What's going on?!
Went online to order some last minute gifts from M&S and it's too late...
No click n collect nor delivery dates until
29th December!
Bugger.

Husband will only have books this year. No slippers. Dressing gown or socks. Welll, not until after Christmas anyway. In which case I might as well wait for the sales 😃

OP posts:

@FurryAntiWaxer

Imagine a Mumsnet post on boxing day announcing they didn't get a gift from DH because m&s had no delivery spots available when he tried to order on December 20? Xmas Hmm
Imagine a wider posting that her DH got her a dressing gown, slippers and socks for Christmas

It would be a LTB

Starcaller · 21/12/2021 10:58

Next still had next day slots when I bought some bits yesterday!

Generalpost · 21/12/2021 10:59

Not to worry just pop to aldi might even pick up a bargain from the middle

mam0918 · 21/12/2021 11:00

Why on earth would you expect them to have spaces 4 days before Xmas?

Most people booked months ago, there were whole threads on it announcing when stores released the Xmas delivery dates.

Starcaller · 21/12/2021 11:01

And Amazon still have next day delivery too.

I ordered my Morrisons shopping yesterday via Amazon prime at 1.40 it was delivered by 5pm.

I didn't get paid until yesterday. I can't go to the shops due to last minute sheilding so it can be done.

Did you read beyond the headline? :)

This isn't about a food order.

It's for slippers and nightwear. Xmas present.

mam0918 · 21/12/2021 11:11

@ChicCroissant

MNetters obviously think that everyone has enough money to shop early, not everyone does!

With people having to isolate or not wanting to go out I think online ordering has been even busier this year and that has also affected the deliveries.

Hope you sort something out OP, and ignore the sneering on here.

You budget... you have 11 paychecks or benefits pay-ins before Xmas.

I use to make under 12k a year to support a family and managed fine... shit financial skills and bad organization are the crux, not income.

You don't suddenly get rich one month a year, in fact, the poorest people I know HAVE to spread the cost year-round.

But none of that has anything to do with waiting until 4 days before Xmas to even attempt to book a delivery slot which doesn't cost money.

mam0918 · 21/12/2021 11:13

JinglingHellsBells - collections and deliveries are exactly the same, they don't say 'well your not buying food so here have a special slot'.

Starcaller · 21/12/2021 11:16

Why can't people just be disorganised or have misjudged time left and not be judged as some disgrace to humanity as a result? Confused I was still Christmas shopping yesterday because we all got Norovirus last week. Maybe I should have shopped in July to avoid it, but I'm a disorganised cow so that's never going to happen.

July would be too early but October November isn't.

This isn't about a food order.

If she’s trying to get a delivery or Click & Collect slot, she’ll obviously be ordering direct from her local M&S, who only have a certain amount of staff picking things off the shop floor and a certain amount of staff handing orders out to customers arriving to collect them. Why would you think that it would make a difference whether it was food or clothing?

M&S orders are sent from a warehouse for store pick up, not taken from the shop floor
Sn0tnose · 21/12/2021 14:00

Fair enough. But as they are still going to have a certain amount of staff in their warehouse, a certain amount of space in their delivery vans, a certain amount of staff to unload it, a certain amount of space to store it and a certain amount of staff to hand it out to customers, in the face of increased demand, I’m pretty happy my point still stands.

shinynewapple21 · 21/12/2021 14:03

@MindfulBear
I think the fact that you live within M25 may be the problem! Area with highest Covid and absence - I think that's your problem. I was going to suggest Next or Amazon as an alternative but suspect your problem may be with deliveries .

Across the whole year, the only time OP had managed to scrape together enough money to buy M&S slippers, dressing gowns etc was 4 days before Christmas? Really?

You absolutely can be disorganised! But don't start whinging that shops don't have what you want 4 days before Christmas. Take what you can get and be happy you can get anything at all.

Be disorganised, but don’t bitch and moan like it’s someone else’s fault.
Starcaller · 21/12/2021 15:32

OP wasn't really moaning though? Just asking what was going on!

DiamondBright · 21/12/2021 15:33

I was waiting for the big drip feed about a disability or illness, but no, just disorganised and middle class 😂

I ordered from Amazon today (spending Christmas money I've received so a present for me) and was amazed they are still doing guaranteed next day deliveries.

DiamondBright · 21/12/2021 15:34

@MeredithGreyishblue

Unexpected husband in the bagging area...
😂
RavingAnnie · 21/12/2021 15:36

M&S usually sell out of the best pyjamas, dressing gowns and slippers etc towards Christmas. You really need to get them early in December.

For what?

I don’t get the comments on here? It’s hardly Selfridges!
