrsMigginsEggNogShoppe · 22/12/2021 14:10

Pick up the turkey from the butcher and fresh bread from the baker on Xmas Eve, make the Bailey's trifle and cranberry sauce, quick hoover and tidy up, give everyone clean towels and that's it. Shall be spending the rest of Xmas Eve in a fog of nibbles, wine and festive TV!

WildStallyn · 22/12/2021 14:18

We go away to the in laws tomorrow so today is our last day to get sorted. Then we can put our feet up for a few days apart from mucking in with cooking and washing up etc!

I'm just finish packing. I need to nip out for some wrapping paper as I've just run out, and wrap the last 2 presents. And if I can be bothered I could do with cleaning the floors and things so it's nice for when we get back.

DH is packing his own stuff, loading the car, cooking dinner and washing the DCs hair.

So not too much to do for once!

desperatehousewife21 · 22/12/2021 14:22

The Big Food Shop Xmas Grin went to sainsbos yesterday afternoon for a few bits expecting it to be manic and was no different to an average Saturday.

Going early doors to Lidl tomorrow morning to get everything else. Praying they have all I need in stock otherwise will be another trip to sainsbos.

Firstshoes · 22/12/2021 14:28

Did my big food shop today at Aldi. I was dreading it. It was very, very quiet. The shelves were well stocked and I got everything on my list. It was strange but wonderful Xmas Smile

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 22/12/2021 14:37

Not much left to do at all.

Today: Put the final bits in the trolley for tomorrow nights Tesco collection.
Wrap stocking presents.

Tomorrow: usual housework & washing
Wrap dh's presents

Friday: change our bed
Prep food to Christmas lunch.

TheOrigRights · 22/12/2021 14:39

DS1 just tested +ve. ☹️

RainbowZebraWarrior · 22/12/2021 14:41

Have physio rehab in 2 hrs
Food shop delivery tonight.
(Will happily tip driver if he helps me as I'm not capable, but because I'm not ancient and don't 'look' disabled, they often don't)
Spend most of tomorrow having to rest
Wrap last of DDs presents on Xmas Eve
Send message to street group chat wishing Merry Christmas as hands and body wont allow me to write and deliver cards this year.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything

Merry Christmas all!

desperatehousewife21 · 22/12/2021 14:49

Sorry to hear that @TheOrigRights Xmas Sad

Just tested us 4 and all negative, hope it stays that way.

All the usual housework here to do too; change beds, hoover, clean kitchen, clean out animals, sort out DS’ hoarder bedroom.
